Rating: Summary: Sceptical...but now addicted Review: I haven't participated in chuch life for several years...so when my best friend decided to read these books I told her I think she would just get all freaked out and not enjoy them. She read the first two and began telling me about them and asked me to just try volume #1. They are great!! I started reading them a month ago & I am on #5. Once you pick up one of these books it's pretty hard to put them down. Contrary to what I had thought, it wasn't intimidating or a scare tactic. In fact I have learned more about the Bible while reading these than I did in several years of Sunday school! I am truly enjoying this series!
Rating: Summary: The Rapture takes place Review: After reading this book and all the other books in the series I couldn't wait for the "Left Behind" movie and for the latest installment in the book series "The Mark." The "Left Behind" movie was okay and pretty faithful to the book: it's just as intriguing and gripping. In "The Mark" the second half of the Great Tribulation takes place and it can be helpful to read at least the first book in the series, this one "Left Behind" to understand the basis of the story completely. "Left Behind" although based on Biblical truth turns out to be a thriller with the assurance that these things will take place. Another book that I just read which deals with plausible events in the end times is the high profile megathriller by Alec Donzi called "The Consultant."
Rating: Summary: Depressing Review: Many of my Mississippi fundamentalist coworkers recommended this book. After reading it, I found that I was extremely depressed. It was an obvious and poorly written fundamentalist "tract". If this book can warrant 5 stars by American readers, I have grave concerns about the intelligence of the American public. What an embarrassing book!
Rating: Summary: A Sermon in Sheep's Clothing ... Review: If it's "preaching to the choir" you want then this your book. If it's a good story you want then skip this thinly disguised revision of The Revelation. I left my copy on an airplane ... and then I disappeared.
Rating: Summary: GOT JESUS? Review: These books are UNBELIEVABLE!! I almost didn't read thembecause I thought they would be way boring, and that's even comingfrom someone who's a Christian. Boy, am I glad I changed mymind. These books are so easy to read, and explain the end times insuch an easy way. I do admit that at times the writting is a littletoo easy, but the characters are versatile, and leave you wanting toknow more. The series really starts to take off in Assassins, andleaves you totally wanting more by the end of the MARK. Don't pass upthis series!
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly thoughtful Review: ...This "Christian" book, which I picked up on a slightly embarrassed whim, completely captivated me. I truly began to question my faith and my entire life. Although I believe I am a good and moral person, I know, in my heart, that I would have been left behind. I may not be ready to dedicate my life to Christ and begin witnessing, but my curiosity is piqued and there are far too many questions and coincidences around to disregard this prophecied possibility as the answer to the downward spiral of this world. I too am hooked - for the story, which I believe is well written (though a bit sterile), but for the next piece of the puzzle. Stranger things have happened and this is far too important to disregard. If one book can make a person question their life and decisions, then it is an important book. I will read all of the intallments.
Rating: Summary: eye opener Review: Starting out on a 747 bound to Heathrow, England, people suddenly disappear on the plane. It soon becomes clear that there are people missing all over the world. Soon you have a pilot, his daughter, a minister, and a reporter searching for all the right answers. And to top it off, you have a political figure from the country of Romania who quickly starts to rise in power and gains fame! And the conclusion to this first book is awesome! Mystery, action, suspense! It has it all! A good book based on the book of revelations from the bible.
Rating: Summary: If you think hard, this could happen to us. Review: Wow. That's a response that I made after reading the best book I have every read. I, for one, have never been that religious. I didn't like going to church, I didn't get all those religius books, etc. But, when I found out about this book and read it, I just had to sit back and think about the world that we live it. In this book, the world was able to finally come together and could finally be viewed at as a whole. In our world today, we have violence across the streets all over. Sometimes I wish I could live in the world the book described....until you find out what happens. This book is the starting point of the anti-christ taking over and the rapture occuring. Though it seems far-fetched at times, you have to remember that they authors, Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, got all of their information from the book of Revalation in the bible. People in the book that did not follow the ten commandments and not be a true christian were Left Behind while the others that did the right deeds disappeared leaving their loved ones behind. Left Behind gets sad at times and is a definite page turner. I suggest this book to anyone that wants to turn their life around and come to realize that we aren't around forever. If we want to make it to heaven, we need to make the right choices. Left Behind showed me that and got me in the position that I am in today. I thank you Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins for creating such a life-like and moving book. Currently I am in book 4 now and just love the series. This book builds up suspense by going through things slowly and making you think more then you thought you ever could. Honestly, everyone needs to sometime read this book and sit down and think. Think about the situations you are in now. What can you do to improve them? This book shows you the way and deserves to be a best-seller which it most certainly is. Please order this book today and you will never regret that you did.
Rating: Summary: Points to Ponder Review: Until I read this book, I was under the impression that I was "good enough". Now, through reading this book, I realize that I have tons to learn. Not ever being particularly devout, I never paid attention to what was in the Bible. I couldn't quite grasp the message. This book put it in language that the most avid backslider (like me) can understand. I have never had a book that made me think more or run to look up Bible verses like this one did. I am ordering the rest of the series. Besides having a valuable message for the masses, this was an entertaining and compelling read.
Rating: Summary: For Those Who Don't Want Left Behind Review: This a great easy reader for all who want to know more about the book Revelation. Left Behind is the intro a great series of Christian fiction. Normally, books about the Bible can be very confusing, including the Bible itself. This puts the last book of the bible, Revelation, into a perspective that many can understand. It is really easy to read and the story is simple to follow. The only problem is that you'll be hooked and have to buy the rest of the series.
