Summary: Pretty Good
Review: I enjoyed the early books more. This one seemed less about adventure/combat and more about relationship dynamics and character development. Still, I finished it and enjoyed it, can't say that about most books on the fantasy shelves. Very well-written, intelligent.

Summary: Enjoyable, however it pales in comparison to the first four.
Review: I have totally enjoyed all of Tiger and Del's adventures thus far, and I enjoyed Sword-Born until a certain plot twist toward the end caused me to disagree with the author - something I really do not enjoy doing. For four novels, I had the chance to get to know these characters, and so reading Sword-Born was like coming back to a favorite spot. I particularly enjoyed the fact that these two characters had finally reached a point with one another that they could finally relax and truly enjoy the other's company. I was delighted with the humorous tone of the story and the increased banter between the characters. What I did not like was the fact that the author tried too hard to write the book for those who had not read any of the previous Sword books. The constant re-iteration of what had happened before became to boring and slowed the plot. My major complaint, however, is that in my opinion, I feel that, to a point, the author betrayed her character and her readers. The way that one character is changed as a result of the story twist is not, in my mind, a positive experience, and now the character is more limited in options and time. This plot twist forced me to read ahead to convince myself that it was worth continuing, and once I did, I was molified, but not happy. However, I am looking forward to the next book, in the hope that Del and Tiger can go back to what they know best - Sword Dancing.

Summary: Sword-Born
Review: I just finished Sword-Born and loved it. (took me only 3 day to read it!) I was lucky enough to have been able to read all 5 books in the sega one after an other. I now can't wait until Sword-Sworn is released. Diffently worth the money! :-) I really liked the history behind Tiger and Del, and how they joined and made their own together, without losing thier own sense of self worth and determation to complete the quests they had set for themselfs. Jennifer Roberson has a wonderful way of filling your mind with pictures not words. I felt that I was there next to Tiger and Del. I have read at lest 7 of J. Roberson's books and I haven't yet been disappointed in any of them.

Summary: The series is over?! Noooo!
Review: I loved this book. I've been a fan of Jennifer Roberson's work for roughly a decade now.
I eagerly awaited the publication of this book and I wasn't disappointed.
The same, incorrigible Tiger and the same, irrepressible Del. Fabulous to visit their world again and their adventures from Skandi back to the South.
If you like adventure and escaping into rich, fantasy worlds, check out this entire series. I'm sad that the series has now come to an end.

Summary: Not like the others.
Review: I read and really enjoyed the first Tiger and Del books years ago. The characters were really interesting - including the "bad guys." The story moved quickly and almost always captured my attention and imagination. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

Unfortunately, the _Sword-Born_ has little or none of the above. The most unique and threatening character, Nihko, turned out to be rather boring. I found that after a while I didn't even care whether or not I found out his secrets. I kept waiting for something to really happen, but most of the plot (as with the characters and places) seemed insignificant, at best.

I don't know why, but there seems to be a more recent trend among good fantasy writers of getting into bizarre/sick violence. And when it happens to one of the main characters, it sort of ruins everything - especially when it's the climax of the whole story. I can't express my disappointment adequately without getting into specifics, which, of course, I can't in this review.

Jennifer Roberson is a very talented writer and I usually love her works, but I cannot recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: A disappointment
Review: I read the first four books of the series again before I begain the current installment, and it really emphasized the difference between the books. The earlier books had an equal amount of action and introspection, with Tiger reflecting on the development of his relationship with Del. While the their relationship is still a delight to read about--they're both likeable characters and their interaction is fun--nothing much happens in the book until the very end! The novel would have benefitted from giving the characters something to do, some sort of goal to achieve. The mystery of Tiger's past and his attempts to find a path for his future just aren't enough to sustain interest.

Summary: Hoolies!
Review: I really enjoyed this latest installment and eagerly await the "final?" installment. It comes out in February of this year. I really enjoyed Sword-Born because there was a different element of both Tiger and Del. Yes, I did miss some parts with Tiger and his sword, but I really felt sorry for Tiger. Poor Tiger. Great book and high recommended.
