Summary: This is the book that hooked me for life!
Review: 10 years ago, a friend handed me a copy of MOONHEART with the command, "Read this...NOW!" I did and I've been hooked on Charles deLint ever since. Some parts of his work makes me wonder if he has a magic window that lets him see into my life. Charles is also very kind to his fans and WILL respond to email as much as he is able, which makes him one of the really good guys. Looking forward to his next book, -Forests of the Heart-

Summary: My first encounter with de Lint
Review: A friend gave me this book with no warning. I started it at 9pm on a Friday night and was still up early Saturday morning. This book scared me witless at points and I still kept reading. I had to finish it. I still go back and reread this one with much pleasure. Not my favorite of his, but high on the list!

Summary: A Fantabulous synergy of contemporary life and myth.
Review: A superb compesate of true emotion and the unbelievable beauty of Celtic and Native American mythology. I found it gripping, breath taking and heart wrenching at times. The characters are truly human, and this is what you will find most encaptulating. A very in-depth story that will hold you until the very end!

Review: After reading Moonheart, I was desperately sorry that I hadn't read any of his books before! There is so much True Magic in his writing; pure enchantment. This book sends shivers of delight and terror down your spine. Definitely my new favourite author of modern fantasy fiction. The characters seem to take on a life of their own, until you could almost believe that they are living and breathing in the room with you. The plot is so compelling that I read it cover to cover in one sitting. I can't think of any other writer to compare Charles De Lint to; he is definitely in a class all his own. I can't wait to read more. After all, who doesn't wish to cross over into Otherworlds? Reading a Charles De Lint book might be the next best thing

Review: After setting the book aside, I immediately wanted to construct the divination device mentioned in the book itself, and described in detail in the appendix to the book. Unfortunately, with so little time on my hands these days, I wont be able to do so immediately. Ah well, such is life.

His characters are diverse and likeable, female characters are never wimps, and he weaves mythologies of several cultures together deftly. I've been devouring books since I was a small child, and my first taste of Moonheart sent me back to the bookstores, special-ordering everything that could be acquired by De Lint. If you enjoy fantasy fiction - the kind you can't put down, Moonheart is a must-have!!

Summary: Wonderful Contemporary Fantasy
Review: De Lint has long proven that he is the master of contemporary fantasy. MOONHEART was the first of De Lint's books that I read and it hooked me. I now eagerly await every new book that he puts out, and actively collect fantasy compilations that include his short stories. I highly recomend this book to any who believe that there is still an air of mystery and fantasy to the world.

Review: DeLint's best skill has always been in making the fantasy and real worlds meld seamlessly, and this book remains his masterpiece. Truly a work of beauty. Even if you're not normally into fantasy (I'm more of a hard core SF guy), you will probably like this one.

Unfortunately, some of DeLint's more recent stuff gives the impression that he has run out of ideas. But you'll not go wrong with Moonheart.
