Rating: Summary: Not Bad Ben... but not all that great either... Review: Well I've read all of Ben Mezerich's books and I think that this is his best, he is a talented writer and he does have a lot of that medical knowledge stored up in that head of his. Although I wasn't entirely thrilled with his adaptation of the show. It is obvious that he is a fan.. but not that great of one, i really got ticked off when he said that Scully's cross was SILVER! ugh. Also the villian's in this book are not all that believable, and I didn't really buy their motives. Mezerich did however sell me with his bits of knowledge scattered throughout the book, which let me flex my intellectual muscle. Overall its a decent book with a fairly decent plot that appears at first glance to be complex, but turns out not to be. It is a good read, i read it in two sittings, but if you havn't been introduced to Kevin J. Anderson, read "Ruins" or maybe "Antibodies" first.
Rating: Summary: Very exciting... but did it ring true? Review: When I bought "The X-Files: Skin I, like most of the Philes who reviewed it, was on the edge of my seat. It was thrilling and fast-moving, with lots of great character description and good imagery, with even a couple'a hints for us shippers, but I found that it didn't quite scare me as much as it should have. The original mythology/paranormal stuff was unbelievable, and although it was a WONDERFUL book, it didn't really have any spooky stuff. Although everyone has a different opinion and if you enjoy the purely terrestrial horrors, it will deliver!
Rating: Summary: Excellent novel! Review: When the torch passed from Charles L. Grant to Kevin J. Anderson, I despaired of finding an Xfiles novel that I really enjoyed reading again and again. And now I'm thrilled to see that the franchise has opened to admit a worthy author! Ben Mezrich has got the feel of an Xfiles episode down pat, from the repartee between Mulder and Scully to the plotting. Am looking forward to seeing another effort from Mr. Mezrich!
