Rating: Summary: A very good book Review: Tim F. LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins are brilliant authors!Although the reading level is somewhat basic, the story flows from page to page. I started to read the book and could not put it down. I can't what to read the next book.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: I was mesmerized by it -- I think I read it in 3 nights, which is very unusual for me. A lot of people criticize this book saying the characters were unrealistic. But, if you buy the premise of Jesus taking all His followers to Heaven and leaving everyone else behind, then the characters changing so easily is pretty understandable. If everyone you knew were taken to heaven and you were "Left Behind," wouldn't you start believing in Christ ASAP? I think you need to be open minded and realize this book is a NOVEL. But, it was great!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I have the book and the movie. They are both awesome (VERY GOOD). The Left Behind Series his VERY GOOD. You can't put these books down it is field with mystery and intrigue. In less than 7 months I have read all the Left Behind books and am waiting on Desicration to come out in October. There were times when I read 20-70 pages a day I could not put it down.GET the Books or go to your Library and check them out.
Rating: Summary: Important Information Could be better art Review: This is a book that is difficult to put down once you've started reading it. The writing is not great, and the characters are a little wooden. However, the story line is strong; and the topic could not be any moer relevant or important. I read "The Mark" first. After "The Mark", I got saved. Everyone owes it to themselves to read this book and series.
Rating: Summary: Compelling Review: I have read all of the books in this series, and anxiously await Oct. 31. I have read many books, by many authors. I must admit, I do not enjoy the writings of those such as Stephen King. I also spent several minutes of my time, scrolling through the reviews of these books. I noticed two common threads among those who left negative reviews; they are non-Christian, Stephen King fans. Had they taken the time to compare these books with the book of Revelations, they would have found that there may be some relevance to what the authors wrote in these books. The power of God does not have to "have reason" . . . or "make sense" . . . or "be realistic". That is what God is all about . . . Almighty Power. I was raised in a Christian home, and have always strived to be the best Christian I felt I could be; without making too many sacrifices. I must say that this series of books, has caused me to re-evaluate. I have shared these books with my young adult children, who are not "religous fanatics" at all, to the contrary, they don't even go to church. They enjoyed them all and found them to be very compelling. These books have made them, also, rethink many aspects of their lives. I wonder how many of the people who negatively reviewed this book, based on it's "unrealist . . . not likely to happen . . . give me a friggin break", happenings, would have thought that the WTC would be removed from the face of earth along with 5,000+ Americans? Like I said . . . .read Revelations.
Rating: Summary: Left Behind Series, the best books ever written Review: Oh my. Let me first start out by telling you that I have read many many books. Everytime I finish reading a good book, I swear that that was "the best book ever written" but NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING compares to the books in the Left Behind Series. I can't put them down. I read them on the bus, on the train, in the car, on the toilet, in bed, outside on the front stoop, while I'm eating dinner...They are just that good! I recommend them to everyone. I am only 15 years old but they interest me, and my cousin, aunt, and mother read them before I did so I guess you could say Im reading Hand-Me-Downs..lol but that's besides the point. Besides these books being true, they are also entertaining. Bottom line, GO OUT AND GET THE BOOKS!
Rating: Summary: A Fresh Look Review: My dad bought me this book for Christmas 2000. At first, I was not really thrilled with his choice of a gift. However, once I started reading the book, I found that it was quite difficult to put back down. My parents have gone to church for as long as I can remember, but I do not. After reading this book, I started to think about where I would be if this actually happened here, today. I have still not made up my mind, but it has made me think about life and religion and I have started to put a lot of things in my life in perspective. In fact, I have just finished "The Indwelling" and am getting ready to start "The Mark" while waiting for the next in line. I believe that the author(s) of this series have done a fabulous job. This first book in the series does a fine job of pulling the reader into the lives of the main characters, while at the same time making you think about what decisions you would make if in the same place as the characters in the book. I can not wait to get started on the next book.
Rating: Summary: The start of the best book series ever Review: When I saw all of these "Left Behind" books coming out about two years ago, I decided to read them. I checked out this one from the church library, I guess Im lucky it was in, because this book was already well loved. I could not put it down. I read it in two days. I loved it. So I started reading the series. This book started a worldwide phenomonon. Any book that can do that has got to be worthwile. You can totally connect with the characters emotions and feelings even though the day of judgement has not happened yet. This book has excellent writing, contrary to some people's opinions. They may not have the ultimate writing skills, but I have seen worse writing in college already. Since then, I have read every single left behind book and even started the kid's series and Im in college. The kid series is just as good. If you are staying away from those just because you are an adult, I suggest you read them anyway, even if it takes you only a couple hours to read. These books can change lives. It changed mine. I have since become a better Christian in my opinion. I don't want to be Left Behind, and I don't want to see you left behind, either.
Rating: Summary: Illogical and uninspired Review: This is the first in a very long (I think there a 10 so far!!) series of books that tell of the end of the world as foretold in the book 'Revelations' of the bible. If you took the bible's apocalyptic prophecy. Put an unimaginitve spin on it. Added some 2 dimensional characterizations and truely ridiculous plot lines, (the russians launch an all out nuclear attack against israel because the israelis have developed a means to fertilize deserts, does that make sense to you?) then add some thinly veiled preaching and you have this book. Having said that I found my curiosity helped me through this book. I was ignorant of the book of Revelations predictions. I was curious enough to see how events would unfold to keep reading thru the 1st 3 books. But the scenario unfolds painfully slowly if you find the characters dull and unbelievable. In the 3rd book many pages are devoted to explaining things that I had already read in the previous books, that was very tedious. After the 3rd book my curiousity about the prophecies was not enough to overcome my boredom. I have found "The Christ Clone Trilogy" much more enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins shouldn't quit their day job Review: As fiction, this book was horrible. The characters are one-demensional, the plot was predictible, the dialogue is bad, and the interior monologues are worse (By the end of the book i was ready to feed it to the paper shredder if one more character experienced a sudden urge to convert to christianity for no apparent reason.). As theology it was only slightly (very slightly) better. It was simplistic and way, way out to the right. If you want decent theological insight, read something by CS Lewis (the perelandra trilogy or the screwtape letters).
