Rating: Summary: Best Fantasy/Romance/Comedy EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) Review: This is a really great story. Sharon Shinn combines unique style of writing, and mixture in the story, and i really appericate her for her work.
Rating: Summary: Imaginative, and unguessable Review: Summers at Castle Auburn was well thought out and written. Unlike usual stories of this nature, I was kept guessing at the fate of Corie,Kent,Elisandra,Bryan,Roderick and all of the characters in the book. The Detail was wonderful, and there was just enough mystery and action to keep me reading without getting a headthrob, and to keep me from getting bored.Sharon Shinn did a magnificent job and should be commended. It is my new favourite, and its wonderful and creative, and one of the best Fantasy novel's I have read so far. It isn't corny, like many of these books tend to be. Each individual story is tied with the rest in wonderful ways and I know you'll enjoy reading it. *****My compliments to Sharon, Cheers!
Rating: Summary: Summers at Castle Auburn Review: I am not going to elaborate on the plot since many have done so already. I was greatly disappointed by the ending of the book. The author didn't challenge herself or her readers by answering some very tough questions about slavery and how children of high status are treated like cattle for sale. The ending was too easy and the "twists" in the plot were predictable. Since many of the wealthy lords lost "half their kingdom" with the loss their slaves, the author made it very fairy tale like by having Corie go back to the castle with no punishments by any of the lords or bargains that had to be made to placate them. But, I still liked the book mainly because the main character, Corie, was interesting but very naive.
Rating: Summary: Perfectly Satisfying Review: I loved this book. i could not put it down, Shinn's subtle romance and her great descriptions were breathtaking. I do not like to over analyze books, so i will end with this: I thought this book was wonderful and i highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Perfect Satisfaction! Review: I just read this book, and I have to admit when I was done I turned it over and read it again. It's the perfect, easy to read fantasy that has everything you want- danger, romance, intrigue and royalty. Everything happens to the utmost satisfaction as the book follows the loveable protagonist, Corrie, through her adolecent summers at Castle Auburn. Twists will keep you guessing, and the thrill of what's coming won't let you put the book down. Perfect for romantics that want to be swept away and entertained to the utmost.
Rating: Summary: interesting read Review: I really liked this book. The author did a great job gradually making the main character, Corrie, grow up. The gradual maturation was really believable, and I grew to really like Corrie and the rest (and really despise the prince). The aliora were very interesting as well, and I would've liked to learn a little more about them, besides what they're like in captivity.
Rating: Summary: an unbelievably good book Review: I absolutely LOVED this book. Corie was a very likable, believable character with alot of spunk. The story line was very creative and intriguing. This is the kind of book that as soon as you finish it, you start at the beginning again. Shinn wrote this book so well that i got mad when Corie was mad, despaired when she was despaired, and shocked when she was shocked. I wish i had a Kent of my own!! I recommend this book to people ages 12 to 150!!
Rating: Summary: i love this book Review: After finishing this wonderful book i want to know more, what happens to the charecters? i think it is wonderfully written but it should have been more detailed and longer
Rating: Summary: Not just a light-hearted romance Review: Summers at Castle Auburn begins as the story of the boisterous half-noble Coriel who splits her time between her grandmother, a wise woman, and her adoring & adorable half-sister Elisadora at Auburn. As the title implies, very little attention is given to the winters she spends with her grandmother. The story doesn't lack for that, however; indeed, the characters and developing tension at Castle Auburn are riveting. The characters are well-drawn, though some don't become three-dimensional until the second of the three parts of the book--and some characters remain more two-dimensional than I would have liked. Angela is someone who becomes more developed as time goes on; Greta, however, doesn't get much development, and is seen as a mean-hearted, though not truly evil, woman. The growing love relationships are nicely done, as well. From having a childish crush on the petty Bryan, Corie develops friendships with guardsman Roderick and Bryan's cousin Kent, both of whom are interesting young men. Elisadora's impending marriage to Bryan is a growing shadow, and the moral dilemma of slavery rears its ugly head as Corie grows older and gains more insight into the realities of her divided world. Particularly interesting is the subplot involving Corie's uncle, and her changing feelings for him as she finally realizes that we can and must love people in spite of their flaws. The pacing of the story is good, though at times Corie's slowness to understand things can be frustrating to the reader (I realized by the middle of book two where the love relationships were going, but it took Corie until the last few pages, of course!) The means Shinn took to her ending was an unexpected and interesting twist. I read this in one sitting, and enjoyed it immensely. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good love/coming of age story.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful coming-of-age fantasy Review: Sharon Shinn not only writes beautifully, she's fantastically creative at coming up with scenarios that make one think while being entertained - in this case, about love and slavery. I hated for this book to end. Maybe there will be a sequel!
