Summary: Almost, but...
Review: ...I had to return it to the library, didn't seem worth the time. Between pages 1 and 100 writer made efforts to keep things moving at a good clip but the writing and characters seemed flat. In other words things were happening but I was never surprised or thrilled or otherwise engaged in what was happening. Story might have been better if less happened but what did happen was covered in more depth. I was not interested in what happens to him next, I'm sure he gained some power and wealth and moved on to confront his enemies or some such standard Fantasy/Sci-fi fare. Still, there are many worse fantasy novels out there, and if you want some light entertainment of a traditional sort this might be for you. If you want more rewarding fantasy novels I recommend Bernard Cornwell's Arthurian books, Charles Barnitz, Parke Godwin, Guy Gavriel Kay.

Summary: A wonderful book
Review: Although this book starts off slow and boring, it picks up the pace fast. I found that once I got past the first chapter I couldn't put it down and ended up until 5:00am just to find out the end. This is a must have for the fantacy readers out there.

Summary: Lord Obsidian
Review: Arlian meets Lord Dragon when he was a eleven year old and sold into slavery. Arlian is saved by Bloody Hand and at eighteen meets some really nice women. Arlian is forced to run fom guards. Arlian meets Black, a swordsman and guard. He teaches Arlian how to fight with the sword and swordbreaker. Arlian needs the skills for fighting Lord Dragon. Arlian joins the Dragon Society and fights Lord Dragon. Arlian defeats Lord Dragon after learning the secret of the Dragon Society.
I really like this book because of Arlian and Lord Dragon.

Summary: Count of Monte Cristo retold
Review: As the title says, this is basically a retelling of Dumas' _The Count of Monte Cristo_ with some variation and dragons thrown in. Does this mean it's a bad book? Nope...still enjoyable. I've been a fan of Lawrence's works since his first Ethshar book and The Cyborg and the Sorcerer. Lawrence is a master of character driven (as opposed to plot driven) fantasy. Dragon Weather reads just like his Ethshar books: it is light, fast moving, and you want to turn the page to find out what happens next. Some may cringe at me calling it "light fantasy," but that's what it is. There is nothing deep here except the development of the main character Arlian and all the situations he finds himself in (and gets out of). I have yet to find a book of his that has not entertained me. I look forward to the two concluding volumes (Dragon Society & Dragon Venom), as well has his new Ethshar books.

Summary: Fantasy Fanatic
Review: BORING!! The plot was implausible and improbable, not up to his usual standards. The writing was flat and uninteresting. I plodded through the book hoping it would get better--it didn't and I wasted alot of time (not to mention the price of the book). Too bad, the Ethshar series is MUCH better.

Summary: At last: a good yarn!
Review: Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. I can't say enough about this book, this author and this twist on fantasy. Yeah there's an orphan boy--but guess what--he stays an orphan and accomplishes everything he wants ON HIS OWN!

LWE has something unbelievable going on her--a brand new way to write fantasy. Frankly, there wasn't anything else I'd want in this book--it had it all and definitely ranks in the top 5 fantasy books of all time, right up there with Clash of Kings, Wheel of Time, Briar King and Anything by Hobbs

Summary: Intelligent, adult fantasy
Review: Genuine human moments; tense, realistic action scenes and a logical but completely surprising ending make this one of the best books I have read in the last couple of years.

I'm not usually much of a fantasy reader, and the cover of this book almost made me set it down. But the author came highly recommended, so I took it to the counter and bought it.

I couldn't be happier that I did. This is an intelligent, well-written novel that also tells an exciting story. I recommend it highly, and will search out the author's other works.

Summary: A strange, yet wonderful tale of an ordinary man who just...
Review: happened to be in the wrong places, and yet the right places, at the exact time. Puzzled? well, the author of this book has thought of it all, and I must admit, when I bought this book I had no idea what I had gotten myself into, but I don't regret it for a moment.
Dragon Weather is a tale of an ordinary hero who doesn't really want to be one, all he wants is a little bit of revenge on the dragons for killing his entire village, and who can blame him, really?

Summary: A Good Quick Fast Read.
Review: I bought this book based upon the reviews here, as well as the fact there are 2 sequels both of which are apparently well thought of. I enjoyed this book and was finished before I even realized it. The book kept my interest and I really enjoyed the ending and look forward to reading The Dragon Society (I've already bought it). If you enjoy good, interesting and fast paced fantasy this book is for you. Nothing high thinking like Song of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin, but definitely better than the garbage Goodkind's been putting out lately.
