Summary: Breathtaking
Review: I fell in love with this plot from the first chapter. The characters are well developed and complex, and each has a unique personality of their own. I have read this novel three times, and each time something new stands out for me. Sara Douglass is an extraordinary writer, I would place her on the same list as Robert Jordan and Terry Brooks.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A dull and uninteresting read
Review: I can't understand why this book recieved such high marks. I found nothing to like in any of the characters. Faraday, the "heroine" seems to jump from being witty and strong willed on one page, to a whiny, naive, little girl on the next. Not only that, the man she "falls in love with" (it seems more like puppy love to me) is equally unlikeable. Douglass seems to want us to believe that Borneheld, her betrothed, is an "evil" man that Faraday would suffer miserably with, but she give no examples to support his unsuitability. There was very little character development and frankly I didn't find any of her characters likeable at all except for perhaps Lady Embeth.

The only reason this book gets even two stars is the slightly interesting history of Achar. Really though, I wouldn't waste my money purchasing this book. If you want a good read, pick up the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, or the Shannara series by Terry Brooks.

Summary: The Wayfarer Redemption
Review: This is one of two series I have read, that the testimonials comparing these works to Tolkien are entirely apt. Not just a good read but, a great read!

Summary: Can't put it down
Review: I am not even half way through and it has proven to be one of the best reads I have found in a long time. The mysterious prophecy is an excellent addition to the plot. The book is fast moving but still is very descriptive. I was up reading for nearly 3 hours last night and nearly slept in. I am quite looking forward to finishing the book.
If there were more books like this I would sell my TV.

Summary: A real page turner
Review: "The Wayfarer Redemption" is an exciting and intriguing book. This book is probably my favorite book. I can't wait to read the next book, "Enchanter." I hope the second book is as good as the first. I'm sure it will be because Sara Douglass is an excellent writer. I can't wait to collect all six books.

Summary: Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. I went to the library and couldn't find anything that caught my eye, but I settled for The Wayfarer Redemption and decided to give it a try. I'm not usually a big fantasy reader, but this book was great! Before this book, the only books close to fantasy that I'd read were the Dark Is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper and The Hobbit. So I don't have much to compare this to, but I do know a good book and a good author when I see them. I was so surprised! It pulled me in from the beginning, though several of the character introductions were a bit confusing -- like the short chapter of the woman thrown on the mountain, or the intro of Azhure and GoldFeather, but other than that, it was great. Of course, you shortly find out who these people are and what they have to do with the story, but some momentary confusion is nothing in how wonderful this book is. The story is great, and I couldn't put it down. The characters are all interesting, and I found that I was even thinking about them as if they were real people outside of the book (though these aren't the only characters I've thought that way about). Douglass made them with enough flaws so they weren't sickeningly perfect and heroic. But all in all, I loved it. I'm a big fan of hers, and am impatiently looking forward to finding out how the prophecy works out and what happens to everyone. So, read this! It is definitely NOT a waste of time!

Summary: Douglass is the wonder from down under!
Review: Like the title of my review says, Douglass is the wonder from
down under.I got this impression from finishing this stunning fantasy epic.Douglass has now added her name to likes of goodkind, Martin, Clemens and Hobb and other esteemed fantasy authors. She takes us to the realm of the Acharites, who are religiously devoted to their god Artor and loyal to his the powerful seneschal and their god's intermediaies. The Archarites find their country attack by the evil Ice Lord Gorgrael and his terrifying army of flesh-eating monsters called skraelings. The only hope they have is in ancient prophecy of a savior called Starman who must unite the archarites with the people who they called the forbidden which include: bird-people called Icarii and nature loving race called Avar. This novel is filled with scenes of awesome beauty of this world, brutal realistic battle scenes and powerful magic.Douglass's skills in the world-building department are shown on ever page and her characters comes alive like the heroic leader of the Axe-Wielders, Axis who finds out how he fits into the prophecy on saving his people as he unraveles the mysteries concerning his birth.Faraday-the young woman who captures Axis's heart as she learns on her role in the prophecy and how she must marry Axis's worst enemy, his arrogant and cruel half brother, Lord Borneheld.Stardrifter, Axis's Iscarii sorcerer father who must unite his people and end
centuries of distrust in the hopes of stoping Gorgrael.Wayferer Redemption also has themes of on how religious intolerance can create falsehoods that destroy a nation. Douglass's battle scenes are bloody and terrifying in the intensity as you watch as the bloodthirsty skraelings lay siege upon city of Gorkenfort.
So stop reading this review and pick of this book and you won't be able to put it down!

Summary: A great story! But Sara, get a proofreader.
Review: I've just finished the book, and I don't feel quite as frustrated as one of the reviewers above (because I bought the book at a discount).

It's an excellent story, original, well worked-out, with attractive characters and a plausible storyline. The essentially heroic characters are just slightly imperfect enough to be interesting.

My personal frustration was with Sara Douglass' language. There were so many clumsy sentences that distracted from the flow of the read that I groaned. If the story had been worse I'd have simply dumped it. I guess I'm frustrated that Tor doesn't think these books important enough to assign a decent editor to the job.

But I'm looking for the sequel, and that tells you that it's a good read (particularly if you're insensitive to poor mechanics in the writing).

Summary: Read this Book
Review: Ok I really must say that i like this book and the rest of the series no matter what other people think about it. I've read a lot a fantasy and im not easily impressed ( i hate Goodkind's characters, and Jordan bores me to tears) But everyone has their own opinion about the stuff so its not right to say that someone doesnt know what their talking about if they happen to like something that you found particularly boring. You can say what u want about the author or the writing but u shouldn't criticize or belittle someones opinion.Oh yeah and if u dont like the book you can always get your money back by returning it.
Alright now that I've said that let me talk about the book a little and why i like it so much even though i really suck at reviews. :) Ummm i thought the characters were really good and i like the way they develope throughout the course of the series. (Though at times i do feel like killing some of the characters because of their actions) I like the authors writing style its fast paced, and humorous at times and its descrptive enough that you can visualize whats going on, but its not soo descriptive that you find urself losing track of the action because you just spent four pages reading about what people r wearing or the weather or whatever. I like the plot even though some may say its been done before but honestly what hasnt. OK i dont really have anything else to say so im gonna shut up now :)but i really want to recommend this book to everyone just dont not buy it because a few people say its horrible, read it and make up your mind for urself.:)

Summary: Fabulous...
Review: I can't believe what other people here have written! I simply can't believe it!
Obviously they haven't read the rest of the books, or they would NEVER have said that... As for the rest of the books, I'm speaking of the rest in the Tencendor series.
I'm not going to go through the plot with you - you can read that in the other reveiws - I'm h\just going to tell you that there is a LOT more to those books than is first apparent. The story begins with a rather straight forward storyline. I found it slightly complex, though that is nothing to how it ends!
As the story progresses, you feel that you are beginning to understand it. You finish the first trilogy feeling satisfied...
Then you begin the next three...
You are suddenly thrown into a plot that is a MILLION more times complex. There is so much more to it, and the story moves so fast. I honestly couldn't put it down.
I have read many books, yet I felt that these six had the storyline that was almost without fault, and the speed! I was left gasping! So much happens!
The only fault that I occasionally picked was that sometimes it was a bit too graphic, though it truly depends on the reader.
Overall, these are a truly fabulous series, definitely worth finding the time to read.
