Rating: Summary: Thouroughly Enjoyed The Book Review: This book held my attention from the very beginning of the story. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for what would happen next. I put myself in the book as I was reading and found that the possibility of the diaster that happened was very probable. Realizing this made the book much more real. What would we do if this happened and how would we prepare ourself for the event that all that we knew was gone. The book made me do a lot of thinking about what could happen. I could not put this book down until it was finished, then wanted more. Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great story.
Rating: Summary: Not science fiction, not plausible Review: I bought this book expecting it to be science fiction, as Amazon classify it as such, but is really a disaster novel with no science fiction element other than the scenario of planetary alignment causing a global disaster. Despite the blurb this is completely implausible. Jupiter, the largest planet, has 1000th of the Sun's mass and is 5 times further away so its tidal effect is completely negligible compared to those of the sun and moon. The other planets have even less effect, so no alignment can have more than a minuscule effect. I find it apalling that so many people are so scientifically illiterate that they swallow such nonsense hook, line and sinker. What destroyed my will to continue reading was when a character reveals that he was expecting the narrator because of a psychic revelation! I cannot be bothered to read nonsense like this.
Rating: Summary: I could not be bothered with the daily chores! Ask my wife! Review: Character development and believability were not even considered while reading this exciting book! I put off many chores and other things I wanted to do just to finish this. I'll use a highlighter later. I can't help but think that if the idiots on capitol hill read books like this then why-oh-why is our country still so screwed up?
Rating: Summary: Fast and furious action. Review: This book is great fun to read, hard to put down, and comes to a predictable but satisfying end. Those with a background in science or aviation will be a little annoyed by inaccuracies in the beginning, but fans of fiction will enjoy it overall. For a five-star, end of the world novel however, "Lucifer's Hammer" has no equal.
Rating: Summary: -a page turner Review: tells us a story that some of us know will happen . this may be the start of a good series like the ashes books . also the book did not get slow as some do , stay away from tree stumps and axes , if you read it you will know why.
Rating: Summary: Perfectly possible, quite close to home. Thought-provoking! Review: Being a resident of western Arkansas, this was very close to home. You would not believe how realistic this book is for the present and possibly the future. Y-2k is not the problem, the "shift" is what we mountain folk are gearing up for. The book is fantastic and movie-bound! Use its story for reference and perhaps, prepare yourselves!!
Rating: Summary: A definite 5 star book Review: This book lives up to the reviews (author's included). Reisig doesn't waste time with adjective-filled prose like many authors feel is required for every scene. It's non-stop adventure from the very beginning. And to top it off, there are a couple of the funniest lines in this book that I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Buy The Book And Hang On For Dear Life! Review: The only book I ever read that mesmerized me, hypnotized me, and captivated from page one! Find a place where you can grip the seat and you will read this book from one end to the other, non-stop!I also met the author, Michael Reisig and found him to be a lovely yet "regular-guy" type person. If done properly, this book has the potential to become the motion picture of the year!
Rating: Summary: A must-buy for those looking for a non-stop adventure! Review: Reisig's novel kept me in suspense! As an avid reader, I'm used to the typical adventure tale with the same-old predictable outcomes and solutions to the problems facing the heroes.....NOT SO with this book! None of the "standard" literary devices are employed here. Reisig has taken the theme of apocalypse and given it a brand-new twist, keeping his readers surprised at every turn. However, don't be fooled by the premise of the story. The characters are very real...so real, you may think you're reading about your neighbors next door. Reisig forces us to imagine what it would be like to be without the conventions of our every-day lives, and then forced to make monumental decisions. Take a ride with this novel, and you're likely to discover a few things about yourself in the process!
Rating: Summary: HIGH ADVENTURE ON THE SEAS AND THE LAND. Review: Loaded with adventure, violence with a purpose, romance and plenty of action, THE NEW MADRID RUN by Michael Reisig kept me reading steadily every night until the pleasantly surprising ending. I found that even my dreams became recharged with inspiration for action and survival, a surprising side-effect of having read this book. The very likable main characters have plenty of antagonists and obstacles to overcome which makes for very enthusiastic reading.
