Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This Is A Very Good Book Review: Exually I just came to the United States a little more than one year, but this book, Number The Stars, is the best English book I've ever read. It kept my attention to read on and on, until the end. I even wished that the book never ends so I could know more about it. I know that it's impossible, and that will probably make that book bored so that it's not a good book anymore. In this book, I saw a sincere friendship, and I knew about the history that discribed in the book. It's vivid discription made me saw pictures and pictures. I saw the two little good friends, Annemarrie and Elen; I saw the smart, brave mother and father, also the uncle and Peter, who helped the Rosen family to go to Sweden to find their freedom and safety. Annemarie was a brave little girl too, and she's smart. I also saw those fiendish German soldiers, who tried to stop them many times. I learned things in this book. I realized that a friendship can last forever; and people should help their friends when they needed, "that's what friends do", as Annemarie's mother said. This is a very good book, the librarina told me that too when she was handing it to me, and I hope you can read it when you have a chance. I bet that you will enjoy it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Ara's Thought Review: NUMBER THE STARS¡°Number the Stars¡± was set during the German occupation and indeed was a hard time for all who lived in Denmark. Annemarie Johansen life is falling apart when the Germans start to relocate the Jews. Through the eyes of ten-year-old Annemarie you encounter heroic acts by citizens and heart pounding journeys. So the war goes on and Annemarie¡¯s parents take responsibility for Annemarie¡¯s best friend Ellen Rosen, while Ellen¡¯s family runs to safety. Later on Annemarie takes part in a daring scheme, which involves her helping, smuggle the Rosens and other Jews to across the water to Sweden. Not too long ago Annemarie lost her sister in a car accident. So when the Germans are relocating the Jews they come upon Johansen¡¯s home with the birth certificates and information ready to see who is there and not there. Luckily, again the will of them they do not see that the older sister was 19 years of age yet Ellen is way younger. Not noticing that, they believe Ellen as part of the family. Another act of courage that inside they had made brought them over this obstacle. Annemarie finds out why his father would to die to protect his King. To me courage, loyalty, and humanity are the main themes in the story. In the book these adult like themes are put to a child¡¯s perspective. The Holocaust was a very horrible in the story. The outcome of the failure is not spelled out, however it seems like the readers bring in their imagination to the outcome of the even kids feel like even if the plan does not work out there is potential consequence. That is why this book is good for people who like history and WWII and so on. The plot of this story is very strong but the real thing going on is the friendship between Annemarie and Ellen. These two girls are close and so close that they decide to help each others families and in doing this they have a made a big choice. There is one point where they are close to being caught in Uncle Henrik¡¯s boat. They are transporting some Jews to Sweden when the Germans arrive and they think of putting some handkerchiefs scented with rabbits blood so the dogs would be distracted from smelling humans in a secret place in the boat. It is the courage and loyalty in them that takes lets them going on in their rescue procedure. The moral of this once again is loyalty, friendship, courage, and humanity, and this is conquered in the book and that is why ¡°Number the Stars¡± is serious my favorite book ever and I recommend it to all kids who can read and who know what friendship is.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very touching! Review: I read this in two days. It was so wonderful I couldn't stop. The whole thing with Lise was so sad, but in the end all was well. Throughout the book you'll probably have many questions but in the end everything is wrapped up. Annemarie learns the truths behind the war, and how cruel life can be. But you also learn that even the most unsuspected people can have courage when called upon and everyone has bravery somewhere inside them. I just couldn't put this book down. It is a wonderful book and I know this may sound cliche and everything but it really touches the heart. The only fault I found with it was that I really wished it could last longer. That's how good a book this was.

Review: This by the same author as "The Giver" and, though different in subjects, both books touch the mind and heart. The story tells of a Danish family during World War II that works hard to in the midst of Nazis and to help their Jewish friends. The book gives many accurate and informative details of life in Europe during the war. There are many feelings and emotions: fear and bravery, love and anger, intelligence and empty-mindness. It is very good for young readers, as it teaches all about the war experience and the many thoughts of the war. I don't have many details, but that is only because the book pretty much speaks for itself and you've got to read it.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Number the Stars Review Review: Number the stars shows you what it was like for children during the Holocaust. In the book their are two ten year old girls Annemarie Johansens and Ellen Rosen. The Nazis come to take Ellen and her family away so her parents send their daughter to the Johansens. I thought the story was a very good portrayal of what 1943 Denmark was like. The book helps you understand what genocide is and how horrible this period of time was for people. I think the book is a good choice for people to read. It is not fake, it is very realistic it doesn't have your sugar coated necessarily happy ending. It throws in real life endings, situations, and outcomes that is desperately needed in young adult books.
