Summary: Ridiculous story and boring
Review: Neither my 14-year-old daughter nor I could finish this book. I did read the last few chapters to find out what happened, but I don't think that counts. The character of Claidi is difficult to sympathize with -- she makes many stupid decisions and does not appear to learn from her mistakes. My daughter declared that Claidi is an immature twit. We picked up this book thinking it might be on par with Tamora Pierce's books, however, this is a very, very pale imitation. Don't bother buying the book if you are curious, just borrow it from someone or the library.

Review: Ok, this was a pretty good book. Mainly about a girl named Claudi. She was freed from her original "house" and she escapes with this guy named Nemian. He was a prince of some other house. As they are travelin back to Nemian's house, they met sheepers, featherers, and bandits. The bandits' leader, Argul, fell in love w/ Claudi, and asked her to stay. But she refused b/c Nemian begged on his knees asking her to stay w/ him. When Claudi thought Nemian was in love w/her. She was wrong. He had a wife. And now for some reason, the Wolf Paw (this main ruler of Nemian's kingdom) wants Claudi to be the heir. Well, you can find out the ending.

Summary: "You too, my girl, ought to be let out of your cage."
Review: Sixteen year-old Claidi has only known a life of hardship as slave to the spoiled Lady Jade Leaf. She has been raised on the constant observance of empty rituals and stories of the dangers of life outside the House, in the Waste. Her life has been full of misery until the arrival of a golden-haired stranger changes that. Lady Jizania Tiger, a House elder, helps Claidi escape with the stranger, Nemian, and tells Claidi of her royal ancestry. The girl follows Nemian into the Waste and finds that the feared land is not as terrible as she thought. It is full of wonders and adventure. In her journey across the Waste, Claidi meets the Hulta, a group of bandits, and their leader Argul, whom she slowly finds herself becoming attracted to. However, little does she know that she is being led each day towards her terrible destiny at the Wolf Tower. Here she will learn that trust should never be given easily and that love can come in many strange and wonderful forms.

This is a great first installment of the the Claidi series and should please many young fantasy fans. Through her journal, we see Claidi blossom from a naive and scared young girl into a strong and confident young woman. Although at times I found myself getting frustrated with her ignorance and sometimes petulant behavior, she grows so much towards the end that I found myself really rooting for her. This should leave many readers eager to get their hands on the next book in the series, "Wolf Star."

Summary: Wolf Power
Review: Step into Claidi shoes. She is a slave girl with a horrible Mistress Jade Leaf. She goes from a Cinderella to a misguided heroin leading a none too helpful companion Nemian who promises to take her to the mysterious wolf tower. Then she is saved by helpful Robinhood type bandits. Their leader is the very dashing Argul who is in love with Claidi. Claidi must make a choice go with the unpredictable Nemian who is unfaithful and saved her from her former fate or Argul who loves her.
This book is written in diary/chapter form. The plot twists and interesting characters make this a great book. Tanith Lee takes you through the wonderful first steps of Claidis life.
**If you liked this also try Tamora Pierce, John Christopher, Celia Rees, or Ursula K Leguin

Summary: ||turned to be one of my favorite||
Review: Tanith Lee really got a talent to let her readers enjoy her books. Wolf Tower is one of the series of the Claidi Journals. Claidi is on the run with a golden stranger accompanying him across his land in Waste, but during her journey she finds many people and gains many experiences. The story turns out to be a little slow at first but once you follow the points of view of Claidi, you won't let yourself rest until you finish reading the book!

Summary: Fresh, atypical fantasy
Review: Tanith Lee writes marvelous YA fantasies-- witty, imaginative, vibrant, and thoroughly entertaining. Wolf Tower is an excellent example of her many talents, including the rare ability to write in the perspective of a teenager-- and make it sound completely genuine and convincing. There's a marvelous sense of immediacy throughout the novel as it is told in the form of a journal by sixteen year old Claidi, by turns sharp, naive, and sarcastic.

Most readers (particularly teenage girls) will be able to easily identify with Claidissa Star, even though they haven't been virtual slaves in a tightly ordered and hierarchical House. Despite continuous harsh treatment, Claidi retains much of her rebellious nature. When the handsome stranger Nemian comes to the House, she is given the opportunity to journey with him to dangerous and bizarre lands beyond the House's confines where she has her own destiny to fulfill. But it's not a destiny Claidi particularly wants...

Peopled with lively characters from a mix of highly original cultures, Wolf Tower is an unusually creative and unpredictable YA fantasy that neatly avoids many fantasy cliches and tells a thought-provoking story at the same time. If you like Wolf Tower, your best bet is probably either waiting for sequels, or reading Tanith Lee's Unicorn trilogy (Black Unicorn, Gold Unicorn, Red Unicorn) which contains the same level of originality and intelligence. By the way, Wolf Tower is one of those books that gets better with multiple readings-- I liked it much more after rereading it.

Summary: a swell journal that tells like a noval
Review: the first book of the claidi journals is not like any book out. the story tells of a naive and headstrung servant girl who wants out and will do anything to accomplish it. Claidi is a lovable character with a lot of heart. her writings are truly those of a young woman with a lot of passion. i really love the way tanith writes in this book, its very honest about the character's feeling of what is happening in the book. i was so hooked on this book that i finished it right away and went to the library for the rest of the series. i liked it so much that i had to get my own copies of the whole series.

Summary: Wolf Tower
Review: This adventurous book will have you craving for more! Well, before I cut to my opinion let me tell you a bit about the book itself.
Claidi is a servant to this wretched princess Lady Jade Leaf, who is always complaining. So, Claidi is fed up with her and so is everyone else. Well, one day the hate pauses for a few moments. A mysterious balloon is found and shot to death. They retrieve a handsome young man with talent, looks, and charm. When the royal families question him he gives the oldest Lady a flower to which she understands something others don't. Lucky Claidi is chosen by the old woman to go on an adventure with this fine man whose name is Nemain. Together they go for an adventure that Claidi will never forget. Also, you get to read it from her thoughts from Her diary, so it is like you are with her all the way!
I Loved this book because it shows you that first impressions aren't has great as they seem, and that there really is no such thing as love at first sight. Claidi is like a hero to those who aren't outgoing and free willed. I look up to her for that and I think the author wrote a very good book! So, are you ready for the challenge? If you are then get the book now and READ!!!
