Summary: Totally Relevant
Review: This book is a wonderful read, it describes a possible reality of the end of the world. I bought it after I had seen the film version of the book.
It is the first in a series of books that are designed to give a Christian view of the world today and how people are easily deceived.
In response to the articles written by other reviewers who do not think that it is relevant, I tend to disagree, in my opinion I find this book totally relevant to the state of the world today.
Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have excelled themselves by creating such a wonderful, descriptive, creative novel.
This book is not just for someone who is a Christian, it is open to anyone who enjoys a good book.
My favourite part of this book is close to the start, it is set on a plane. Cameron, a reporter has just noticed that a lot of people have disappeared, he goes over to a woman who seems quite distressed, Cameron asks her why she is worried, she replies by telling him that her husband has gone, Cameron asks her if he has only gone to the toilet, she replies only if he went there naked!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read.

Summary: Your eyes will roll so often, they'll be sore
Review: The premise was interesting, but the execution was atrocious. I imagine the main appeal of this book is its juvenile writing, which makes it easy to understand.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read. It may not be that it should be taken literally, (after all, the book of revelations is open to hundreds of interpretations.) but the book is extremely action-packed and exciting. i have now read all the way through book 5 and they just keep getting better!! I can't put it down! I reccomend this book to ALL!

Summary: ...and Yet people buy these books.
Review: Contemporary Christian music is notorious for being a watered down imitation of secular music. It is usually below average in quality and only has value because it is a digestible form that sheltered Christians can listen to without feeling guilty. The same can definitely be said for this entire books series. Frankly, the only mildly impressive thing about these books are the authors' ability to stretch a few verses across 200+ in order to keep the money flowing in. This may be the only popular book series out there that have the literary quality, depth, and character development of a freshmen high school student's creative writing assignment

There have been many great works of fiction as well as movies that have successfully used the bible as a basis for a great work of fiction. These books often can be enjoyed by the religious as well as the non-religious. I have yet to hear a positive review for this serious except from the very religious

Summary: Smacked in the face with reality
Review: Jenkins and LeHaye are an incredible duo! They feed off each other to create an unbiased depiction of what might happen in the VERY near future. Cpt. Steele, "Buck", and Cloe are so real you can almost reach into the book and shake their hands. Beyond the fiction there are quite a few scripturally based facts that are woven in by inspired hands to make this the best Christian Fiction ever produced.

Summary: I liked it. I kept me reading for hours.
Review: This is the second best end-times book I have read. Britt Gillette's "Conquest of Paradise" was just a little better. This was more interesting and I kept reading it longer, because you can't read "Conquest of Paradise" in the dark. I liked Left Behind a lot though. It was a very good point of view of how the world would end. And I liked how they kept going from Rayford Steele's life to Buck Williams life, and I got a good grade on my oral book report too. I would definitely recommend it to any teen boy or girl. I also liked how there was more than just the disappearances going on at once, like the ten men meeting and changing to a one world currency.

Summary: Are You "Left Behind"
Review: Have you read a book about a disaster that was so catastrophic that affected every person in the entire world? That is the basis of what this book (and this series) is about. There are many things throughout this book that are great. Here are three things I loved about this book: the excellent plot, the life-like characters, and the series of situations and problems that are presented throughout this book. This book is a Christian fiction book but it can be enjoyed by anyone of any religion, or people of not religion.
The two great geniuses behind the book (and the series) are the authors: Dr. Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Mr. LaHaye, who is the "creator" of the Left Behind series, is a prophecy scholar, minister, and educator. He has published forty nonfiction works that have sold over 11 million copies. Mr. Jenkins is the writer of the series. He has written over one hundred books. Eleven of those books have become bestsellers.
The great characters are fictional but are as if they are real people. They have real lives and have different outlooks on the "disapperences." Many of the characters believe different stories about where their loved ones are. Some people believe there were aliens that took them, some belive that a chamical reaction evaporated their bodies, other say the church rapture took them to heaven and many do not know what happened. No one knows exactly what happened, but everyone knows something happened.
The situations that go on throughout this book are almost life like. The reader can almsot put himself in place of the character. There is a teenager, who is in this book, which appeals to other teenagers, there is a younger man, that younger adults can relate to and there is a middle aged man, so older people can relate. These characters have the same problems as a normal person.
This is a great book. It is one of the best I have ever read. By the way, what is the big "disaster"? How did it happen? Where did the millions of people go? I guess you will have to read the book to find out.

Summary: Made Ya Think!
Review: If this book doesn't make a person think, I don't know what will. I was immediately hooked to the series just after the first book. One friend, who clamis to be agnostic, said it made her interested enough to read Revelations. Now, how's that for makin' ya think!
This book definately made me take a better look at myself and my way of life. I've been a Christian for almost 14 years and yet there are soo many things that I do not know,(or tend to ignore)and Left Behind proved to be an eye opener. I am greatful for this book and would highly recommend it to ANYone!

Summary: Saved One
Review: I am saved thanks to this series. Not only is it informative about Christ it is a great book for the story. I would say this is a must read series. Much better than the Harry Potter Series and a lot of other books and I read alot.

Summary: Christian Rock sucks, so does Christian Fiction.
Review: Ugh. I read this because a friend of mine is an ex-fundie and she still reads the series as a 'guilty pleasure'. It's such horrible drek, it's hard to even comprehend.

The authors seem to have done little research beyond reading the bible, anything vaguely scientific is usually a little off. (I don't think I'd call Ethiopia as the middle-east, either - Libya? Maybe - but that's more North Africa). I stopped taking notes on annoyances after the first chapter. I'm surprised I didn't stop reading it totally. I guess, it's just like a literary car wreck, and I just can't stop looking.

In all fairness, the Bible itself suffers from a weak narrative and lack of character development in many areas, so who's to blame the authors. (Yeah, authors - it takes two people to come up with this pap.)
