Summary: Fire Bringer
Review: Fire Bringer is a mesmerizing story about a young deer that has to fulfill the prophecy to save his deer herd. This book won't let go and will have you on the edge of your seat. It is a great read and I suggest in to anyone who finds action and animals to be a great duo. Rannoch (the young deer) makes you feel happy and sad and give you tons of amazing twists. This riveting story is long, but won't let you lose interest. Rannoch and his group of friends set run away in order to live. He meets new friends and allies along the way. As he grows up he realizes he needs to come back home and fulfill the prophecy and save his clan. This book has epic battles and touching moments it is a great read for all and should be widely read.

Summary: A Good Book
Review: This is a really cool book! I don't want to give anything away, so I won't say that much, but it's really enthralling, the type 'you can't put down'. I'd say Clement-Davies has put a real imaginative twist to this. Its takes you through the world of deer where man is the destructive and violent one. Where all the animals speak a different language, but they once could...I'm not telling. :P You'll have to read for yourself...

Summary: Too good for words!
Review: I was 11 years old when I read this book and found it to be absolutely stunning! I would like to add my two cents, however, about the age group this novel is meant for.

My reading level has been sky high ever since I was 9 years old, and most say I am mature for my age, which is why, at 11, I found this book exactly perfect. I would not reccomend it to children under age 10, or slower readers at all (400-some pages of descriptive passages and imagery might not be easy for some). It is mostly read by the academic, as it definetely should be :)

The imagery and description (as I've mentioned in countless other reviews) is, again, amazing. The words Davies used to describe the story really make it interesting.

I have read The Sight and Watership Down, yet still, Fire Bringer is my number one favorite. All three novels are my top faves, but Fire Bringer my absolute favorite. Some people have read The Sight first, although I love that book too, and say its the better one. I read Fire Bringer first, and say its the better of David Clement-Davies's work. I suppose its whichever story you read first :)

I felt as though I was really with Rannoch and his gang, and I cried more than once during this read :) I have reccomended it to my close friend and once she was finished, it topped her list, too.

I plan on re-reading this book sometime again, and I'm sure I will enjoy it even more than the first time.

Fire Bringer is absolutely charming and I cannot begin to say how much I enjoyed it, and I also cannot say how highly I reccomend you read it!

Summary: Unreadable due to publisher's font
Review: I bought both "The Fire Bringer" and was thrilled with it ... until it arrived. The font is so small it is virtually unreadable to anyone who does not have very good, or very correctable vision. A true loss. I donated it to the local library book sale with that disclaimer on a post-it note on the cover.
Please ignore this review if you have excellent eyes, never suffer from eyestrain, headaches or migraines. The same font was used in "The Sight"and "Lorelei", and I will add my two cents there as well.
Thank you for taking time to read this, and I do hope they release a far more friendly font for these books. I will have purchased them twice in that circumstance, however, the other reviews lead me to believe it might be worth the trouble and expense.
Again, my appreciations,
Mare

Summary: My All-time Favorite Book
Review: I can honestly say that this is the ultimate book. After I read it, all I could do was gape at the foreboding cover in awe. I'm not ashamed to say that I have the prophesy David Clement-Davies so beautifully scripted memorized.

The enchanting story begins innocently enough, with courageous Brechin worrying about one of his mates, the bold and beautiful Eloin. And when Brechin is defeated in a fight to the death, Eloin is forced to protect young Rannoch from the fate of his father and, acting on the advice of the wise storyteller hide Rannoch from his own fate. Of course such a thing cannot be done, and as a tyranny envelopes the land, Rannoch is to be recognized as the savior. This fine stag wishes only for peace, and a drastic occurence is all that can force him to go on to fulfill the fate that has long been waiting before him....

Summary: Prophechies and dreams
Review: Mostly, I find that male authors can sometimes be a little too shallow. This is not to be stereotypical, because I've found this, though a little less, in female authors, too. However, I found this to be an amazing work of piece, something as great as Pullman or Tolkein.
I won't give too many details about the story, since it's all up there, except it's from the perspective of the deer, namely Rannoch, and how he is prophesized to save all the Herla (deer) and Lera (regular animals) from a new evil leader, Sgorr.
The book is well played out, and it could've been difficult to read, because it takes you from before Rannoch's birth to his death. Even though, the author managed to keep it all together. There weren't any odd uprisings where some bits seemed to stand out unseemingly. It was all woven together beautifully.
Also, I found the theme of nature and many others very profound. This might be just me, but I feel the author might've reflected on the oppression during the Holocaust or other such moments in history.
Even if it isn't supposed to have such profound meaning, it was great, because it was a simple, lovely story about a legend. Great for bedtime, except for it's lovely binding - almost 500 pgs.

Summary: Clement-Davis Brings Life and Adventure into the Deer World!
Review: If you loved the Redwall series and love personification with animals, then you will absolutely loooove this book! I couldn't put this 700+ paged book down! I finished it in only three days (an I read it when I was 13!) It is so good, that I've read it more than once.

Once I started reading it, I felt like I WAS Rannoch fleeing from deer, talking to seals, helping otters, getting hunted and killing off all the bad deer and his father's killer.

At points, I was jumping out of my seat (I was!) and other times, when those close to Rannoch died, I was crying tears. Even still, there were times when I had to keep reading "The Prophecy" and connecting how it had to deal with Rannoch's ordeal abd life.

If you haven't read this book, stop reading this and go out and buy this book! You won't regret it!

Summary: A Haunting Journey
Review: Firebringer was one of the most touching books I've ever read. After reading "Watership Down," this book looked suddenly interesting to me. Realistic and haunting, this book will take you into the very depth of a deer society. The horror of Sgorr and what he is doing to the low lands, the secret he hides on an island, and the deer that was meant to destroy him, will find you turning page after page to follow the journey of a deer. A deer that all of fate lies on. I recommend this book to everyone.

Summary: Fire Bringer by David Clement Davies
Review: I bought this book after reading its sequel, The Sight, which was an amazing novel that touched my heart. After seeing the reviews for Fire Bringer, apparently even better than the Sight, my mind was made up. I went to the bookstore and purchased Fire Bringer.
But my opinion was the opposite of those of other reviewers; Fire Bringer was a disatisfying read that droned on and on and on for what seemed like forever.
I've read countless animal novels, and I'm amazed to find that the author who wrote my favourite, The Sight, was also capable of writing my worst, Fire Bringer.
Lucky I read the latter first, because if I had read this story before I'd have neglected all ideas of reading anything alse by David C-D. Do read the Sight, it's far better than Fire Bringer, unworthy of any praise.
