Rating: Summary: Beware Review: If you have read any of Salvatore's later works, ie. Canticle, Ice Wind, this book is going to be an extreem dissapointment. They are just trying to mike an extra couple dollars from the Salvatore name. This is obviously some of his earlier work (trust me it shows) poor if any character development, weak plot, choppy storline. There are alot of loose ends,m the fight sequencens are not dipicted with Salvatore's usual flair and detail. I can hardly belive that ANYONE could have given this book more then one or two star rating. I love Salvatore, and I will continue to read him as long as he writes but this book isn't worth it. I bought it soley because of the author and it is evident that he has become a much more improved writer since he wrote this book. For people new to Salvatore, dont even bother, he has much better work out, for those of you who have read everything he has written so far and are just salivating for something by R.A., your not going to like this one bit, don't waste your money.

Rating: Summary: One of the best science-fiction-fantasy i have ever read Review: It is something different from Salvatore, most people are used to Drizzt Do' Urden type books from him but you will be surprised. It is very good & it is insiteful of what might happen if we dont watch out.All in All it was one of his best alternative books.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not his best. Review: The Unicorn was an undersea discovery sub in which any nation in the world could help fund. Those nations that did got to share all the new discoveries from the vessel. However, while a huge storm ravaged above the sea, the sub was sucked into a black void. Most of the crew died. The few who lived emerged to find themselves far into the future. Captain Mitchell, Reinheiser, Doc Brady, Billy Shank, and Jeffry DelGiudice "Del" found themselves to be the ancient ones who were prophesied to come and change the world. The race of Man had destroyed themselves. Four humans were chosen by a being to become wizards to help the world in its change. Brielle, the Emerald Witch of the Woods. Ardaz, the Silver Mage. Istaahl, the White Mage. Thalasi, the Black Warlock. The world now consisted of elves, known as Moon Dancers, and misshapen lizard beasts known as Talons. The Ancient Ones, battling amongst themselves, joined the new races to help battle the Black Warlock and his gruesome Talons before all good and the entire race of Moon Dancers were destroyed forever! **** I found the beginning to be very slow. But after the first few chapters, the story picked up and held onto me. I understand it to be the first of a trilogy or series, but I am not sure. Salvatore fans will NOT be disappointed. However, expect a Sci-Fi, instead of a Fantasy, for the beginning to set up the plot.
Rating: Summary: Good Imagination but not Savatore's later caracters Review: This book does have good imagination. I thought the part where the crew of the Unicorn gets trapped in the Mysterious Bermuda triangle was um...interesting and creative. His characters though fall a bit flat. If you liked this book you should read the book Wizard's First Rule. The plot in that book is also good vs. evil. There are imaginative parts but the characters fall flat. I liked this book once I got over the fact that the characters aren't as rich as most of R.A. salvatore's. This is a book I would read just not twice.
Rating: Summary: Not Bad but not great either Review: This is obviously one of Salvatores first works that was published. Actually I think this is the first book he published. It shows due to the raw writing and the extremes of many characters who are either good or evil with little grey middle area. The characterizations besides that were good. It had rich characters despite bland good/evil alignments. The detail isn' like his later books but it does have a lovely rich fantasy feel to it. If your a Salvatore fan, its a must get. It your new to Salvatore, get his Dark Elf books on Drizzt. You'll like them much more.
Rating: Summary: a literary painting Review: This is one of his earlier books and doesn't contain the action of his dark elf stuff. However his ability to paint scenes and create emotions with the pen is already evident. I've read almost all of his books and rank this as one of my favorites. Is there a sequel?
Rating: Summary: Where it all began (thank god it didn't end there) Review: This, Salvatore's first novel, is, well, in a word: bad. Now before you curse me, let me just say that Salvatore is one of my favorite authors, so I'm not here just to bash him. The novel shows the seeds of what would make Salvatore the brilliant author he is today: great dialogue, intriguing characters, and fantastic battle choreography. However, Echoes lags far behind Salvatore's other works in many areas. For one thing, the plot is a bit cheesy and derivitive (a sub gets transported to the future, where a group of magical god-like beings have allowed a select group of humans to survive a nuclear holocaust? ouch). For another, and this is the honest truth, almost nothing interesting happens until around page 250 or so. I mean sure, the characters move about the planet and have mini adventures, but none of them are particularly engaging. The good news is that this series (and of course Salvatore's legendary career) does not end with this novel. The rest of the series is considerably better than this first effort, so I would recommend slogging through this one to get to the next two: Witches' Daughter and Bastion of Darkness. So read "Echoes" with the knowledge that this is where the beginning of a fabulous career came into fruition.

Rating: Summary: A great beginning to a great series Review: Well since most of the reviews I read were downing on the book I thought that I should give my thoughts. I thought it was an awesome book. The way the story starts out right in the middle of the action was a cool twist since alot of books drag out the introduction. Salvatore's explination of the four levels of magic was very interesting. And the magical battle blew me away. All in all it was a very interesting read and i highly recommend it, as well as the rest of the books in the series.
