Summary: A focus on fear.
Review: In the afterward, the author states: "I've sought to fuel and govern my imagination by the Scriptures. To the degree that I've failed to do so, I ask the reader's understanding and God's forgiveness. Please realize that despite my genuine attempts to be true to God's Word, I don't claim infallibility for the book. In fact, I emphatically claim fallibility."

This book is based on literal interpretations and misinterpretations of the Bible, the devil, and evil. This is how the world looks if we gloss over the Bible without digging deeper and discovering its true and hidden meanings. We are pawns of demons and angels in a cosmic game? This is not what the Bible teaches!

For anyone who reads this book and is afraid of this world, read and remember Jesus' words in John 14: 12-14.

Randy, we understand, and God forgives you.

Summary: Wonderful book for young and old!
Review: Long a fan of Randy Alcorn, it is always a delight to get hold of a new book - hoping, praying it's as good as those that have gone before. No disappointment here. The subject of real spiritual warfare seems largley underplayed in the Christian world. We must remember what the Bible tells us - we are not in this alone. It is not just God and I walking through this life alone. Demons and angels battle for and against us. This book is an entertaining look at the battle for our souls we cannot see. Quick chapters make it a great read-aloud book for family time devotions, too. BUY IT.

Summary: Screwtape Letters Revisited
Review: Lord Foulgrin's Letters is a compelling update of CS Lewis' Screwtape Letters, with many added bonuses. I recommend this book to anyone who feels bogged down in the world and doesn't give much thought to the spiritual world around us. It will definitely turn your eyes to Jesus and help you face temptation. I highly recommend this wonderful book!

Summary: A Must Read...
Review: Mr. Alcorn has done it once again. I found that this book was thought provoking and real. In the book, Lord Foulgrin is discussing the battle plan for humankind. The battle for Jordan's soul is discussed and plans to separate him from the Carpenter's gift of salvation. Thoughout the book, there is evidence of the spiritual warfare that is occurring on a minute by minute basis. Yet, as you read the book, you can see yourself through the eyes of Jordan and his family. This book was eye-opening and a must read.

Summary: Another Alcorn winner
Review: Much more readable than C.S. Lewis Screwtape Letters and with more impact to the reader. Beware, the devil is alive and well but He who is in us overcometh. Lots of cautions for the reader and reminders of the provisions of God for the believer. I predict this classic will be on the best sellers list before the years out. Can't wait for Randy Alcorn's next book

Summary: Reading the Enemy's Mail
Review: My hat's off to Alcorn and to his publisher. This book looks great. It takes courage to tackle a masterpiece such as "The Screwtape Letters" by CS Lewis and to set the same premise in modern times...yet Alcorn rises to the challenge.

Alcorn skillfully feeds us snippets of the Fletcher family's struggles, then spices these with the demonic schemes of Lord Foulgrin, as seen in the dark lord's letters to a junior devil who's been assigned to destroy Jordan Fletcher by means devious or destructive. The malicious efforts of this satanic team are depicted strongly so that the reader is forced to either discount the reality of spiritual battle, or to face this reality by turning to the Tyrant (as God is called by Foulgrin throughout) for effective counter-measures and plans of attack.

The message of "Lord Foulgrin's Letters" is vital to the institution of family. By 'reading the enemy's mail' in this novel, we are given a clear wake-up call to take a stand for what's right. Alcorn's lessons dominate the storyline, which could've been fleshed out a bit, but these lessons are worth hearing. The story of the Fletchers could be the story of us all.

Summary: Viewing an unseen realm
Review: Of course, pleasing Him should be enough incentive to serve my Lord faithfully, but after reading the latest from Randy Alcorn, fouling up the schemes of the demonic realm is added incentive. In much the same way as the books of Frank Peretti shone a spotlight on the unseen world where true spiritual battle goes on, Alcorn's book has put faces and voices to the ones who seek our destruction. Valuable insight for the saved and the lost.

Summary: PUT THE DEVIL IN PROPER PERSPECTIVE
Review: Our accurate perception of God is critical to our relationship with Him. Likewise, if you know what God says about you and who you are then you need to know what the Devil will do to taint, or rather, destroy your relationship with the Almighty God. So, READ THIS BOOK. Find out what the Devil has in mind when you watch TV even though you feel a tug in your spirit to turn it off and go read the Bible. What does he want to achieve when you want to share the gospel with someone but don't because you reason that they are not yet ready or you don't want to come across as pushy. How does he twist your mind by controlling your language? Read this book and understand why the devil hates when we worship - truly worship. Are you soldier in God's army? If yes, read this book and be even more prepared to fight the battle.

Summary: literate AND funny
Review: Randy Alcorn continues to produce Christian writings of the highest quality. His Edge of Eternity is an allegory as literate as Pilgrim's Progress and as readable as The Hobbit. Lord Foulgrin's Letters is a collection of comic directives to an inept minor demon named Squaltaint from his frustrated mentor, Foulgrin. Modeled on C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters, Alcorn reveals the otherworldly efforts to deceive us and teaches us the dangers of our own foibles. I recommend Lord Foulgrin's Letters highly, but I'll never loan it out...I want to read it again and again!

Summary: A Deadly Enemy You Can't See or Touch?
Review: Randy Alcorn shows us how real and active the principalities and powers of the spirit world really are. His take off on C.S. Lewis' classic, Screwtape Letters, gives practical updated insights into Lord Foulgrin's evil mindset. This book may be so personel, you feel uncomfortable when you realize how many times you have, like me, been tricked by Satan and his demon messengers. Don't stay in the dark on this subject - read Lord Foulgrin's Letters and be enlightened and empowered.
