Summary: Bad book, bad writer, bad story
Review: First, I want say that this book was awful. I almost did not get through it. I like the Star Wars universe and know a lot about it. The biggest problem was the way the author explained everything. She made me feel like I could not think for myselft and imagine what I read. She explained everything in over whelming detail.

Second, I think it is very rude of some of the people who have reviewed this book to put other people down for expressing their opinion of this book.

I am glad some of you enjoyed this book, but I did not. I just could not get into the story.

Summary: How do you mean 'this is Star Wars'?
Review: Well, to use an understatement, i've seen better. The story contains some interresting parts and ideas, but unfortunatly, none of those ideas are used to their full potential. Next to that, the people in this novel do not appear to have anything to do with star wars, exept for their names, the only ones that behaved a bit like themselfes were Mara and C-3PO. As a whole, the novel wasn't that horrible, but it is most certainly one of the lesser of the star Wars novels.

Summary: Excellent Luke gets an awesome babe!
Review: Excellent book. And I usually don't give a five star. I'd recommend this to any Star Wars fan. Luke uses the Force a lot and doesn't take no talk from nobody. And in the end he gets a hot chick that was a Jedi and saved a bunch of people.

Summary: Trying to fit an elephant into a birdcage
Review: Hey, what's with all these pretentious, self-important reviews? Suffering from delusions of grandeur no doubt. Jeez guys, this is supposed to be a Star Wars novel for God's sake. If us, simple-minded yet die-hard starwarsians, wanted something deep and meaningful, we'd look elsewhere. What we want (and pay for) is Star Wars - plain and simple. I can't understand why Lucas/Bantam allowed Hambly to write a novel that would alienate half their customer base. And I recently discovered that it doesn't end here; they allowed her to write yet another SW book; a grave oversight me thinks! Oh and another thing, who the hell does she think she is contradicting Yoda like that. I can usually cope with the odd flaw in a Star Wars novel, but it sickened me to see the author arbitrarily dismiss (and practically re-write) the words and teachings of the 900 year old jedi master.

Summary: it should get negative 5 stars
Review: i hated this book. the charaters were all gay. they should stop have affairs with eachother. but there was one good part. and that was the part with the flying coconuts. that part was pretty cool. and then when the army of flying rats came and started singing and dancing to some where over the rainbow i got so excited. but then i read the rest of the book and got very disappointed.

Summary: Thank you Barbara Hambly!
Review: This is a great book! Yes, you may have to THINK a little while you read it, but I like to read a book that isn't so easy to follow it's mind numbing. This book is easier to follow for a Star Wars fan then someone making this their first outing into the books of the Star Wars universe though.

I am so glad that Hambly introduced Callista! With Callisita, Hambly brings out HUMAN EMOTIONS in Luke, something that he has been grossly missing. And I, personally, was VERY glad to finally see C-3PO finally doing something besides whining. He finally showed the kind of devotion to Luke previous only shown by Artoo.

I do wish that Hambly would have taken the opportunity to show Leia as strong and more capable on her own. Leia stills does pretty well though.

All in all, this is a great book. It has it all, romance, suspence, and action. I recommended it to any Star Wars fan.

Summary: Ehhh... it was ok.
Review: This book was ok, I guess. It should be titled "Eye of Palpatine" because the children of the Jedi didn't have THAT much to do with the plot. The characters, that's another story. Luke isn't someone to fall in love with a person like Callista, of anybody. PERIOD! Leia kept mentioning all of these aunts. Where did THEY come from? She seemed kind of, well, like a Jedi. In the Jedi Academy Trilogy, she couldn't. C-3P0 wasn't himself (prissy).

Summary: A very well written book.
Review: I liked this Star Wars book very much. I don't understand all the bad reviews of Children of the Jedi. It was only confusing if you don't understand the Star Wars universe. I liked the love story between Callista and Luke. I mean, come on, he hasn't had a girlfriend in ages, and along comes Callista. To me, they seem like a perfect match. Also, you always knew(courtesy of Timothy Zahn) that there was another Emporer's Hand. The way Barbara Hambly brings her into this is just spectacular. This is a wonderful book, however, it is not for those who don't enjoy intense reading. It is also not a good book for those who have never read Star Wars before. They will only get confused. I heartily recommend this book to those who liked Timothy Zahn's books.

Summary: I've read better Star Wars novels
Review: Usually with a Star Wars novel, I can hardly put it down. This one was a struggle to pick up. The first 150 pages were confusing beyond belief.( How did Luke end up on the ship and what was Han and Leia even looking for?) If you can get past the first 150 pages, it does get better. It wasn't a very good love story either. Luke and Callista's pairing was more like two lustful teenagers who couldn't control their hormones than a love story. It's a confusing read for this simple mind.
