Rating: Summary: Gritty witty & original Review: This was a very exciting book to read. It has a gritty reality to it and very interesting concepts in it to keep you occupied and keep the pages turning. A story told from a thiefs point of view and the contrast is shown how different priorities are from such a persons view point.
Rating: Summary: A great book that keeps you reading Review: Oh my gosh,I loved this book.It had an original plot, likeable characters, and a detailed setting.I can't wait until the second book comes out! 8-)
Rating: Summary: Great Book. Wonderful beginning author. Review: I was at the book store looking for the next book in the series I was reading, but it wasn't there. I happened to see this book and it's cover really got me interested. The art really made it look interesting and the sysnopsis was intriguing. I really needed to get something to read and it looked like a good bet. I am very impressed with it. The magic is original, new, and exciting. The story flows and you get pulled along with it. It is an excellent peice of work. (Just one thing-I hope that Livak starts to use aetheric magic more, she is capable of it and she should make more use of her ability)All in all, this is a wonderful book and is definitely worth buying.
Rating: Summary: Glad I took the risk Review: I admit I would never have touched this book had it not been for the fact that I was desperate for something to read. Unknown author, average-seeming title...? But I was hooked once I started reading. Livak is a far cry from the usual heroine of novels, being independant and not overly concerned with fashion and the other "female fancies" often portrayed--hair, etc. The characters were believeable, the plot was interesting and had a creative premise. I've got my eyes peeled for the next book from such a talented author.
Rating: Summary: Strong Female Lead! Strong Plot! Lot's of action, magic! Review: That's high praise from me. I adore strong female characters. The rest of the characters were good also. I didn't notice any holes in the interesting, attention-grabbing plot and obviously the story will continue. I just hope the title character is at least a major player. I would definitely recommend this as an excellent first fantasy novel.
Rating: Summary: What more could you want?!? Review: I was in the store a few days ago and bought this book without really thinking about it. I am very glad I did! This book has a strong female lead and thankfully, Livak is not just another perfect, blonde heroine. It is nice to find such quality of writing from a new author and I will be eagerly awaiting the next novel in this series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good fantasy book with a unique female character as the star.
Rating: Summary: I like the cover but I hate the book and I like the horses Review: it is the dumbest book I have ever read
Rating: Summary: Different. Intriguing. Well-written. Review: A very different use of magic. Written in the first person. Initial explanation of mages difficult to understand, dileneating who is who due to different name uses my only difficulty. Definitely worth reading. Moves along at a modrate to fast pace. Autonomous central female character with strong men to compliment her.
Rating: Summary: This needs more than five stars... Review: Like a lot of other reviewers, I wasn't sure what to expect out of this book. At the time, i had an overwhelming need to spend my money, and my mom was in a rush to get out of the book store, so i just kinda picked it up and bought it without too much thought. I got home, and i read it. Then i read it again. And again. And again... There are few books that make me want to keep on turning the pages (who cares about eating and sleeping?) and just read the whole thing until i found out what happened. The Thief's Gamble is one of them. This book is too good for mere mortal words. All i can say is: SEQUEL! Must! Read! Sequel!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: I look for stories with strong female characters. The main character in this book, Livak, is as good as it gets. The men here treat her as an equal, and even when one of them gets the wrong idea, setting them straight is not a problem. (This is, after all, fantasy!)
