Summary: You don't have to like Magic :the gathering to love this boo
Review: I first borrowed this book from a friend of mine, because I was bored and wanted something to read. I could barely put it down, and then only because I had to. The story of Garth One-Eye and his companions is an enthralling read. Once I finished my friend's copy, I tracked down the book at my favorite bookstore, and got a copy of my own. Anyone who is a fan of fantasy should read this book.

Summary: This is the best book in it's genre I have ever read!
Review: Arena;the story of One-Eye Garth, a seasoned combat mage and tactition. The timeline of this story covers the time when Garth returned to his city of birth, betting on fights and sleeping in the streets, to when he becomes a planes walker:one of the most powerfull dimensional beings. In the story,Garth does things that will come as a suprise to the reader to start a "gang war" kind of chaos between thedifferent colored clans of the Magic colors. I think the best part of this story is that any body can enjoy it if they like the D&D type of midevil fiction, though I will give a word of warning to all Magic:The Gathering players:This book is not at all like Magic the way I thought it would be, because it carys no traits of Magic, other than the different colors, and the mention of a few cards from Beta and Arabian Nights(none of the Urza-Mishra stuff, it is a stand alone storyline). The book has a great cast of charecters that you will come to love, and hate, over time, and it has a plot so gripping that you will not be able to put it down untill you are done! Summary: Extravagant book
Review: This is one of the best books ive read, and i have read a copius amount of books. Garth One is the main character, and he is the type of person that is filled with such all knowing mystery you can help but not put down the book so you will know what he's up to.

He turns up mysteriesly as a hanin. (a mage that does not currently participate in one of the four magical houses or guilds) While most think of him as a low level mage capable of only simple spells he turns around to surprise him, and sets off on his quest with some of his friends including a street rat, a benalish fighter, and a mage from one of the four houses.

I cant advertise this book enough, its incredible, although some parts of it may not be suitible for those that are young.

Summary: Astounding!
Review: This book was incredible! I was a little dubious about this book as i've had mixed experiences long running comercialized series, but this book is a first class fantasy novel. It grabs your attention right in the first few pages, and dosn't let go till the very end. The book is full of nonstop action, vivid magic, clever tricks, and has a main character whos coolness factor is off the charts. I've just got two pieces of advice. 1) Unless you have good self control, set asside enough time to read the whole book in one sitting, 'cause you're going to have trouble puting it down. 2) Consider this book to be a single volume, not part of a series. The rest of the books in this series are by a different author, and...well...they suck. I made it till about book 5 before I couldn't stand any more. However if you like fantasy this is a must read. I'd compare it to some of the best fantasy writers out there. It's a quick read, but what Forstchen does in these 200 or so pages is really very impressive.

Summary: I loved it! It is still one of my favorte books!
Review: When I first picked up Arena I was into Magic:the Gathering and I was into books. This was the ideal Magic fighting book, but I never expected it to be this good. It is more than that, however, Arena has a great plot to it. It is a mystery also, who is this Garth One Eye, and where did he get his exeptional powers? What is his intrest in the fifth house? From the opening fireball to the final drain life this story sucks you in and doesn't let go. This is a must read for all Magic fans.

Summary: How it would be if you were actually a Planeswalker
Review: In the early days of Magic, WotC pushed the idea that the players were opponents in duels. This novel is the best illustration of this concept. The saga of Garth using the four houses to restore his house is well done, with everything fitting the original concept of Magic. I can not think of a novel I would recommend more to a fellow Magic players besides "The Brother's War".

Summary: Best MTG book....
Review: This is the first Magic The Gathering book, and hands down the best. It is the closest of all the books to the true "feel" of the card game, something that none of the last 20 Magic The Gathering books have even come close to. I liked this book so much I went on to read over 12 books by the same author, many of which are great and happen to be about niche markets that I love. *Wing Commander for example*. If you are a fan of Magic The Gathering, you MUST read this book above all others!

Summary: An excellent book - even for non-players of M:TG
Review: I read this book several years ago when it first came out, and I have to admit that it is truely one of the absolute best books I've ever read. It has nothing to do with the 'Magic: The Gathering' card games, nor does it deal with anything "pokemon-ish;" Arena is an outstanding piece of literature and, thankfully, not ploy to draw people into playing the card game. A *HIGHLY* recommended book for anyone who enjoys sci-fi or novels such as J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings.' Even Harry Potter fans will enjoy the intense magical atmosphere of this novel.

Summary: WOW!
Review: Arena is a GREAT book! I don't even play Magic at all. My friend made me read it and I don't regret it. It captures your attention from the beginning till end. It's full of action and mystery! READ IT NOW!

Summary: A nice start to the Magic Series
Review: This was (I think) the first MTG novel published. It is also one of the strongest novels of the entire line. Centered around a mysterious one-eyed magicker, the reader sees the opulence and greed that has taken over the annual Wizard's Duel. The main characher, Garth One-Eye, comes to the annual event in order to sow some chaos himself and to exact some revenge. One nice thing about this book was that, originally, you could order away for a MTG card, The Arena. Overall, this is a very well-written novel with a super story and excellent characters (we do meet Garth again later on in the series). While this book is sometimes hard to find, it is well worth the effort. I'd rank it as one of the top two or three Magic books along with The Thran and Tapestries.
