Rating: Summary: Good story for kids, not adults Review: Well...it is an interesting premise. And the story moves along well. It' just, overall, kind of silly. That's the only adjective that seems accurate. An EXTREMELY literal translation of Revealations is what I guess this is based on. The story is fun on a 6-8 grade Sunday school level, but I can't imagine a mature adult really buying this as a serious piece of fiction. Israel is a world power because they can grow vegetables? Food exports don't make you a superpower. Ask a farmer. Food is overabundant already, it just isn't profitable to distribute. Scotland Yard has no rank of "captain". The anti-Christ couldn't be more obvious (and so less anti-Christ-like),and the political machinations that go on are naive in the extreme. Everyone outside of politics thinks the UN is an important, powerful institution. God knows what would make them think this. The religious editorials interupt the story too often, and are rather hokey and simpleminded, reminicent of those Davey and Goliath shows. Not a bad read, but one is enough. If this is typical of "Christian fiction", it has a way to go before it reaches a very broad audience. Question: If the reporter guy is 30 or so, what's he doing going after the pilot's college-age daughter? Is that "Christian"?
Rating: Summary: The best series in the history of Christian Fiction! Review: One of the most intriguing and well written books I have read in years! This story really gives you something to think about! The novels following Left Behind; Tribulation Force, Nicolae, Soul Harvest, Apollyon and Assassins are also just as riveting and compelling. These are a must read series!
Rating: Summary: So scripturally true that it makes me weep Review: I found this whole series to give me goose bumps and tears. I found it to be enlightning and very informative, and it helped to clear up some of my questions. Since Revelation is not in chronical order it helped to put things into perspective. My own husband who was "sitting on his fence post" has started getting his act together. I am even more burdened for lost souls than I was before. I am so looking forward to the next book. I will leave this series for those who do not get raptured to read and learn by.
Rating: Summary: A parable for modern times Review: I attended Catholic schools for 15 years (grade school through college) and didn't know as much about the Rapture and the biblical predictions of the end times as I've learned in this book. What a great way to bring God's messages home to us in this modern world.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: I found this book to be informative, enlightening, and so appropos. The events are called for in Revelations, the people are fictional but the scenario is very possible. The reader must continue the journey of the characters through this period of tribulation to fully comprehend the extent and intent of the writers. Please continue reading the ensuing publications to fully understand the consequences of not accepting Jesus The Christ as your Saviour.
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable...couldn't put it down Review: This is an unbelievable book. All the aspects you love about a truly captivating novel, combined with intriguing fiction based on real events that many Christians believe will come to pass. LaHaye and Jenkins - amazing job. And the subsequent books to follow get better each time. I've never been so into a book that I finished it in 2 nights.
Rating: Summary: This is fiction, folks.. Review: And bad fiction, to boot. Why are readers grasping at badly-written novels as expressions of religious truth? LaHaye's interpretation of Revelation is just that - an interpretation. what's more, the whole scenario is deeply anti-Catholic - if you read what LaHaye has written in his other End times books, you'll see that he consistently and at length defines the Catholic Church as the Whore of Babylon mentioned in Revelation. Why does anyone want to send their money to this bigoted theological scam?
Rating: Summary: One word decribes the Left Behind series: beautiful. Review: I really enjoyed the Left Behind series. The books made me excited about reading the bible and bringing God into my life. I feel more positive and I want to share with others how I feel. I know if you read these beautiful books you will feel the same as I do. Enjoy and God bless.
Rating: Summary: The best book (other than the bible) I have ever read. Review: I just finished reading 'Left Behind' and am ordering the next book in the series. As a born again christian, I must say this has me talking to God more than I have in the last year. It has renewed my desire to seek the Lord every day and has me thankful that I am not going to be LEFT BEHIND. God Bless the authors of this series.
Rating: Summary: awesome! Review: This book is simply a great read. I was actually a bit tentative to read it, but once I started I could not put this book down! The characters are believable and I found myself relating with each person's struggle to find their faith. For any person, Christian or not, this book sheds some amazing light upon the rapture of Christ and how each of us has a decision to make!
