Rating: Summary: Might Give Fett Pause Review: The "bad" characters often seem to become very popular, whether for their appearance, or for their infinite array of gadgets. This has been the case in the past with Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and in the early days of Talon Karrde and Mara Jade. Another issue has also been the lack of "female" players in the Star Wars Universe. This book solves both issues.A Female Bounty Hunter makes her appearance, or several appearances in this episode, and she appears to be nearly as capable as the formidable Boba Fett. This unnamed adversary has tricks that Fett cannot manage, and while we learn her species, we learn little else, other than the array of tricks, and deceptions of which she is capable. In a way she is even nastier than Fett, He keeps his actions to his quarry, while this Hunter seems pleased to engage as many adversaries as she can. The more the better. The messages being sent to younger readers are still for the most part positive. Aggression is a last resort even when dealing with formidable foes, and setting reasonable goals for oneself, and not judging yourself too harshly are taught well. The violence is still fairly mild, but is a bit more than previous episodes. The downside of this book is that it barely rates a book. Star Wars readers of all ages rarely complain that a book is too long, but even the youngest of readers will find this story annoyingly short. There are still many years that this series could cover; there is no shortage of material for as many books as George Lucas chooses to publish. However this book is a low point for what young readers get for their money, and if any reading group deserves more, it is the newest fans of Star Wars. Young readers don't read less, and they should be encouraged to read as much as possible. The ending goes beyond a cliff hangar and becomes just an abrupt halt. Only stopping in mid-sentence would have made it worse. So to George Lucas, Jude Watson, and anyone else who makes the decisions, it was the Grinch who was the stingy one, and even he lightened up. So give the readers more rather than less, they have supported this series, and readers in general are who provide a demand for all the Star Wars Books.
Rating: Summary: You'll Enjoy It! Review: The Deadly Hunter is a book I really enjoyed. The characters are amusing, like Didi, Fligh, or Astri. It begins with a friend of Qui-Gon's, Didi Oddo. Didi runs a cafe on Coruscant. He also passes along information for credits. His cafe is mostly occupied with scoundrels and people involved with the black market in some way. Qui-Gon decides to visit Didi, and Obi Wan occompanies him. Then Didi tells the Jedi some bad news-he is being stalked by a bounty hunter! When Obi Wan and Qui-Gon take a trip to clear things up with the bounty hunter, the find a Sorrusian who is extremly flexable, and talented. Obi Wan doesn't think it is their job to help Didi, but Qui-Gon will do almost anything for Didi. Obi Wan realizes how dangerous the bounty hunter is, but it seems not to matter to Qui-Gon. Can Qui-Gon and Obi Wan help Didi with his dangerous enemy? Who is spending such a large sum of money to have Didi killed? You can reveal the answers by reading The Deadly Hunter!
Rating: Summary: A deadly hunter has her eyes on Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. Review: The Deadly Hunter starts off with Qui-Gon Jinn introducing his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to an old friend, Didi. Didi is happy to see Qui-Gon because a bounty hunter is after him, and he asks them to help him. Soon they find out that not only is she excellent with a whip but that she can also compress her skeleton, which allows her to slip through small spaces, and that she is excellent at disguising herself. But she is not their only problem, the person who hired her is even more dangerous and sinister than the she is and that person will stop at nothing until she gets what she wants. This book was really exciting and I thought it was really good, but not as good as it could have been. I definitely recommend it to fans of this series and to other Star Wars fans.
Rating: Summary: The Deadly Hunter Review: The Deadly Hunter was overall a good book. It was a little short, but still worth it. If you have liked all the former Apprentice books you'll like this one.
Rating: Summary: Much better than the last few... Review: The Jedi Apprentice series has been a curious mix. It started off extremely well, went downhill for a couple of books, came back, went downhill again. Now the quality of the series appears to be on the rise again. This book is pretty much a whodunit mystery and investigation, punctuated with some cool action against an evil bounty hunter with a sort of lightwhip thing (it never really explained how that thing worked). Even though this book was a lot more exciting, fun, and readable than the last few volumes in the series, it wasn't perfect: it was too short, and from the title of the next book in the series you can kind of guess from the halfway point what's going on. The writing was of the expected high quality, and instead of hopping around the galaxy to various and sundry worlds, pretty much the entirety of this book takes place on Coruscant, and gives us a good look and contrast of the various locales therein. I must point out that Togorians are still over- and misused in this series. The action scenes were nifty, with the Jedi duo facing a finally worthy opponent instead of forced or "disbelief suspended" challenges. And the pacing was very good. If this book were complete, it would have been great. Unfortunately, Deadly Hunter is...truncated. It just sort of cuts off at what seems an ok cliffhanger point. There should have been at least another chapter. And it's not like it cut off because it was too long -- I think this may have been the shortest book yet in the series. Also, the cover art turned me off from the onset to this bounty hunter; I can't stand the cover although I usually love the artist's work. Still, this was a more than worthy addition to the series, even if the Jedi Apprentice line as a whole seems to lack any real direction at this point. The Deadly Hunter was sufficiently interesting to make me WANT to read the next volume, but I still find myself hoping this series draws itself to a close in the near future.
Rating: Summary: Real excitement and actions! Review: This book is a great book. It is probally my favorite out of all the series. It is a great thriller and is very hard to put down.

Rating: Summary: I loved it! Review: This book is excellent! Wow! I think the cover art is really cool with Obi-Wan standing there, poised for battle with the dreaded bounty hunter trying to snap her whip at him. I feel sorry for Obi-Wan, he never gets any food!! Have you noticed that Qui-Gon never eats himself? Weird! Are we sure he's even human? (j/k) Anyways, this book is probably the best JA book that Jude Watson has ever written. There are many close calls (If you've read the book you know what I'm talking about) and we get to see even closer into Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's relationship. Please read this book!! You will not be able to put it down! I LOVE OBI-WAN!!
Rating: Summary: A Killer Ending!!! Review: This book is great! The best in the series. I thought the previous ones were mostly about Qui-Gon Jinn. I didn't like that. But this one made up for them, I think. On top of that, the ending was fantastic! I've no doubt that the next one will be just as good. May the Force be with you as it is with me.
Rating: Summary: Get this book now! Review: This book is one of the best in the series. It was like a puzzle with no picture and you have to hunt for the pieces. Then just when you think you have the whole picture, another clue comes up and you have to re-think everything. It starts with Qui-Gon taking Obi-Wan to visit an old friend. Then within the minute, they got sucked up into this "mess" trying to save their friend. It is action-packed and I highly recommend it to anyone. And oh, it has a cliff-hanger ending so you better get the next book too.
