Rating: Summary: breathtaking Review: Like many others Moonheart was my first de Lint. I happened upon it in amongst a pile of 2nd hand books and since that day I've been completely and utterly addicted to the writer. The interweaving of fantasy and real life simply draws you in. My 1 1/2 hour train trips to and from work slip by without my noticing as I re read my collection. I search high and low in bookstores for his works and recommend him to anyone who asks me whom is my favourite author. Truly inspiring.
Rating: Summary: A real page turner Review: Moonheart is the first De Lint book I read, and I have been hooked ever since. It truly takes you into the character's adventure, and all of his books are really fun and exciting rides. The core of his writing is blending the real world with the fantasy world; one that is always just waiting to be found. And I love that he uses female leads so often. I eagerly await every new book and have made a mission to collect as many of his old ones as I can! He is the best!
Rating: Summary: Correcting a Mistake Review: Moonheart of course is an incredible book. I have read it many times and have emailed Mr. deLint and told him how wonderful his novels are. And on this page, there was a listing under Reviews I believe from Professional "reviewers", called Ingram. And well they made a mistake and I honestly don't know how someone could make this mistake. It is NOT two young women. It IS a young man and young woman. Keiran is male and Sara is of course, female. I think this should have been corrected before putting on a site such as this. But the book of course, is amazing. It can draw you into the world of magick and worlds unknown. I recommend it with all my heart.

Rating: Summary: True Entertainment! Review: Moonheart was an truly amazing book! Far above J.R.R. Tolkein or C.S. Lewis. Its a new kind of fantasy. I couldn't put it down. It's a real diamond in the rough. You have to try this book.
Rating: Summary: The First Great Contemporary Fantasy Review: Moonheart was the very first deLint book(and contemporary fantasy book) that I'd ever read. It's still only surpassed in genre by Neil Gaiman's work, and de Lint has never risen to this level again(except maybe with The Little Country). When work of this type has this kind of quality, it has a sense of true magic in the ordinary. That is what flows out of this book in torrents. From the beloved characters to the sense of wonder behind every corner and the sheer vision of this piece of literature, Moonheart has earned a place on my favorites list and in my heart.
Rating: Summary: One of my all-time favorites Review: Moonheart, the first Charles de Lint book I ever read, remains one of my all-time favorites. I've read many de Lint novels since I first picked up Moonheart in 1984, but I always remember it and recommend it to anyone looking for a good modern fantasy. de Lint it simply one of the best modern fabulists writing today.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful book! Review: One of the most beautiful books I have ever read! It took me further away from my life that I have ever been, more vividly than I have ever felt. The inscriptions of de Lint's pages have secured him as one author I'd recommend to anyone willing to listen.
Rating: Summary: Early Quintessential de Lint/Modern Fantasy Review: Sara lives in Ottawa with her doting uncle Jamie. They are the eccentrics in a rich family, and live in a strange, possibly magical house, along with several artist-type friends. Meanwhile, the RCMP is looking for Thomas Hengwr and Kieran Foy. Why? Because the RCMP is developing a paranormal bureau and Hengwr and Foy allegedly have unusual talents. Meanwhile, a political power-broker is manipulating the RCMP for his own purposes. Meanwhile, a centuries-old feud between Taliesin (mentor and protege of Merlin - remember Merlin lived backwards) and a Druid rages on. All of this converges and launches Sara on a journey of self-discovery as she is put at the fulcrum of all these converging and conflicting forces. And, nothing is quite what it first appears to be.Even though this is an early de Lint, the technique and flow are perfect. Heavy elements of culture - Native American, Celtic, and modern Canadian - are brought into play, with unusual combinations resulting. The characters are well-developed, and there is action and suspense aplenty. What is different about this de Lint novel is the amount of supernatural involvement. Most novels by de Lint involve intrusions (welcome or not) of the supernatural into everyday life. In "Moonheart", the supernatural takes at least an equal share of the story, and much of the story actually takes place in an Otherworld that is part Celtic Summer Isles and part Native American spirit-world.
