Rating: Summary: It's interesting. Review: I am not a Christian and my friend lent me this book to read. 3 months later I was able to finish it. For me the book was not the kind that I couldn't put down but I would read it on the subway or in the bathroom. So whenever I was bored I would read it. The first chapters were very interesting when the disappearances began and all the commotion was going on. I thought the book was thought provoking. It made me think about what all those hardcore christians were going through thinking that the end of the world is coming. It hasn't converted me to Christianity but it had certainly enlightened me on "Rapture." As I read the past reviews, I would agree that this book is on a 6th grade reading level. I would not recommend buying this book but I would recommend that you check it out from your library. I enjoyed the book but would not shell out money for it. I might check out the video out of curiosity and if my friend has the rest of the series then I will borrow them from him.
Rating: Summary: Disapointing Review: This book simply trades in on the genius of the Bible, it doesn't bring anything new to the table. I was drawn to this book because of the quality of other endtimes novels, mainly We All Fall Down and The Christ Clone Trilogy, but there really is no similarity between those novels and Left Behind except Revelations. We All Fall Down is full of brilliant insights and fabulous writing Christ Clone is analytically impresive. Both authors made me look at both myself and the Bible in new light. Left Behind is poorly written and doesn't have anything new to say. The only thing interesting about this book is the subject matter, and the author's can't even claim that. If I were you, I'd avoid these books and stick to some of the other novels that tackle the subject with intellegence.
Rating: Summary: Great Series Review: Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down until it was done. All the books are like that and I can't wait until the next one comes out. From a Christian or even non-Christian view, these books have an interesting plot, are suspenseful, and leave you hanging. Although this get's slightly annoying when you have to wait a few months for the next book to come out, it's highly worth it!!!
Rating: Summary: Much better than I had expected Review: I received this book as a Christmas gift from my fiance's mother. I had tried to read it, not getting past the first few pages. I came home from work one day, and picked it up mainly out of curiosity. I finished it two days later. This book, and series as far as I can tell, is one of the best I have ever read. Considering that I've been reading for about 22 years, I think that says something. Wether or not you are a Christian, this book will suck you in. It did me, and I haven't been able to put them down since I started. The other thing, about this series, is that it has made me think. I have a seven year old son, and I wonder what would happen to us if the Rapture actually *did* happen. Would he be taken, would we be together? Where would we be? I really enjoy books that make me think. I would suggest this series to anyone, and I plan on starting my son on the Left Behind: Kids series soon.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: What an eye opener for non-Christians. Great fiction but believable. Characters are easy to become attached to.
Rating: Summary: Intriguing Review: This book does a great job of putting things into perspective. For many it is hard to imagine the magnitude of Christ's second coming. But LaHaye & Jenkins seem to put everything into a clear view. You can almost imagine the event taking place. It is as if you are there personally, experiencing everything first hand. It is scripturally sound with what is written in the books of Revalation & Daniel. I strongly encourage any and all Christians to read this book. Especially if you are on shaky ground with God, this might be the inspiration you need to be able to put an anchor on your faith and stand firmly on the Rock of Salvation, Jesus Christ.
Rating: Summary: This book was off the heezy for sheezy!!!! Review: I thought that this book was really good. I liked it because it shoke me up about the worlds last days. I definitly recomend this book to any one that is intressted about the tribulation. The book was about the worlds last days & everyone clear across the globe has without any warning vanished leaving only their clothes & whatever else they were wearing.
Rating: Summary: The authors accomplished what they intended Review: The author's goals in this novel are two-fold: One, to write an engrossing and entertaining novel that displays the adventures several people have during the end of the world. Two, to bring interest in Christianity. Although this isn't the best book I've read, it is still very thought provoking and entertaining, and I believe that the authors succeeded in writing an interesting novel. I've heard several mention that the author's writings are not completely accurate as compared to the book of revelations, and what I think of that is, that was their intention all along. LaHaye and Jenkins wanted to write something to make you want to learn the truth, not something to teach you the truth. In my opinion they were successful, I actually want to go peruse Revelations after reading this novel.
Rating: Summary: A Rebirth of Christian Faith from those "Left Behind" Review: ... This novel is an excellent example of Christian fiction. The authors unite Christian theology with a reality that those in present day society can understand and relate to. With or without an understanding of the Christian religion you find yourself captured by the plight of each character, hoping they find their way through the dark and gruesome time of those left behind. LaHaye and Jenkins don't force a reader to follow Christianity, but instead introduce characters like Haite, who don't believe in Christ and have a hard time understanding the others who do. The series itself is spellbinding, and the biblical quotes are true to its source. Overall, this book is an outstanding piece of Christian fiction, captivating to a society in need of fiction with meaning and hope.
