Reluctant Swordsman

Summary: A great story in the classic "reality switch" vein.
Review: This was the first work I ever read by the author, and it inspired me to go on to read others (i.e. his series which begins with "Magic Casement"). It is that type of story where the main character is pulled from mundane, dreary old Earth to another planet/time/dimension by strange -and usually irreversible- means. While it was written in a time where readers could not look at a bookstores' shelves without seeing another of the type, its extremely unique culture and its citizens -sorry, not an elf in sight- was quite refreshing. Add to this a superlative plot and interesting characters, and you have a winner.
