Rating: Summary: Left Behind -JP Review: Left Behind, written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins is a religious fiction book that has to do with the rapture, when God comes down and takes his loyal followers and children under the age of 12 into heaven with him. Even though it has religious background and some religious facts, it's not really a religious book. It's an adventure book about a struggle to pull life back together after millions of people disappear. The book is very interesting and extremely suspenseful. Its great that it has surprise after surprise and they occur the first couple of pages into the book too, so there is no slow beginning. I think it's a perfect book, and I agree with everything about the book. In my opinion about the book, I would say the author picked a good choice about writing a book with a religious background because people who read it, think twice about doing things, because everything you do now will be judged later in life. It did affect me a little bit because it made me think the way I act and the things I do, because god makes your final decision on where you belong, bases on your life. Overall, I thought this book was excellent, because I was hooked all the way through. You don't have to worry about finishing this book series in a matter of days, because so far there are 10 books in the series and still growing. If you enjoy reading, I suggest this book to almost anyone. The suspense and the story behind the book is amazing.
Rating: Summary: Will you be left behind? Read this book! Review: The book focuses on four characters whow eventually turn to real Christians after the dramatic dissappearences of millions around the world. They are set out to stop the Antichrist and live to see God's Glorious Appearing. The book is sometimes very religious and actually uses scripture from the Bible. It was a very fast read and most of the time I found myself reading it for hours. It was a very unique book relating to end times. It made me think. Sometimes, for about a few seconds, I actually thought this was going on in the real world. It taught me a lot about Revalation in the Bible. What they say about the end of the world is actually explained in the book. It was even more interesting when I found out that a lot of people actually believe these events will occur. I felt like I could really relate to the characters and I found them all interesting. This book would be best for Christians but anyone could enjoy it. I found the plot extremely interesting. Who would not find an event that ends the world interesting? This book could really change your life. I am definately going to read more books of the series. This book is a best-seller for a reason. Read this book. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: you don't have to be religious to enjoy Review: Someone was telling me about this book and I was doubtful considering it was a christian read...next thing I know 10 other people were jumping in the conversation and telling me what a great book it was...so I thought what the heck? I have been a left behind addict ever since...just finished book #11 and can't wait for the final one. My only recommendation, which is easy now, is to read one after the other...it was very tough to wait for the next edition to come out several months later. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: An Awesome Read Review: If you're looking for a novel that can change your life, this is the one. Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins tell an intriguing fictional tale about what "might" occur in the future. This novel changed my ignorant belief that God was somehow just a God of the past. Such is not the case at all. God loves us as much today as any Biblical character He embraced in the past. Left Behind is a must read. It is inspiring, thought-provoking, and a catalyst for those seeking to advance their walk with Jesus and His Father. All of the Left Behind novels are a best-seller for a reason - they're awesome!I have seen some negative reviews from people who seem to despise the Christian faith. I am not sure why people who don't believe in God would be so concerned about buying, reading, and then writing an online review about Christian fiction; but hey, whatever...Like getting the ratings down to a two-star will have any effect on whether there is a heaven and a hell. ...
Rating: Summary: Shallow and Dumb Christian Propaganda Review: Please! GOD! leave me behind!!! Please!....If heaven is going to be inhabited by mental Pygmies then that's the last place I would ever want to spend eternity. There is no heaven or a God, prove me wrong...give me absolute proof....you can't can you?, Simple minded fools....get over it.
Rating: Summary: unbelievable plot, unbelievable characters Review: Personally, I found the first book in the Left Behind series to be unbelievable for the most part. As one reviewer said, it does not make any sense that Russia would attack Israel for some formula that makes the desert bloom. And New Babylon? Come on. It sounds like a bunch of fanatical fundamentalist mumbo jumbo to me. I found the characters to be shallow. I suppose that could be b/c the authors' main focus is the plot, but well-developed characters go hand in hand with a well-developed plot. I did find Nicolae's charm (to some extent) and Rayford's pride believable, but they were still not developed as well as they could have been. The only reason I finished the book was to see what ridiculous thing would happen next. Also, I do not agree with Bruce Barnes (and everyone else who finds Christ) that the best way to bring others to Christ is through immediate, direct confrontation. The best way to bring another to Christ is to build a friendship with him/her and demonstrate your faith in your actions. Actions speak louder than words. I am a Methodist and not a big fan of fundamentalist Christianity. Also, research shows that no church believed in the secret rapture theory prior to 1830. It is still not believed by the more historical, mainline Protestant churches or the Catholic Church. Jesus' second coming will not be secret. It may happen in the twinkle of an eye, but I do not believe that it will be secret. I encourage anyone who is sincerely intersted in a relationship with Christ to research theories on His second coming and to visit a Methodist or other historical church that teaches sound Biblical doctrine on the second coming (and other areas).
Rating: Summary: For Christians Who Like Shallow Writing Only Review: I'll be blunt: the characters in this book are unbelievable, undeveloped, and wooden. The writing is skin-deep, badly organized, and hardly moving. The premise sounds interesting, but it's never taken anywhere, just squandered on terrible prose, plot and small minds. If you're a Christian who thinks that any book that tries to shove Jesus in the reader's face is holy, go ahead and read it. But for the smart fraction of our population, and those spiritual men and women who refuse to let tripe like this represent their beautiful faith--or, in other words, know good writing from bad writing--stay far, far away from this stinker.
Rating: Summary: An Exciting read. Review: Left Behind is a very entertaining and Interesting story; What Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins do is take the Bible prophecy's about the END TIMES and write a fictional story about how those times can come to pass. Its almost like Tim Lahaye, Jerry B. Jenkins are teaching us Bible Prophecy 101 along with presenting the Gospel Message at the same time, in an easy to understand and coherent manor. I think this is a good book for Christians and non Christians alike, because it is entertaining and exciting. It would be a good book for anyone who may be interested in what the Bible Prophecy's say about the end times; And may cause an interests in the Bible prophecy's to one who had no prior interests. It is easy to read and an exciting and scary read. It will peek your interests and cause you to want to continue to read the series. It may also cause an interests in the Bible prophecies and cause one to research the Bible and other more serious Prophecy study materiel and books by such Authors and scholars as Sir Robert Anderson (The Coming Prince and Daniel In The Critics den). Hal Lindsey (The Final Battle, the Late Great Planet Earth, There's A New World Coming, and Vanished). And Tim Lahaye (Are We In the End Times and Beginning of The End).
Rating: Summary: Couldn't finish... Review: This series of books gave me nightmares. I read the first few, but they were just so violent and dark that I kept having dreams that the world had ended. I had to stop reading them.
Rating: Summary: Wondeful series to get lost in.... Review: This book is wonderful!!! I have read this book and all of the other books in this series. I am now waiting for the final book, Glourious Appearing. It is so real. To be able to look at what could happen to the world when God takes his believers is amazing. Lahaye and Jenkins have done a wonderful job with the characters. They are your average citizens. Some even thinking that they are christians and then to be left behind. It makes you think. At the begining of the book, in the plane. There is a couple with a baby. And when the rapture takes place, the couple are only left with some clothes from their baby. It is sad, but it will happen. I think they did a wonderful job writing this book. Very detailed. I would recommend this book to anyone who just wants to read a good book.
