Rating: Summary: Good One Review: I read this book after a recommendation by a friend. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down. The story is amazing, from beginning to the end. My only complaint is that it's quite pricey.
Rating: Summary: Cass Per. 2, Analysis of Characterization in Left Behind Review: One of the many great attributes of this novel is the character development. Of all books I've read, no other book has given me as much concern for the character as Left Behind has. I go on reading about Ray and Chloe and just hope that things turn out for the best for them. Good examples can be found all over the book, there's always a story being told behind Ray's children, his wife's love for the church, or Chloe's college life. The other characters are also developed superbly, and the writing makes you believe that these people actually walk the Earth. It is done so well that I feel like I could move to Chicago and actually look these people up and meet them, and hold a discussion face-to-face. Another interesting factor in the character development is how Carpathia slowly becomes more and more involved with the main protagonists, and how he slowly begins to effect them as people. However, no matter how antagonistic Carpathia is, the obvious conflict in this novel is Rayford's quest to become christianized. Once he has accomplished this, I feel the pace will quickly pick up.Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins have done a SUPERB job with this novel, and I am eager to move on to the next books in the series.
Rating: Summary: Inspiring Review: I felt that this book was rivoting! It was great how it had a source to back up all of it's information and plot. I loved going back and forth between the characters, and I am glad that it was on such an important issue. Hopefully people will stop and take the time to read this book, it is no wonder why it is a best seller. The Bible is a totally accurate 'historic document'. It is amazing how so many people from all over the world who contributed into the Bible, thousands of years ago, and how their versions were all exactly the same(99.5% for all you mathematical people, out of 24,000 New testament manuscripts)! Think about it, if something like this really did happen, wouldn't you want to be prepared instead of left behind? There is so much fullfillment in being a Christian. But if you still are not convinced, I highly suggest that you read, The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel, with so much accurate evidence for all your skeptic questions. On that note, I felt that this book was inspiring and exciting, as I'm sure you will too!
Rating: Summary: A good book overall... Review: A good book overall. But there are few points that don't sound too logical. Why would Russia launch the air strike against Israel just for some chemical formula? They would probably steal it from the doctor. Work underground but not openly attack another country. Supposed that there are someone else who studies Bible, when someone like Nicolae appeared, wouldn't they at least doubt the acts of this guy? Seems like the group who doubted Nicolae's act is the Tribulation Force. Not even the leaders of the UN and other countries? These are the two points that I'm not convienced. However this books made me re-think my act as a Christian. Would I be one of those left behind? There are tasks that Jesus Christ wanted from us, Christian. And that is what I need to do from now on!
Rating: Summary: True Reflection of Fundamentalists Review: I would recommend that everyone read this book. It accurately portrays what a large portion of fundamentalists believe. It expresses the sentiments of those who attend universities like Bob Jones University. It is clear from many of the reviews that quite a few fundamentalists think that the book represents what is in Revelations. Let me elaborate Many people criticized the book for being illogical. However, it merely reflects what many fundamentalists believe. It shows the fundamentalist Christian version of the end of the world to be totally illogical. Countries like China would have virtually no one left behind. France being almost entirely agnostic would have little effect. Only in a country that is partially Christian would there be much of an effect. The book never tries to be logical. Many people criticized the book for being anti anything that is not fundamentalist Christian. The book shows that fundamentalists have anti-Semitic, anti Catholic, anti-UN sentiments. This is an accurate reflection of the sentiments of many fundamentalists. Many people criticized the book for being preachy. The sermons in the book are incredibly humorous. They sound just like countless AM radio stations across the country. Many of the sermons with minor alterations could have been Saturday Night Live sketches. Ironically, there is little talk of helping others and general kindness - just a lot of talk about sin and salvation. Many people criticized the book for having one-dimensional characters. These people have to base their thoughts on the teachings of one book. These people do not ask any reasonable questions. They certainly have never read any history of the Christian Church. How could they not be one-dimensional? So if you think fundamentalists should be portrayed as illogical, self-righteous, one-dimensional people, you should read this book.
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! but message should not be taken literally... Review: This is quite a provocative novel about the end times here on earth and is sure to make a lot of noise (as some of you might have read in the mixed customer reviews). Although I must agree that the book fails to see the complexity of world politics (which was evident in the beginning of the novel, which also transpires throughout the rest of the book), judging the book in that manner of perception is going way beyond the point. I'm sure the aim of the book isn't about right-wing conspiracy theories, or world politics, or predicting the future or whatever... it's plain and clear... it's asking us about our relationship with God and where our faith stands. If you're a believer, you won't have a problem grasping the essence of this book (or the series for that matter). But if you're not, it's either that you'll feel that it's time to examine your faith, or you'll just throw the whole book away. As a final note to all who will be reading this book, this is not a substitute for the greatest book of all--the BIBLE! As I have said earlier, the book was written to examine our faith, and not to make predictions on what will happen. The authors just gave their thoughts on what they think will happen. It is written in the Bible that we do not know the time or day Christ will come. So don't take the Left Behind books literally as those Nostradamus fanatics take the quatrains. Instead pray and thank God for accepting His greatest blessing to humankind--Jesus Christ.
Rating: Summary: A WAKEUP CALL!! Review: This book is not written to teach history, economics,or 100% FACT.This book is an emotional vision of an example of what the world may be like during the times of the rapture and shortly after.I am very knowledgable on the end times, and I would suggest this book to everyone. It makes you look deep inside yourself.
Rating: Summary: For those who do not understand...... Review: (...)With that said, this is a wonderful book. It is a great study of end times prophecy as told in the Bible. Some liberties have obviously been taken to make this an exciting and interesting read. If a person wants to read simply about end times prophecy, that person can simply read a work of nonfiction or even the Bible itself. If a person is looking for entertaining reading and thought provoking scenarios, this is a good series that I highly recommend. Admittedly, this is an action series with very little "down time" for the characters between disasters. I suggest a study of Revalation would help any reader to put this series into perspective as they read this series. Bottom line.....a very well written and thought provoking series with lots of action.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I held off reading Left Behind even after hearing all the rave reviews. I'm not one to enjoy having religion shoved down my throat. However I finally got around to reading Left Behind. Left Behind is the first religious fiction book I've ever read. I'm hooked! Even if you don't consider yourself religious, you will still thoroughly enjoy this book. Excellent writing and an excellent plot. This book is not to be missed!
Rating: Summary: Cristi White Review: I loved it! Really is thought provoking and really makes you want to be sure you're walking right with Christ -- to be SURE you're saved. The book is MUCH better than the video. I'm on Book #3 now.
