Rating: Summary: --Not worth the time-- Review: I really enjoyed WHEN THE WIND BLOWS, and was delighted to find that the author had written a sequel; however, this story was a major disappointment and didn't have the thrilling excitement of the first book. THE LAKE HOUSE really left me with a sick kind of feeling and the characters lacked the charisma from the previous book. The story itself was very simplistic and distasteful in many places, but I hung in to the end thinking that maybe something would get better, but it really didn't improve. You won't miss much by skipping this book.
Rating: Summary: boring Review: Thank goodness I didn't buy this audio book. I got it from the library to listen to. I cant believe this book has a waiting list at the library. It certainly was not worth the wait. I am not familiar with James Patterson's books . It is like a poorly written children's book. A very boring ,predictable ,slow story.I listened to the whole unabridged audio book thinking with each cd that it has to get better. It didn't. I gave it one star because the page will not let me post with out giving it a star. It doesn't even deserve one star
Rating: Summary: The Lake House Review: This book was a total waste of my time. The original story about the bird children was very exciting and as in most James Patterson books, the ending was a surprise. This one was totally predictable. I'll still read James Patterson's books, but this on was a big disappointment.
Rating: Summary: All plot with little else. Review: This is a weak, comic-bookish Sci-fi tale. Patterson can write much better than this. Oddly, the science is off to the point of silliness. For example, the mad scientist produces copies of himself so he can do many things at once. They are described as clones, but somehow they are mechanical supermen--a head continues to talk, while dangling barely connected at the neck. If you must read this sequel, or everything by Patterson, save your money and get a used copy.
Rating: Summary: Yuck Review: I am an avid Patterson fan, but I absolutely cannot believe he wrote this book! It was written at an elementary school level and was totally boring. I only finished it because I keept thinking it might get better, but it did not. Patterson has veered away several times from Alex Cross and has done quite well, but this book does not deserve to be a best seller. It is horrible and anyone expecting a page turner, will not get it here.
Rating: Summary: familiar ground Review: James Patterson has gone off the rails with this book. Revisiting the characters from When the Wind Blows might've seemed like a nice idea since that book is the best selling of all Patterson books. Unfortunately there is nothing new offered with this book. Essenitally the same plot as When the Wind Blows (the children are being stalked by a super-secret madman, while Kit and Frannie try to help). Whereas the Alex Cross series took quite a few books to become tiresome, it's achieved by the second book in this series. I greatly enjoyed the Patterson books of old, when the unexpected often occurred and the endings were unpredictable.....sadly this doesn't live up to his past work.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I really enjoyed When the Wind Blows. It was exciting and the short chapters kept me reading all night. I was thrilled when I heard the sequel was out, but The Lake House is not what I hoped it would be. I didn't care for the foul language for one thing. I read the book just because I had paid for it and I wanted to know what happened, but it was really pretty juvenile and predictable. Don't waste your time!
Rating: Summary: The Lake House Review: Major disappointment! After having read WHEN THE WIND BLOWS, I was looking forward to reading this sequel. Though "the resurrection" idea would have made a very good book in itself, I felt that the continued storyline of the winged children was far-fetched (and the dialogue just plain silly). Only because I had purchased this book did I make myself finish reading it. I honestly couldn't wait to be done, and, in the end, felt like I had just read an episode from THE POWER RANGERS.
Rating: Summary: Hastely Written and Not Entertaining Review: I did not read his prior works, but this book was listed in the top 10 of the Bestseller list so I thought it would be good. How wrong I was. The plot is shaky at best and its down right stupid. I have a vivid imagination but still, this book did not do anything for me except make me lose out on 20 bucks. I absolutely hate the stop and go of the story. Each chapter is only 2-3 pages long. The book I had read before this was Harry Potter. I was intrigued how on the very 1st page the author says that "muggles" would like this book. How very wrong you were Mr. Patterson, how very wrong you were. Bottom line, don't waist your time, find something betetr.
Rating: Summary: its a build up to another book Review: I think that it was more of a grounds to build a third and final chapter. I cant wait to read the next book. the reason why I feel that way is because there were alot of questions and no answers. I wasnt left hanging but I do feel that there were clues that alot was going to remain unresolved. I love the new approach that patterson is taking with his books. he writing more character driven books which I enjoy. I liked Alex Cross but I was always waiting for the other characters to be given some depth and he has done that with his last few books.STarting with When the Wind Blows.
