Summary: A really good, if innacurate book.
Review: Although this book was well-written, I did not particularyly enjoy it. It does tell the story about Riverwind's quest for the true gods - the time inbetween falling in love with Goldmoon and meeting up with the companions in Solace. The story is interesting, but it becomes too complicated at times. The storyline is easy to follow, but too many details and side issues complicate the story.

I believe this book will make a good addition to any Dragonlance fan's collection. However, for the casual reader, this isn't a good book with which to start. Begin with the Chronicles trilogy. A good prequel to this book is the shirt story in the 3rd volume of the Tales trilogy - it sets the stage for this entire book.

Summary: Not bad... but not good either.
Review: I finished this book just recently. It has a relatively interesting story which kept my attention, but it was not exactly a page turner. It did a good job of portraying Riverwind, gully dwarves, draconians, and still fitting in with the storyline for the most part. Unfortunately, too much of the book is centered around the underground elves. The book should have been about Riverwind in Xak Tsaroth, not some band of elves that are never heard from again.

The characters are forgettable and I really didn't care very much what happened to them. It even did a good job tying up all the loose ends at the end of the book. The only problem is, I think a good book should surprise you and present you with characters you really care about and want to know about. This book didn't really get over the average book hill in my opinion.

Summary: simple but captivating
Review: I never really cared for whatever history Riverwind had to offer, i bought this book after sum thought only becoz 1) I had extra cash and 2) it wuz written by Paul Thompson and Tonya Carter who'z writing styles i admit , take a while 2 get used to , but after reading "Darkness and Light" (preludes 1 vol. 1 check it out! it'z also good!) which is the second novel they collaborated on , i jus had 2 give this talented writers another go as i did enjoy the novel mentioned above. After reading this book i had these thoughts in my mind 1) i did'nt waste my money 2) it'z a damn good book!! I'm glad dragonlance chroniclers gave this tall silent plainsman a chance 2 prove himself. Not only 2 his beloved Goldmoon , but 2 us readers as well. I for one seriously enjoyed the book. And hav no complaints on the pacing , it's not boring at the least. The characters are well handled , Catchflea lent sum humour 2 the trip. While Di An's vulnerability and puppy love feelings for Riverwind warmed my heart. (I'm glad in the end she did'nt get 2 fulfill her part of Catchflea'z prophecy). We are also introduced 2 a new faction of elves (this time underground dwellers , which reminded me strongly of Drow elves, frm which Di An hails frm) and "draconians" which r not really draconians to begin with (ophidians a result of experiments by a crazed alchemist in the story). All in all it's a great story , the action never lets up frm the beginning , it fades jus for a while 2 let u catch up then begins anew. Sumhow after reading this book Riverwind is'nt that distant or quiet anymore.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I was very surprised at this book. I thought it was going to be dull and boring, because I didn't really like Riverwind in the Chronicles. I was very surprised. Catchflea reminded me a bit of the bumbling Fizban, and I enjoyed that aspect of it. The only thing I didn't like that much was Di An. She was too dull. The book also had gully dwarves, which makes any DragonLance book worth reading, in my opinion. If you liked Riverwind only a little, this is a book to read.

Summary: one of the most boring books ever
Review: I've read a lot of books in my life and this is one of the worst. The Dragonlance novels tend to vary a lot in quality depending on which author it is, but this one is terrible.I tried and tried to finish it but I couldn't do it because the combination of the writing and the pacing of the plot conspired to put me in a coma. If you're looking for lots of action or interesting characters, read something else. I hate this book!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Pretty good, but a little bland.
Review: It doesn't quite tie in exactly with the Chronicles, but it stands fairly well on its own two feet(like Lyrexis). It is not really an important book, though, and better unbought.

Summary: All in all a good book
Review: Riverwind the Plainsman was an ok book. The biginning was somewhat dull but the ending made up for it. The prediction at the begining at the beginnig made you gess the whole time when and who it would happen to. Like some of the other readers have stated there is a slight confliction with the other books.

Summary: BLA BLA BLA
Review: sorry for all those ppl that like this book, i didn't i thought it was going to be about finding the true gods but it was only a small part of the story and and most of the story could only discrieb as BLA BLA BLA u won't find out nothing new or exiting in it so pass

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Very inaccurate!
Review: There are quite a few mistakes in this book, the big one being the Chronicles said Riverwind's quest took years not 8 months.

The 1st big sequence was very boring too. The writers did make up for their flaws afterwards though. Catchflea was very memorable character & the 2nd half of the book made up for the lackluster 1st half.

In all, a good book.
