Summary: I'd rather give it ZERO stars, but that's not a choice
Review: TERRIBLE writing. Maybe if you had never read another work of fiction in your life, or a comic book, or seen any movie or cartoon, you may be able to think this was an OK book. But for the rest of us; the characters are one-dimensional, the plot is obvious, the "creativity" is lame, etc. It is disappointing that an interesting idea was implemented so poorly.

Summary: Other revies not fair
Review: I must say im on Book 3 of the left behind series. In fact im reading it as i sit here at work writing this review. The writing is not as others say horrible, as a reader who reads books by Tom Clancy, Steinback, Anne Rice, and Louis La'mour and others i must say that these book rate very high on the in-depth reading level that all the author's i mentioned portray. The series starts out with Rayford Steele a Airline pilot flying a routine flight when 80% of his crew and passengers disappear. This is teh rapture. All i can say is that from their the story is amazing. I was a non christin and i still have issues that keep me form coming a die hard christin. I do believe in god, and the rapture but do not believe certain things in the bible. This book on a non christian level opens the mind to the possiblity of the rapture actually occuring and hell even if you dont really believe it makes for a great fictionious novel. On a christian level the meaning and truth of this series is there. All i can say is give this book a chance, and dont read it with a closed mind. If i picked it up expecting another lame "bible" based book i would have hated it. But it was read with intuition and curiousity that just made it exciting. So read the whole series and tell me if the writing is as horrible as everybody says

Summary: I don't see how any adult could read this dreck
Review: Someone who raved about this "book" pressed it on me, as a voracious and wide-ranging reader. I opened it, read a couple of pages, and returned it as soon as possible. That doesn't qualify me to review the book as a whole, but there is one thing I can say to a certainty: this is the worst writing that I have ever encountered in something that was actually published. And it doesn't even have that so-bad-it's-good quality that could get you some laughs. It is awful and another step down the dumb ladder.

Summary: I'd give it a zero if I could......
Review: Don't read this out of some misguided notion that it's the Christian thing to do. This book reminds me of the Dorothy Parker quote, "It is not a book to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."

This book came recommended to me, and I borrowed it and the next one in the series. I was SHOCKED by how poorly it is written. There are Harlequins out there with better plot and character development, and the writing is on an elementary school level. I made it halfway through, and then just couldn't stomache it any more.

Is there such a dearth of readable, educated, intelligent Christian writing that this schlock gets published? Please say it ain't so!

Summary: Very bad writing-Got 1 star because I couldn't give it a 0
Review: I'm currently trying to get through this book. The writing is horrible. I want to clarify that specifically the dialog between the characters is horrible. They say things that no one would ever really say in a situation like the one they are in. To the Authors: Please don't write any more books. Leave the writing to the real authors. Like Dan Brown.

Summary: Terrific
Review: I liked the book a lot...written well and egaging. Even if I don't necessarily agree with the theology presented, it is thought provoking nonetheless.

Summary: Bad Writing, Unstable Theology
Review: I read "Left Behind" and "Tribulation Force" and then I stopped because I could not understand what kind of theology it was based on. I decied to research further by reading LaHaye's "Revelation Unveiled" to get a better understanding of what he was basing this story off of. I couldn't get past the first several pages because it didn't seem like he was interpreting scripture responsibly.
I think the main reason why christians, and anyone really, should stay away from the series is because it seems to be based on scripturally unsound doctrine. How can LaHaye or anyone else know exactly how things are going to pan out enough to write a fictional story about it? It is one thing to have an opinion about what will happen, but to actually write a story about it and risk adding or taking away from the Bible (the clear warning given at the end of Revelation) seems dangerous. As a christian, why would you want to expose yourself to something that could be very wrong just for the sake of entertainment?
The second reason I wouldn't recommend reading it is because it is horrid writing. As a voracious reader of everything from the Classics to V.C. Andrews (not the greatest writing, either), and a writer by profession, I don't even like admitting I exposed my self to such literary refuse. So I don't understand the appeal to the series at all based on those reasons other than the powers of darkness, :).

Summary: The beginning and the end
Review: This book taught me a lot about what the beginning and the end is. It gave me more thought about God, and what Jesus has done, and will do for the world. For some, the ones who believe, it is only the beginning to the beginning; for those who were not raptured, but will see the glorious appearing. But for others...people who fallow, and continue to fallow Nicolae Carpathia, it is the beginning of the end. This book to me is the most amazing thing that could ever have happened to me. It has taught me that there is more out there to come in life, and I need to search for more than whats just here. It has helped me figure me out spiritually, and continue to learn and progress in that area. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Summary: Left Behind
Review: This book really open my eyes to the bible. I know that things might not happen the way the books describe it. For me it gave me a reason to want to learn more abot the bible prophecy and learn all I can befor the end of the world about Jesus. The book was well writen and enjoyable. In the first night I read almost the entire book. I had to make myself put it down. I have also completed read the second installment of The LEft BEhind Series. Tim LaHaye out did himself with the complete series I fell. I can wait to start on the third book.

Summary: This is FICTION, remember!
Review: I read a lot of the reviews and was surprised to see that so many people were looking for some deep spiritual meaning. Take this book for what it is, fiction, not scripture.
