Summary: Wonderful Characters- Long Book For Something to Happen
Review: This book is a wonderful entertaining piece that keeps you turning pages. You are introduced to a lot of characters and see the sides of 3 cultures (the Northerns, the Southerns, and the Nomads).

However...

It takes some time to get used to this particular style of writing as it jumpes around from person to person. It also took until the last 100 or so pages for something to really happen with magic. (the first part of the book was a feeling for all the characters and how each set got along with one another).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: enjoyable epic fantasy
Review: Twenty-nine years ago, an albino male child born to one of the hill tribes was left outside in the elements to die. The sorcerer Rahe rescued the baby and brought him into the Sanctuary carried out of the ice in the North lands. He laid a geas upon the child and kept him unaware of the world around him. When he showed Virelai what the world of the Elda was really like, the sorcerer's apprentice put a spell on him that caused him to sleep.

Virelai escapes the sanctuary taking with him some gold, a beautiful succubis, and a magical cat. They travel to the Allfair, a trading bazaar where goods from all nations are bought and sold. Through Virelai's actions, a chain of events is set in motion that will lead to sorcery rising once more in the world of Elda. Once the genie is let out of the bottle, chaos, war and death follow.

Fans of epic fantasy will enjoy reading SORCERY RISING, a novel reminiscent of the works of Terry Brooks and Tolkien. Jude Fisher infuses her novel with a sense of high drama so that readers will want to read the first installment of the "Fools Gold" series. There are multiple sub-plots that tie neatly into the main story line and the characters are well drawn and complex, making it hard to tell who is the true hero and who is vile villain.
