Rating: Summary: Not great literature but a fun read. Review: If you are looking for something to hold your attention for a couple of days this book is fun to read and more thought provoking and less offensive than a Stephen King novel or the like. If you are expecting some real intellectual inspiration however you will not find it here. What I found most interesting about the books in this series is that they reflect what many Americans actually believe of the world and of the people around them. Is it really possible that God would create a world of possibilities and then punish people for examining ideas other than those professed by born again Christians? What about the billions of non-Christians in China, Africa and India. If the ideas in this book about the end of the world are true what a complete waste of humanity. While I appreciate the ability of the authors to apply evangalistic ideas to a popular novel for the non bible readers of the world, I do not believe readers should plan to make these stories a companion to the Bible. Particularly if your motivation is fear inspired by the scenarios described in these novels.
Rating: Summary: Really makes you take account of your beliefs. Review: Being a born again Christian I was recommended this book for reading. Hated to have to put it down to go to sleep. Mind riveting and very thought provoking novel. It's wonderful to know that even though it is a fiction novel there are alot of areas based on truth from the Scriptures. Just started on the Tribulation Force and it looks like I won't be sleeping much through this one either. Wonderful reading.
Rating: Summary: An important update Review: How thrilling to learn that January 1998 sales of Left Behind were 46,000! Just in that month alone! That was the 29th month of publication and was the largest month by far. We're closing in on 600,000 sales. The other two books in the series (there will be seven in all) have sold over 350,000 and over 250,000 respectively in one year and a half year. Movie rights sold. Lots of great things happening. Book 4 due in August, entitled Soul Harvest.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: It is often unfortunately rare to find engrossing fiction work by contemporary "Christian" authors. This book was not just good Christian fiction, it was great fiction, period. The message of the book is resoundingly real, especialy if you take the time to read the book of Revelation alongside the novel. Scary but inspiring!
Rating: Summary: Must read for Christians Review: Being a born again believer, when this series of books was recommended for me to read, I was doubtful if it would be something I would enjoy reading. But I thought I would try. Now I'm hooked and have read the first two of the series and am reading on the latest release and cannot put it down. It has been a great revelation (no pun intended) to me and just an idea of those left behind and what could and problably will happen to them. Highly recommended by a Christian and you should read all three that are out and patiently await the next book.God Bless
Rating: Summary: A gripping read that has left us wanting more! Review: For the first installment in the series, "Left Behind" sets off on a good pace. The characters seem solid and real enough, as there is sufficient development. However, the pace somewhat ranges between action and introspection, which may or may not be critical to the plot. The content behind the events in the novel is, of course, based on as-yet unfulfilled Biblical prophecies found in Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelations, amongst others. For the believer, it is a reminder that our Hope will not be in vain. For the sceptic, if nothing at all, this work is an inspired attempt by Jenkins and LaHaye to serve as a reminder that these events may well happen in our lifetime, and would do well to seriously consider the implications of being "Left Behind". Maranatha, Lion of Judah!
Rating: Summary: Give it to your non-Christian friends! Review: Fiction can never replace the word of God but this story could be a picture of the predictions of Revelation. My wife and I read this and Tribulation Force in a couple of days and are now determined to get them around our friends who have not yet made a comittment and expect to see some action! I have now ordered another set of 3 books so as to increase the coverage!
Rating: Summary: The best books I've ever read Review: I loved the books. I was so scared and curious after reading the last one, that I pulled out my Bible & read Revelations. Most of my family & all of my friends vie to get the books when I am done with them. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: The books in this series SCREAM to be read! Review: In a world where the 'norm' is moving more towards abnormality, these books could not have been more timely. All the books in this series are spiritually moving and edge-of-your-seat exciting. No other text, except the inspired Word of God, has moved me like these books. There is nothing coincidental about the reading of these books in my life and the lives of other readers. Read these books and DON'T BE LEFT BEHIND!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down, I'm recommending it to everyone. Review: A spiritual eye-opener. This is true to the bible fiction. Didn't want to put it down--until near the end--I slowed down because I didn't want the story to be over. Easy reading, excellent writing. I wanted more. I've read all three books and hope there are more to come.
