Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not my cup of tea Review: It is about a girl named Anmarie and her best friend Ellen. All the Jews in their town are being relocated, and Anmarie and her family are helping Ellan's family to escape. I didn't really like the book, but I was supposed to read it two years before I finally did. Still, it involves caring, trust, fear, and... commitment?

Annemarie, a ten-year-old girl, and her family are close friends with their next door apartment neighbors, the Rosens. Annemarie and her family, the Johansens soon find out that the Rosens would be taken away by the Nazis because they are Jewish. So the Rosens give them their daughter Ellen, Annemarie's friend, to protect her from the Nazis while they try to escape town. So, it is up to Annemarie and her family to protect Ellen as they travel great distances, trying to avoid the Nazis. I like this book because it's so suspenseful. Every time the Nazi soldiers encountered or invaded the Johansen's home it made you think and wonder if the Nazis were going to take them away or if they were going to shoot them. I recommend this book to other people to read because it teaches them what the Holocaust was and what horrible things the Nazis did to the Jews.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Interesting historical look at the Naxi occupation of Denmar Review: I'm reading all the books I want my homeschooling son to read this year! "Number the Stars" was quite interesting and gave me a different look at WWII. Of course I knew about the Nazi's in Denmark and Holland because of Anne Frank. This book provided detail to the Christians view of Nazi occupation and their unswerving devotion to helping their Jewish friends hide and survive. I'd recommend this book for kids younger than my son's 11 years. Perhaps 5th or 6th grade.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Besides harry potter, the best book ever Review: I liked this book because it was about the nazis taking over denmark and was a lot like the diary of anne frank but much better.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Book Worth Reading Review: Number the Stars is a sensational book! It clearly explains the hardships in Denmark in 1943 in a way that kids my age can understand. It is a book full of suspense and emotion. Number the Stars is filled with characters that will touch your heart with their bravery. It is a wonderful book to read for information about Denmark in 1943 because Lois Lowry, the author, got information from a friend who was a child in Denmark during the Nazi occupation. I love this book because it tells about a girl who will risk her own life to save Jews. I guarantee that this book will touch the heart of every reader.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: People can make a difference Review: This Newbery Award winning book is based on the true story of the Danish people. The Danes saved over 7000 Jews during World War II...other countries took stands against the Nazis, but the Danes proved that people can make a difference. Annemarie was just 10 years old, and may have been the bravest little girl in Europe and she didn't even know it...Annmarie learns that courage comes with convictions and soon realizes that she can survive the brutality of the Nazis and save her friend Ellen Rosen. A wonderful historical note follows the book that just really places the book in terms of history. Another book that is a great read-aloud for home and the classroom.

However, with a prize winning author i found that the chapter titles were not well thought out. But the book its self had a good plot, yet at some points unrealistic.
