Summary: Very Entertaining Future History
Review: This is the final installment of McMullen's Greatwinter trilogy. This is the most entertaining future history series I've encountered in years. McMullen is a very good writer with a talent for creating enjoyable characters. As with the other books, there is a sprawling, complex plot which McMullen pushes along competently. He employs some very amusing ways of resurrecting (almost literally) characters from pervious books in the series. It would be difficult to read this book independently from its predecessors, which is not a drawback as they are quite enjoyable as well.
