Summary: An undeniable classic
Review: Though I was a child when this book was first published, somehow I managed to avoid reading any Lois Lowry until 2003 (much to the shock of my friends). It was worth the wait. This story departs from the usual World War Two fiction genre by placing the story in a unique setting with a different perspective. Everything occurs in Denmark, and we see the story unfold through the eyes of young Annemarie Johansen. Though she is not directly threatened by the actions of the Nazis that have invaded her peaceful country, her best friend Ellen Rosen is. Annemarie must use her head to save her friend from the concentration camps while endangering herself. I was impressed with the fact that the threat presented by the Germans in this book was made real without relying on gory details. In this way, Lowry has created a book about the Holocaust that is appropriate for juvenile readers. Be warned: There is no perfectly happy ending at the end of this story (the reader is not absolutely certain that the Rosenbergs have escaped and are coming back) but it should satisfy most children. Well worth a read.

Summary: Number the Stars
Review: This book is historical fiction. It's about a ten year old girl named Annemarie Johansen and her best friend Ellen Rosen, during 1943 when Hitler is killing the Jews. Their life in Copenhagen is filled with school, food shortages and Nazi soldiers marching in their town.

The Nazis won't stop searching for the Jews. The Jews of Denmark are being relocated, so Ellen moves in with the Johansens and pretends to be part of their family. While her mom and dad are hiding somewhere else she stays at that family. One day Annemarie is asked by her mom to go on a dangerous mission to save the lives of her best friend and her family.
The part of this story that happened to Lise and Peter is really sad. If any likes sad stories you should read this book and find out what was really sad.

Summary: ZZZ.....ZZZZZ......ZZZ....
Review: I read Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.
The book was set in Copenhagen, Denmark. It took place when the nazis and Hitler were invading. The main character was a girl named Anne-Marie. She was just a normal girl who lived in an average apartment with her parents and her little sister Kristi. Anne-Marie best friend Ellen was Jewish however, and the nazis were trying to get her and her family and take them prisoner. Peter, a relative of Anne-Marie hid Ellen parents. Meanwhile, Ellen was living with Anne-Marie and her family.
Back then for some strange reason, the Germans weren't going to invade Sweden. Ellen's family saw this as an opportunity to get freedom from the nazi soldiers. Anne-Marie and her folks wanted to help get Ellen's family across to Sweden. All the other Jews who had successfully escaped had done it by ship. But the Germans started to realize this and bought dogs that could sniff out people that were hiding on the ship.
Can Ellen and her family make it safely across to Sweden? Read the book to find out!

Review: This book has to be the ONLY interesting fictional history book that I have ever read in my life. It talks about this girl, Annemarie, the main character and her best friend Ellen. Both of them are Jewish girls hiding from the Nazis.

This book is really good! I think it is really good because it kept me just wondering what was going to happen next. That is saying a lot too... because normally I dont like to read Historical Fiction books, but this is really good! I enjoyed it and think you will too.

I recommend this book to people ages 12-18. The younger kids just wouldn't understand, and well, the older ones would loose attention of this.

This book is good for book reports, free-time, or anything really for that fact. Well, I enjoyed this book and hope you will read it and enjoy it too!

Summary: Excellent for class reading
Review: We read this book a couple of months ago. We loved it!! This book is about two friends. Anna is trying to help Ellen hide from the Nazis because Ellen and her family are jews. Every time you end a chapter, you always want to read more. It might not be one of the best books in the world but you should check it out someday. This is a great book for class reading and it also has great vocabulary in it. (...)

Summary: Interesting, but A Bad Ending
Review: Most of the book was very exciting and it kept me reading. But the end was a disapointment. I was left thinking,"That's it?" However, aside from the bad ending it's an excellant book and I felt for the main characters. Then again, I am Jewish so the Holocaust might affect me more than someone else.

Summary: good book
Review: I gave this book 4 stars. I likted this book because it taught me alot. I learned how much the people suffered during the holocaust. I felt really bad for the jews who had to deal with that i also felt bad for the people that got killed helping the jews like Peter and Lise. I am glad i did not live during the holocaust times I would be really scared and wouldnt know what to do. I would recommend this book to anyone.
