Summary: What would do if you were Annemarie?
Review: Running for your life at only 10 years old! Annemarie has to run and hide from the Nazi's. Number The Stars by Louis Lowery is a very touching and emotional book! Annemarie and her family are in a sticky situation by helping their friends, the Rosens, escape to Sweden. They are escaping because the Rosens are Jewish. I am a historian at heart and since this book deals with the events of WWII I find it highlly interesting.I recommend this book for young and old adults.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This is a great book
Review: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry is a great book that is why i gave it four stars.
This book is about a young girl and her Jewish friend during WWII. They live in Denmark. During the story the holocaust starts and Annemarie`s family tries to help Ellen, a Jewish friend of Annemarie`s, and her family. Ellen stays with the Johannsen`s, Annemarie`s family, when the holocaust begins. During one night Nazi soldiers go to the Johannsen`s apartment to see if they are hiding Ellen`s family. The Johannsen`s lied and said that Ellen was Annemarie`s sister. So then they have to find another way to protect Ellen.
During the book Annemarie learns what it means to be brave. She had to stand up to German soldiers while delivering a vital package to her uncle. She also has to lie to the soldiers during a fake funeral. Even though she was afraid she still did what she had to do so that her friend could be safe. This really is a great book that I think is good for anyone to read. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a great book to read.

Summary: Stupendous Book
Review: I read this book when I was about ten years old and I absolutely LOVED IT! I'm very interested in the Holocaust and enjoy reading books that can put you into the situation of the main character. This book most defenitley did that for me. It's a story of friendship, hardship, and a maturing young mind. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Summary: Not Just A TItle For Children
Review: I am a 9th grader in Cleveland Ohio. I read this book in 6th grade. It is an excellent book. It deals with real life today and real life back then for Jews. I have an American History class. We were watching Schindler's List. That is an excellent movie. Number The Star and Schindler's List are almost a hole in one. The deal with the same thing in almost the same way. Even though Number The Stars is known as a children's title, I think people of all ages should read it. It is no lie one of the best books I've ever read.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Must-Read Regardless of Your Age
Review: First I should say that I work in a bookstore. Since I hadn't read a young adult book in nearly 30 years, I decided to read a few to learn what to recommend to customers. The first one I picked up was 'Number the Stars.' It blew me away.

Lowry has written an incredibly moving account of the Jews in World War II Denmark. Annemarie Johansen worries what might happen to her Jewish friend Ellen Rosen as the Nazis capture and "relocate" all Jews. During this time, Annemarie learns about the power of evil, the strength of family, and the unbreakable bonds of friendship. Lowry does a masterful job of showing how Annemarie grows up before our very eyes in the way she interacts with her little sister Kirsti, her friend Ellen, and the ever present Nazi officers. Annemarie learns several lessons throughout the book that she'll never forget. We won't forget them either.

This is an incredibly moving book. There are very few books that absolutely everyone should read. This is one of them.

Summary: Number the Stars
Review: I liked the book, even though it is typically not my type of book. Number the Stars is a good book to learn about World War II. The reason why I liked this book is because one family is trying to save another family from the Nazis. They had to go through a lot of
trouble to get them safely to Sweden.

Summary: It was a TEN
Review: When you first pick up Lois Lowry's Number the Stars you begin to wonderwhat grade level it is meant for. As you begin to read you realize that this book is beneficial to one and all. The stories may be written from fictional characters but believe that this book was far from fiction, as the stories told in this book are very similar to that of many Jews in the European area at that time in history. The book has many contemporary stylings, especially the way that the characters are depicted, the vocabulary used by Lowry, and the structure Lowry uses to complete the book. This book maybe short, however in my opinion many things are about quality not quanity and this book definatly is quality. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to really feel what is was like to be a Jew during the early to late 1940's.
