Summary: When will book 5 "A Method for Madness" be published?
Review: A great series, the background of the society is sketched out in Books 1 & 2 and expanded with subtlety in each sequal. Book 3 gives some useful insights into the mindset of survivors and technology begins to develop with increasing speed as a war economy emerges. Book 4 gives the final hint on what kind of alien we're fighting (think networks) and Book 5...isn't here two years after it was promised!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: "David, Wake UP!" Where is the next book?????
Review: As I lay there in St.Lukes Hospital after suffering a major illness my Physicians let me read to burn off the time I had to spend while they contimplated my fate. So I had my family bring me Volume #4. Well if I was going to meet my maker, at least I was going to enjoy the rich tapestry of Mr. Gerrolds art firmly embeded in my mind, one more time.I wondered if I was ever going to find out if the Earth surrivied the Alien infestation. Mr. Gerrold has the key to all of our answers, but like fine WINE it takes time to age so when we taste the efforts of the wine-master we apperciate the curring/creative process. Mr. Gerrold has rewritten his story before and prides himself in his ability to weave a tightly woven tapestry. So how long will it take this time? Who knows? I remember writing to Mr. Gerrold to ask him if we could expect the 5th installment of his epic journey into the depths of dispear and his responce was that "I am 2/3's done, just be patient" Well that was almost three years ago, and I know that sometime in 1999 we will see the next volume sitting on retailers bookshelves around the world. Be patient, Mr. Gerrold is an ARTIST at work....Remember he is from California, they function in a different dimension. Scream at your monitor or beat your monitor with your fists...belive me it will help you burn off your frustration waiting for the next book in this most marvelous series. If and when the 5th book appears we will soon forget that Mr.Gerrold played with our hearts and minds for 5 years and this discussion will start up all over again.... "David, where is the 6th book????"

Summary: Book 5 will come...eventually
Review: At the time of writing Book 4 (in 1994), Gerrold mentions that he was about 30,000 words into Book 5. I've looked up various mentions on the Internet since then, and one thing that Gerrold has repeatedly states was that Book 5 was very hard to write. From what I gather, Book 5 is literally a book where Jim goes insane and becomes at least partially terraformed by the Chtorran ecology. I gather that much of it will be halucinations.

In early 2001 David Gerrold mentioned on his website that he had just finished an important turning point in the plotline of the novel, and had also passed 100,000 words (with a projected book length of 300,000 words). His website now has not been updated in months, but still posts a 2002 release for A Method For Madness.

For all of you who are upset over the long wait, keep in mind that he is quite busy with other things. As his website says, he has a special-needs child that takes up a lot of his time and is more important to him than anything else. Just give him time.

Summary: The best on Chtorr series so far! A must read book!
Review: Back to the fast-paced action, sense of wonder and light style of the first book of the Chtorr series,Gerrold has in this book the best Chtorr book so far. If you have read any of the other books, it's awonder you are spending your time reading this review instead of simply ordering the book. Anyway, the heavier style of A Rage for Revenge has been discarded, and this book is much more akin tothe first book. For you, newcomers, even though you should start with A Matter for Men, here is whatthis is all about... in the XXI century, just as men is about to make a leap to the near space, earthis invaded by aliens. Instead of spaceships and guns, though, the aliens decide for a much moresubtle form of attack: terraformation (or, should we say, chtorranformation?). By the time we realizewhat's going on, only a fifth of the human race is still alive. And that was only the beginning. And,worse of all, as it is made clear in this latest book, some people still can't stand the idea of joiningefforts..

Summary: A book that leaves the reader wanting, no needing.
Review: David Gerold has written another book in this series that screams for completion. We are left in a world of frightening creatures from another world and I find myself captivated by the beauty and efficiency of this alien eco system. Never have I read a scifi series as captivating as this and find myself extremely upset that I have been left hanging as our worlds collide. This story must be completed by the fantastic mind that has produced it, David Gerold has an adventure that will be hard to surpass in any universe with his thought provoking view of an entirely alien eco system and the creatures that live within it. It is a must read for any one who claims to love scifi. Patiently waiting for the next novel in this series, but not happy about it.

Summary: It's the Chtorr or you!!!
Review: David Gerrold forth book Season for Slaughter is a very good book: It explains alot about the Chtorran infestation: The characters have how would you say it "come of age" in this book. If you liked the other three books you will like this one.. It gives you alot more than the first three where McCarthy and Lizard (the two main characters for those of you how are not sure) and the Chtorreans are concerned. I give this one 2 thumbs up ^

Summary: A Method for Madness
Review: David Gerrold has failed his LOYAL fan base. "A Method
for Madness" was David Gerrolds play on words for his
betrayal of those of us readers who purchased his works.
Up to "A Method of Madness" since his SO clever pun on
his failure to produce a fifth volume of the "War against
the Chtorr" series AND his publishers failure to "bother"
to EXPLAIN why the series wasn't compleated... I wrote
a finish for them.

Book V David Gerrold becomes infected with HIV and leprosy. He
dies a slow, painful, poverty stricken death. Alone and
unwanted. Justice is served.
