Summary: Totally amazing!
Review: This book was totally entrancing, with breathtaking imagery and a tantalizing storyline. Frankly, I must say that this is one of the best books I have ever read. The plot twists and turns an uncountable number of times; just when you think you have something figured out you discover that you are wrong... the characters are really well developed, and the writing just makes you think that you are part of the book.

Summary: Animals at War- classic plot
Review: Good book- just finished it half an hour ago. Keeps up in the tradition of Watership Down (Richard Adams) and the Novels of Redwall (Brian Jacques.) It isn't comedy, more of the classic good cop/bad cop theory- only with deer. The character's are cool but need some more structure/development to back them up. Out of all the character's I liked Tain, Willow, and Bhreac the best. The names can be overwhelming at first, but eventually you catch on.
The book has a few cliffhangers and OH MY GOD moments, but at times it can drag.
Overall it is very descriptive, very gripping and very moving. A definite home library muct-have.

Summary: A book of destiny, fate, and courage not to be missed
Review: There is a prophecy amongst the Red Deer - one that speaks of a deer who will be born with the mark of an oak leaf, and who will do wondrous things for his people. In the time of Drail this prophecy has become even more important for the deer - as Drail is cruel and changes the way of life for the entire herd. On the night of his fathers death a fawn is born who wears the mark of the prophecy. Rannoch will be on the run for most of his life - but he has a prophecy to fulfill and one day he must return to his people to take what is wrong and make it right.

This book just blew me away. This book is one of the few books that reaches out to teenagers and adults alike and blows their minds. I read this book in one day because I could not bear the thought of having to put it down and leave the characters behind. It is both a well written book and a powerful story - both elements combine to make this one of the best fantasy novels that I have read in the past six months. I would easily compare this book to some of those by Mercedes Lackey or Tamora Pierce.

This story has it all - a hero who is totally "human" and who has no idea of the great future that awaits him, a prophecy of a saviour from an oppressive ruler, villains that make you want to take them down, and good guys that you cheer for. This is a novel on a grand scale that will not soon be forgotten.

Summary: fire bringer
Review: this book was pretty good, except for one thing-a storyline. there was a story, but it was undeveloped. but still, it was an incredible first book for an author. there were a lot of parts in it that seemed like ones from WATERSHIP DOWN.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: This was a really great book. I'm actually not much of a reader myself but this book definately caught my attention. I couldn't put the book down. The ending was great. The ending seemed predictable from the beginning, but, in the end, it was totally different from the ending I would have thought it to be. I'm going to get The Sight next, and I'm sure it will be just as good if not better.

Summary: A book to be read more than once
Review: When I opened up the book flap and read the plot line of this book, I knew I would enjoy it, and I was right. This book caught me and twisted me into a million feelings and emotions. All the way from when Brechin, Rannoch's father died on the hill, to the end of the book those emotions were there. Sad, happy, and angry. The power of David Clement-Davies's words can really grasp you. This story is about an Herla, or red deer, named Rannoch who becomes a legend and is part of a prophecy. He can talk to animals, and heal things, and the most peculiar thing is the white oak leaf shaped birthmark in the middle of his forehead. Rannoch takes you on a wild adventure of friendship, betrayal, and sacrifice. I hope whoever reads it enjoys it as much as i did. It truly should be read more than once, and I know from experience, it will be enjoyed each time.

Summary: A prophecy is fufilled
Review: I got this book from my grandmother about a year ago. I have to admit, I'm not a big deer fan. They're cute, but when I found out that my Grandma sent me a book all about deer, I thought "Great, now my mom's gonna make me read a book that I'll hate." I was wrong.
Rannoch is born on the night that his father, Brechin, along with all the other Outriders, is killed. There is a deer prophisized to restore the deer herds that will come in a time of great need. Rannoch is that deer. He ends up having to run away as a fawn with his "mother" and friends because of Drail and Sgorr, the deer in charge of trying to take over the Low Lands. When he grows up he has to defeat Sgorr (who murdered Drail earlier on) and restore peace to the deer.
