Summary: Peddlars of The Word.
Review: Wow! ...It was fun to read, but don't confuse this Fantasy andScience Fiction "epic" with the Bible. Like they don't sayon X-Files "The Truth is in there..." (the Bible).

Summary: The best book I ever read!
Review: I bought this book and had anticipated reading it again. I passed it on to my mother-in-law who read it and passed it on to another person. It has been over a year and I think the book is long gone. I am sure it is NOT sitting on a coffee table or on a book shelf, but in somebodys hands who is dying to share it with someone else. Oh well, I am ready to indulge in book seven of the series that just came out. I am sure you will love this book and want to pass it on too. I advise that you put a return address label on it if you want to see it again.

Summary: Don't Be Left Behind
Review: Being from a very educated background and spending many hours studying a variety of subjects, I found this book to be the best fictional account for the coming of the end wiothout being overly preachy in their wording. Once I was recommended the first book I read the whole series within about a two weeks. I have since shared my love for the series with many around me. It truly made me question my role in the religious spectrum. I recommend that all people read these books and consider where they will stand on the day God comes like a theif in the night. The Bible is 28% prophecy and many of the points the authors made are foretold in the Bible. If you can read this and feel nothing then I can only pray for your soul. The characters in the novel can relate with anyone out there even those who look at you and tell you they are believers. I suppose on the day of the Rapture we will all know who believed as these characters did and where Left Behind to deal with the pain that followed their life decisions. I hope you all can find a peace in these books that so many have and not have to witness the harshness of the 7 year Tribulation.

Summary: Spare Me!
Review: I just got finished reading this book .. just to see what the big deal was all about in regards to the immense popularity of this best-selling series. I thought it was so stupid and corny! Readers can't take this stuff serious. To claim that this is "biblically based" is ludicrous. It is sheer speculation, and only represents one interpretation of Christian eschatology. Don't waste your time. If you want to learn about end-times prophecy, just read the Bible. If you want a riveting, action-packed thriller, stick with Tom Clancy or Stephen King. It's shameful that these two authors have to profit financially from the Bible, cloaking themselves in the terms of "ministering" when in reality they are merely exploiting the Bible as a source of entertainment. This novel represents trivilization of the sacred in its most blatant form!

Summary: Worst book I ever read
Review: Plots based on apocalyptic, religious texts have the potential to draw the reader into a surreal world where the suspense is only broken by flashes of philosophical innovation.

At least, that's what I hoped when I bought this "book."

To my horror, this "book" is nothing other than Christian-right propaganda remarkable only for the astonishingly poor quality of its writing.

What a disappointment.

I think the authors should turn the other cheek and give me my money back.

Summary: Christian does not equal Perfection
Review: The characters in Left Behind (and in the books that follow in the series) are refreshingly "human." The plot revolves around non-Christians who have been "left behind" after the "Rapture." I was pleased to see that some of the characters who were "Raptured" were not necessarily perfect - likewise - the people who were "left behind" were not necessarily "bad people."

Notwithstanding this comment - the characters of the book (and series) are living in a world which is becoming more "sinful" as time goes on. I understand that this book is meant for a Christian audience, but I find the descriptions of loose morals and decadence a bit too tame for my taste. It definately will not offend Christian readers - but as a non-Christian who has no problem with artistic expression (and big problems with censorship) I thought the book could have been more edgy than it was. For non-Christians, it should be reminded that this series is written in an evangelical way. If you do not wish to be preached to or if you are firmly anti-Christian - take heed and don't read it. If you are Christian or an open-minded non-Christian who enjoys a good, alternative genre with a bit of action thrown in - this series is a winner.

Summary: ** Left Behind - A great novel **
Review: Left Behind: A Novel of Earth's Last Days... Sucha' good book. Nonetheless, there are some cautions...

First, this is a bible-based book! Some of the content may offend you, so I strongly caution that! Funny thing is, is that it's based on the Catholic Bible, and I'm Jewish! It didn't offend me, but it really got me thinking about Christ (as you know, Jews don't believe in him.)

What I thought was really freaky, is that it REALLY does state that Jesus will come "rapture" his believers in the bible. Anyway, you are all probably wondering why I rated this 4-stars and not 5...

Well, the main reason is this... I like how they described the characters, however, they elaborated into so much nonscense that was not needed! The book was slow at times, but overall, it's a fiction book all should read

NOTE: READ THIS BOOK ONLY IF YOU WILL READ THE OTHERS IN THE SERIES! THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK IS NOT ONE THAT LEAVES THE STORY AT AN END!

Summary: Watch out!
Review: My employer recomended this book to me. When I went to buy it, the sales lady told me I would most likely have it finished in three days. I couldn't wait to start reading it.

This is a such a good book to read for anyone who has in interest in the rapture....what it is, how it comes about...what will happen...or just to see what God has in store for our future. I found this book a great way to forsee the events. This book adds faces, places actions and creates a moment to moment descriptions of the rapture as it unfolds.

What is the rapture?

In the beginning of the book, at the flash of an eye, millions of people are missing, their clothes left where they were. People are going crazy trying to figure out why their loved ones are missing. Different theories come about...but which one is to be believed?

The story centers around 4 people...a father (a pilot) who has lost his wife and son, but his daughter remains...a Journalist and a flight-attendant.

The piolot can't figure out why some adults and all the children on his flight went missing during his flight...he needs to get home and see if his family is o.k. His wife and son are gone, clothes left like puddles. He remembered his wife talking about the rapture, and decided to check out her church. The minister (now gone) had left a video on the rapture behind...for those who were left.

The pilot, after putting pieces together, realizes that this was the rapture... What should he do now?

As a believer in God, I found this book a great tool to aid in my understanding of the rapture...what events will be unfolded etc. What's great is that even though they are left behind...they begin the fight of a life time (against the anti-christ), and lead others to the truth.

Who needs more suspense than 4 going up against the devils pride and joy?

Summary: Reading from a theological point of view
Review: Piloting his 747, Rayford Steele is musing about his wife Irene's irritating religiosity and contemplating the charms of his "drop-dead gorgeous" flight attendant, Hattie. Rayford tried to tell himself it was his wife's devotion to a divine suitor that caused his mind to wander. First Irene was into Amway, then Tupperware, and now it's the Rapture of the Saints--the scary last story in the Bible in which Christians are swept to heaven and unbelievers are left behind to endure the Antichrist's Tribulation. Steele believes he'll put the plane on autopilot and go visit Hattie. But Hattie's in a panic: some of the passengers have disappeared! The Rapture has happened, abruptly driverless cars are crashing all over, and the slick; sinister Romanian Nicolae Carpathia plans to use the UN to establish one world government and religion. Resembling "a young Robert Redford" and silver-tongued in nine languages, Carpathia is named People's "Sexiest Man Alive." Meanwhile, Steele teams up with Buck Williams, a buck-the-system newshound, to form the Tribulation Force, an underground of left-behind penitents battling the Antichrist.

It was chaos after the incident of disappearing of people. Local television stations from around the world reported bizarre occurrences, especially in time zones where the event had happened during the day or early evening. CNN showed via satellite the video of a groom disappearing while slipping the ring onto his bride's finger. The scream and the dropping of the camera, terrified voices, running nurses, and the doctor. CNN reran the footage in super slow motion, showing a nurse appears to be reading a printout from the fetal heart monitor. The nurse's uniform seems to still be standing as if an invisible person is wearing it. She's gone. The uniform, stockings and all, are in a pile atop her shoes. Jewish scholars pointed out passages from the Bible that talked about God destroying Israel's enemies with a firestorm, earthquake, hail, and rain. Buck was stunned when he read Ezekiel 38 and 39 about a great enemy from the north invading Israel with the help of Persia, Libya, and Ethiopia. (Page 14)

Who will be rapture? At a Christian high school soccer game at a missionary headquarters in Indonesia, most of the spectators and all but one of the players disappeared in the middle of play, leaving their shoes and uniforms on the ground. The CNN reporter announced that, in his remorse, the surviving player took his own life. Including Rayford's family. However, not all the members in the Church will be rapture. Not even people who were raised in the church, Parent and families were all Christian. This bring the question of who is the true Christian Is rapture is common knowledge?

The story telling explicit but boring. The story detail on Rayford and Buck Williams, it was until page 121 than we begin to see a break through of a story climax. As Rayford was looking for an affirmation and explanation of what happen to his family. And there he wanted to investigate, to learn, to know, and act. He was looking for an index in his wife's bible. Something that referred to the Rapture or the judgment. The real interesting page starts from page 155, which is about Vernon Billings, the Pastor of New Hope Village Church of Mount Prospect, Illinois. It was the church Irene attended, a church interested in the salvation of souls, real preaching and teaching. The Pastor had often spoken of the Rapture of the church. And a creative idea to tape a message of those who had been left behind incase when rapture really happen. The pastor loved to preach about the coming of Christ to rapture his church, to take believers, dead and alive, to heaven before a period of tribulation on the earth.

The concept of this novel--one day the world simply finds that millions have vanished--that "the Rapture" of the Book of Revelations has come to pass--is an interesting one--and not just for believers. It's a fascinating "what if?" scenario--although for fundamentalists, I realize the question is not "what if?" but "when?" What if the world woke up one morning to find that this literal interpretation of the Bible were true? What would people's reactions be? How would they cope? What questions would they ask themselves? How would they live in a world where the rules of the game would have changed so dramatically? What about the many good people who had believed that they had lived just lives and sought the truth in their own way? How would they react? How would the world react to realize that the only people who had vanished were Christians--and mostly fundamentalists to boot? I can conclude that the author is taking the stance of a pretribulationist, also the view among premillennialists. Along with the dispensationalists, the rapture will take place before the tribulation. Unfortunately, the novel doesn't really deal any more but just that. We see world events unfold almost entirely from the perspective of a few people who come from the same background who think of themselves as Christians, but they haven't really internalized their religion Christ isn't really an integral part of their lives. Mostly this novel deals with how they come to terms with the fact that this realization may have come too late for them. Anyone with any different perspective or experience is simply left out of the novel. Nor does the novel deal with how such a revelation would affect the spiritual culture of the world. Everyone takes a re-look into their life and concern about their re-born. There is litter or even an absent of an in depth biblical reflection. On top of this there's very little drama in the novel. One would expect a novel about the Apocalypse to be gripping--at least in terms of action if not the depth of its characters. But most of the action is rather poky and not interesting. I suspected that this might due to the author, trying to correspond this novel between both the Christian and the non-Christian readers.
