Summary: A book for everyone! :)
Review: This is an awesome book! It's got something for everyone! I'm not a big science fiction fan, so I wasn't really looking forward to reading The Sterkarm Handshake, but I found it very enjoyable.

A group of scientists have discovered a way to travel back in time, to the 16th century. Windsor, a really annoying guy (he was kind of unrealistic, because he was like the epitomy of commercialism), wants to take all the resources from the 16th century and bring them back to make money. Unfortunately for him, the Sterkarms, sort of a rebel group that lives in the border area between England and Scotland in the 16th century, are very aggressive and won't let them. The scientists have convinced the Sterkarms that they are "Elves," and have magical powers, but the Sterkarms are still lying to them and disobeying their orders.

One of the 21st century people is a girl named Andrea, who has been assigned to live with the Sterkarms. While there, she and one of the Sterkarms fall in love, and when he gets hurt, she decides to take him into the 21st century to get him some medical help....

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! :) I loved Andrea and Per (the Sterkarm she falls in love with), but a few of the characters (namely Windsor) were kind of annoying. Besides that, I had a hard time putting it down. It's the kind of book where you have to pause for a moment while you're reading it to catch your breath!

Summary: An Enjoyable Read
Review: When I recieved this book, I was at first a bit skeptical, but needed something to read so I began right away. Contrary to my first notions of it, this book was enjoyable and well-rounded. The love story was subtle, there was enough action to keep you turning the pages, and the characters were, for the most part, well rounded and real. It was easy to associate with Andrea and her difficulties in deciding where her loyalties were, and Per and the other Sterkarms were three-dimensional and well-developed. The only charater who did not fit this description was Windsor, who is so evil that he becomes a caricature of what he represented. If Ms. Price had tweaked his personality a bit, he would have been much more believable. All in all, this was a very fun and engrossing read. I also recommend Philip Pullman's HIS DARK MATERIALS trilogy.
