Summary: Exceptional, but for a target audience
Review: I have been unable to put this book down since I purchased it only a few days ago. I would recommend this book to people who are familiar with Christianity and perhaps the New Testament. If you do not in any way believe in God, this book will likely frustrate you. However, I believe it would be extremely beneficial to you to see what awaits those who don't. I do not mean to sound fundmentalist, but it is what I believe. I would never easlily be classified as a radical Christian, I, in general, keep my beliefs to myself. I do however respect those with a different view. If you are even slightly interested what is ahead, this would perhaps be a good start for you.

Summary: Give me a break
Review: This could've been a great book -- the concept is ripe for a great piece of fiction. However, the authors of "Left Behind" have ruined a decent storyline with shameless preaching, utterly ridiculous fear tactics, and just flat-out bad writing. The characters are shallow simpletons, the story is narrow-minded and predictable, and the Fundamentalist slant set forth (basically that anyone who doesn't believe in their brand of God -- a vengeful one) is down-right insulting. I, personally, believe in a loving God, thinking for myself, and taking PERSONAL responsibility for my actions. Obviously, the authors of this series do not agree. I can't think of a bigger waste of time than to go on to read the next 6 books in this series.

Summary: The Greatest Story on Earth
Review: When I first picked up this book and started to read it I really didn't understand what was going on. The next time I picked it up it made a whole lot more since to me. Everytime I picked it up to read it again I was excited about what was going to happen. This has been the best book I have ever read in my life. It is such a great book, if you start reading it you will have a hard time putting it down. It just gave me chills of excitement.

Summary: Makes you think...
Review: I generally don't read many fictional stories. This is one I'm glad I was introduced to. It truly made me think about life and what living is or should be all about.

From the very first chapter, the book grips you with a tale that is prophesied from the beginning of time. The story is wonderfully woven into the events of the Bible's end times and the characters in the story seem truly real.

A wonderful read--I'd highly recommend it--it may change your outlook on life! I'll definitely read on to book two, the "Tribulation Force."

Summary: Don't be afraid...
Review: This book is vastly entertaining fiction with a solid message of hope. Not on par with CS Lewis (Out Of The Silent Planet, Peralandra, and That Hideous Strength)as literature, or with Jerry Furland (Transfer-the end of the beginning)as a reality based view of the future, Left Behind still works because it answers what most peoiple want to know: What is God's plan? Read it and see!

Summary: Left Behind
Review: I received this book for my birthday. It was a book I could not put down once I began to read it. The best part is it doesn't end with the last page. It goes on, in series, through six more exciting books; of which I have read the next 2 and currently on the fourth. The book is written so as to make the reader feel as though he is right there with the characters, on the edge of his seat with anticipation of what will happen next. Based on Biblical prophecy, it also includes many scripture references as to where the ideas for the story come from. However, most importantly, it describes the plan of salvation in a convincing way. I would highly recommend this book, and all that follow, to anyone.

Summary: Fundamentalist anti-intellectualism rears its ugly head
Review: I find it disturbing when people try to make the Bible into something more than ancient Hebrew mythology. This book is rife with anti-intellectualism and mental banality. Notice how the airline pilot and the respected journalist and the skeptical college student are all "left behind" while the simple housewife is "raptured". This drivel is written on about a 4th grade reading level and is clearly intended for simple housewives and not respected journalists. Do yourself a favor and read some authors who prize and respect feats of the mind and not blind faith in invisible gods.

Review: I could not put this book down. After reading it, I raced through the next six books and am dying for the 7th to be released. You will LOVE the characters and come away with a whole new outlook on the bible and revelations.

Summary: I can't believe this series
Review: I am so disappointed that this type of series has crept it's way onto secular shelves. This propaganda would be just fine left alone. As a person brought up in a born again faith. I can see clearly the purpose of these books. I know people might think this paranoid but I have been on the other side of the coin. Fear is the biggest factor and reason we still have religion in the new century. These books are based on bibical passages that are meant to scare you into converting to jesus. These are not harmless. Once you start to fear that there might be something to this you won't be able to get it out of your head. Even if you realize it is completely based on ignorance and a desire to keep people believing and giving of their self-esteem, time, and money to the all mighty church. I would warn any person to just leave these books on the shelf and read something else. The Pact by Jodi Picoult or I know this much is true. Excellent books just written for our entertainment not to convert us and fill us will meaningless fear. I hope people will read what I have written and realize it's truth.
