Summary: Deepened my understanding of Revelations!
Review: This book is a Biblically accurate, fictional account of the initial events in the "endtimes". It relates the most important aspects of the Biblical teachings in present day jargons and context. I found myself unable to put it down and immediately ordered the next book in the series. Interestingly, I can identify with every aspect of one of the characters as I am an airline captain. This book is an easy read and, yet, spell-binding. A must buy for every Christian or as a gift to a Christian or non-Christian friend.

Summary: A great read
Review: This book is DEFINATLY worth reading. Although I don't consider myself a Christian, I have to admit, this book was one of the best I've ever read. Some of it so scarry I found my self, in the wee hours of the morning, chewing what was left of my fingernails. I was also impressed with the refrences to Revelations. but... The authors should have made the characters just a little more realistic. For instance, if I thought the rapture was manifesting, I don't think I would find myself worring about my job as much as Buck and Raymond. I think I would devote all of my time praying, reading the Bible, and storing a nice lot of food and water in a BIG underground shelter :)

Summary: A Book for People Who Hate Reading Because It's "Hard"
Review: I must preface my remarks with the fact that I am an atheist, and therefore a little more than skeptical about Rapture claims. However, I have read most of Michael Crichton's works, and although I am equally skeptical of some of his fictional "science" , his novels never fail to entertain me.

Left Behind reads as if it was written by a computer program specially designed to write "novels" for the masses of people who hate reading. Every character is one-dimensional and entirely predictable. Every line in the book is used to advance the idea that fundamentalist Christians are entirely sane, and not that members are choosing religion over psychiatric help. Every plot "twist" was predictable from page one. This book is not interesting.

The authors could have done much better had they utilized the short story format (the story could have been told in 10 pages, easily). The story's inspiration, The Revelation of St. John the Divine, is barely 10 pages. These people believe that the Bible is the "word of God" -- why take 10 pages of "God's word" and expand it into a mind-numbing 500 pages?

I noticed that this novel is part one in a series. It's worse than I thought -- at least six books in the series so far, with no end in sight -- the rapture has already passed, we're being tortured.

Summary: Thought Provoking
Review: This is an excellent book. I could not put it down even for a moment. It really makes you think. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Summary: A must read
Review: Hats off to Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins. Not only did this book and it's series make me run for my Bible, it made me more of a believer and the importance of why.

Summary: You thought you were a Christian?
Review: This is the most fantastic book I've ever read! It is difficult to think of this book by itself because it is one in a set of books that tell one story. People who are not Christians probably won't care that much for it. When you read this book you will get chills, you'll cry, and you'll raise your fist in triumph and yell "YES!" You'll also wonder where you would be in this story. It made me think about how much of a Christian I really am and how easy it is to be "lukewarm". I couldn't put the books down. I read them all in a month. When I finished one I clamored for the next. I'm also going to be in debt soon because I'm sending a complete set to all my close friends and relatives. They're worth it.

Summary: Great, fascinating novel, even for non-believers
Review: I'd heard a lot about this book. From 2 people I know well and love, I'd heard that this book was really good. On Amazon.com, though, a lot of people complained about how this is 'religious propaganda' and all that. I am a Christian, but not really. I believe in evolution and all that. I don't read Christian books; they're way too preachy for my taste. I was somewhat dubious but still anticipatory when I picked up Left Behind. Here's my conclusion: This is a fabulous novel--great story, great writing, great ideas. A bit preachy, but not too bad. Even non-believers can love this book. Just keep in mind that this is fiction! Just because the authors believe that the Rapture is going to happen this way should not keep you from enjoying this book. In addition to entertaining, it also gives the non-believer a better idea of the Christian faith, so you don't look like an ignoramus around your religious pals. I loved this book. Don't let your personal views keep you from enjoying it, and you will too!

Summary: Read it and enjoy!
Review: I have recommended this series to anyone I care about and will continue to do so.

Like many others who have submitted reviews, I found this book very enjoyable. It grabbed my attention and kept it - through all six books.

I cannot profess to know how accurate the references to the events in Revelations are. I have read Revelations and re-read it after completing Left Behind. As many reviewers have stated, it IS a difficult book of the Bible to understand. For me, this book has provoked a great deal of thinking about my faith. I am happy to say that I feel that my beliefs are stronger.

I have been curious to know what someone not of a Christian faith would think about this book. It was a nice to see a good review of this book from a Jewish reader.

I feel sorry for the reviewers who could only criticize the writing style (or according to them, lack thereof). Of course, when I pick up a book to read, especially a fictional book, I read for enjoyment, not style. I've never quite understood how anyone can really enjoy a book if they are taking the time to check the way it was written.
