Rating: Summary: Leprechauns in Oz by Mark E Haas, New Royal Historian of Oz Review: "Leprechauns in Oz" by Mark E. Haas is a sweet, magical, funny, and fast-paced Oz adventure that had me hooked from start to finish. Featuring an enchanted forest, leprechauns, fairies, & a wailing banshee, it is a good old-fashioned fairy-tale adventure to curl up with in a cozy chair. This is Mr Haas' second Oz book & solidly establishes him as a master storyteller with a vast knowledge of, & love for, the Oz genre. His ability to capture the style & pacing of the original Oz books is absolutely uncanny. Reading like vintage Ruth Plumly Thompson, "Leprechauns in Oz" is a delight. I give it my highest recommendation & look forward to many more books from this talented author.
Rating: Summary: LEPRECHAUNS IN OZ Return to Old Fashioned Fantasy Review: The recently published new OZ book, LEPRECHAUNS IN OZ, is a total delight. Unlike the overblown, pretentious Harry Potter cycle, this story is a return to the charming, old-fashioned delights offered by the original OZ books. although approaching 50, I felt like a kid again getting a new OZ book for Xmas! This delightful tale returns the innocence, humor, charm and lessons so important to a real "fairy tale." (After all, OZ has been around for 100+ years!) This author has avoided all the pitfalls that so many newer OZ tales succumb to. Established characters are true to their original incarnations, and the riotous plot, involving a young boy from Indiana and his adventures in Oz with a group of mischievious leprechauns, could have been written by L. Frank Baum himself. The original 40 OZ books have fallen into neglect over the years, and hopefully this delightful story will revive an interest in the marvelous Land of Oz and its wonderful and amusing inhabitants. Couldn't havve loved this book more!
