Summary: A very good book
Review: My Language class in school is currently reading this book. It's about a 10-year-old girl named Annemarie Johanson, and her Jewish friend Ellen Rosen who are both growing up in World War II, 1943. The Nazis are sent by there leader Hitler to kill all those who are Jewish. Annemarie and her family protect Ellen and her family from the Nazis. This book is very good. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical-fiction. :)

Summary: A story of two friends in a frightening situation
Review: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry was one of the greatest books I have ever read. It is a Realistic-Fiction novel set in World War 2 in Coppenhegan Denmark. The story is about a Christian girl named Annemarie who is 10, her family, and Annie's best friend a Jewish girl named Ellen who is also 10. Annemarie's family takes Ellen in to stay with them to protect her from the Natzies. Ellen takes on Annemarie's dead older sisters name to protect herself and Annemarie's family. They escape Coppenhagen and go to Sweden. There another family takes them in to protect them. They run into even more trouble in Sweden, and Annemarie finds out about her past and other things she would have never imagined. Will Ellen make it out of Europe, and if so will she ever see Annemarie again? Read this book and find out. I recommend this book for children ages 8-14 who want to read a suspenseful book that you can't put down.

Summary: Number the Stars
Review: Number the stars by Lois Lowery is a book full of adventure and excitment. I liked this book because Annamarie Johannsen (the main girl) goes on a life-threatning "mission." My favorite charactor is Annamarie Johannsen because she puts herself out there without thinking of herself or the dangers. My single favorite moment is when Annamarie is stopped by four police men and is asked to open her basket. To her surprise she finds out whats in the bottom of her basket. So if you like adventure and excitment then this is the book for you!!!

Summary: One of the best books I read as a child
Review: I read this book when I was only 9 or 10, and it made an impression on me then. It continued to make an impression on me every time I re-read it, no matter how old I was.

The book is set during World War II, and it tells the story of the war through the eyes of a Christian girl living in Denmark. Although Annemarie, the main character, is a Christian and not in danger of being sent to a concentration camp, her best friend is Jewish and she may find herself in trouble.

The book is well-written and is easy enough to understand for a child. The storyline is engaging, and the plot will keep you interested. This book helps reinforce the idea of what really happened during World War II, and it also helps to dissipate the idea that the war was a big joke and calling someone a Nazi is a funny insult. This book should be taught to all children in elementary school; it leaves an impression on all of its readers.

Summary: 5 Stars for Number the stars
Review: This is an excellent book that talks about a difficult subject. This book is amazingly well written, touching, and appropriate for the age group for which it is written. So oftne this subject is watered down to make it palatable for young audiences. Usually, that means it gets dumbed down. Not in this book, Lois Lowry writes knowing that kids can understand and be moved and inspired by the events in this book. It has children as the main characters, ones that are experincing the same problems all 11 -12 year olds are, with the added complication of WW2. This makes the subject less like a history lecture, and more like a lesson in human endurance.
I think this book is an excellent book for anyone, not just children.

Review: I read this book several times when I was in elementary school because I loved it. It is set in Denmark during World War II. It is a very touching story about friendship and how two girls had to grow up really fast because the Nazis were taking over their home land. It is about a girl who has a Jewish friend and has to keep her in hiding so that the Nazis will not take her away. It is a beautiful historical story. All middle school children should read this book.

Summary: Number The Stars
Review: World War II is raging all around Annemarie Johansen, and she is very frightened. Number the Stars by Louis Lowry is a historical fiction novel of a little girl who is very brave.
The plot of Number The Stars is of a girl who is ten-years old while World War II is going on. There are food shortages, and the Nazi soldiers are coming. The Nazi's are marching all over Annemarie's hometown, Copenhagen. They are knocking at everyone's doors, and checking all of the houses for Jews there. If Jews are around, then the Nazi's will take them to a concentration camp, in other words a death camp to die. Annemarie and her family let her best friend, Ellen Rosen live with them because Ellen's parents are hiding from the Nazi's. Will Annemarie and her family save Ellen? Well that's one thing you'll have to find out on your own.
The main character, Annemarie Johansen, is ten-years old with short blonde hair and brown eyes. She is very brave not only because of the war, but also because the soldiers checked her house for Jews. Ellen is a Jew but... I can't tell you the ending!!
The setting takes place in Copenhagen around 1943, and when the story ends, the year is still the same. The story adds to the its theme, because you have to be brave during a war, I mean, you never know what will happen, you could even die.
I really liked Number The Stars because it was very exciting and I learned a lot from it about the war. As well as those reasons for my opinion, I have one more. They are, it was very interesting and very historical. I recommend this book to the ages between 10-13, because it might be a little challenging for younger children.

Summary: number the stars
Review: Number the Stars is really great and well-written. Annemarie is really brave, and so is Ellen. I really like how it's placed in Denmark, and not the USA. This book would make a really good movie.
