Rating: Summary: Story about the last days of mankind Review: This book tells about the last days of mankind; specifically about the rapture when genuine Christians are taken out of this world to be with Christ. The tribulation period begins, as the Bible refers to it. "Left Behind" shows us that it's no fun to be left behind, and tells this biblical principles in a story of the main characters. The tension keeps on going, from page to page and it's a highly interesting read. It's time to consider a few things in your life. Another book that is highly recommended as it deals very realistically with the nearing end of humanity and the threat of supernukes in the Far East, is the powerful megathriller "The Consultant" by Alec Donzi.
Rating: Summary: Filled with the Spirit of John the Revelator Review: Authors LaHaye and Jenkins, inspired by the theology of The Bible, attempt, and in my mind suceed in helping all of us to wisdom. It was King Solomon who wrote in his Book of Proverbs that "the fear of God" is the first step to real wisdom! Their interpretation of the Revelation is fearful and awe-inspiring; and who's to say is not accurate. And yet the true love of the holy Spirit often overcomes the reader to the point of tears. Extremely hard to put down. Negative reviews remind one a great deal of most of those "left behind."
Rating: Summary: Powerful start to a powerful series. Review: This book is a great book for chrisians and will probably always be a classic. I loved it, it kept me busy while I was at a bording school last year. I don't care what any other review says, this series will always be my favorite series.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the true great Books series ever written Review: The entire series is true to the bible itself and the scripture, I believe all who read this book will come to realize the truth that the rapture will happen, all of the other series preach of god not leaving everyone behind, when Jesus raptures his church it will be the true believers, this book tells of it all in a way never before written. The characters are lifelike in how they act and what they do, I give it two thumbs up on the plot, theme, and the way it was written.
Rating: Summary: better than i thought Review: I always have to have a book. I've been reading all my life and have never read a "religous" book. I picked this one up not expecting to like it or even finish it. I was amazed! It is very easy to read and very enjoyable. It is NOT a scare tactic book, but it does make you look at your life and make some hard choices. The characters are believable and the story is just as exciting and full of suspence as others i've read and enjoyed. have since seen the movie. It is a good movie in its own right, but pales in comparison to the book (don't they all?) I will definately read the rest of the series and enjoy them all.
Rating: Summary: If You Let It, It Will Change Your Life Review: This book is gripping fiction, yes, but it also contains a powerful life-impacting message that will leave you forever changed, if you are open to it. Read it and find out what everyone is so hooked on! Find out why there are so many critics out there who don't want you to read it! You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Fast paced reading Review: While this series doesn't have the depth of literary allusions that classics like T.S. Eliott's "The Waste Land" has, it does read very quickly with a plot that keeps the reader engaged. I read the first one within a week, and have been averaging two days on 2-5. It just can't be put down. The characters are believable, and you find yourself sympathizing greatly with their predicament. There are moments when style breaks down, (For instance, a developing romance that begins to read like a harlequin book) but overall the depth of characters and plot compensate for it. It is a great book for anyone looking for light reading, and may even spur you into delving deeper into the book of Revelation.
Rating: Summary: Compelling read... Review: ...for both Christians and non-believers alike. Although written as a fictional account, the book will give readers a glimpse of a possible timeline of events that could happen as foretold in the Book of Revelation. The plot draws you in right from the start when the rapture occurs and makes you truly think: "what if I am taken and my love ones are not? or "what if I am the one left behind?". "How would life be without them?" Hard to put down as you follow the stories of Rayford Steele (the 747 captain) and Buck Williams (the ace reporter) as they try to make sense of what has happened. Be prepared to read into the early hours of the morning. Try Tribulation Force next!
Rating: Summary: A true vision of the end of civilization Review: My heart sinks and I despair at the closing of the American mind when I hear tell of these ridiculous books selling millions of copies. The hillbillies must be lining up at the Sam's Club book section to purchase these jewels.
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC Review: I was dubious when I bought the first book, but now I am totally hooked. I finished the first one, got in the car and bought the second one. They are very well written and capture your attention from the start, I can't read fast enough! I always want to know what will happen next. I highly recommend them, even for non-christians.
