Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An Excellent Book Review: Number the Stars is an excellent book by Lois Lowery. It discribes the lives of a Jewish girl and her friend who isn't Jewish in Denmark during the Holocaust in the 1940's. Annamarie, the main character, has to be brave and help her mom, dad, and uncle sneak her Jewish friend Ellen and her parents to Sweden where they can be free.Ellen has to be brave too because she has to leave everyone she knows except for her parents. I don't really have a favorite part, but one thing I didn't like was that so many innocent people died. If you want to know if Ellen makes it to Sweden safely, or if you are really into World War II, I recommend you read this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is an important book for every child to read. Review: I am studying to be an elementary teacher, and I read this book for a children's literature class. This book was very well written because it vividly shares the reality of life during the Holocaust while protecting young children from many of the details that might be too frightening for them. This book is unique because it gives a child's perspective of the Holocaust, detailing how living circumstances changed and how friends were taken away. I think that every child should read this book because children need to understand that the Holocaust was real and was not just some event in history. We should never forget the tragedy it was.

Review: Miranda likes this book because it was sad the way she has to leave her friend. Stephy loved it because she likes books about friendships and survival. Jenny likes it too because it showed trust between two families of friends. Amber thinks it's a good book the way it shows two friends who stick it out until the end. Megan feels it's a good book also because it gives a historical account of how Jews were treated in Denmark and it was a great book to read for a history report.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Too Straight Foreward Review: I know this is because I read THE GIVER first but I expected a much more complex, compelling story, and this one is just a normal book. And I also thought it was pretty cheesy when Annemarie, the best runner in her school, had to run to save her friend. Lame chapter titles too (My Dogs Smell Meat!)
