Summary: STOP!
Review: Oh man I can't even finish the book its waaaaay to boring. The most bad part is I read it a few days after I finished the Thrawn Trilogy. It was like I ate a yummy good candy (Thrawn's Trilogy) and then drank down some nasty stuff(Children of the Jedi). I reccomend not wasting your time on it!

Summary: She is an author?!?!
Review: I usually love Star Wars books but this was the worst I've ever began to read. I could only read a hundred pages and that took over a week. It usually takes less than a week to read a trilogy.

Summary: Yawn
Review: I could not wait for this book to end. Oh well . . . at least it was better than the Crystal Star. Hmmmm . . . come to think of it - that's not saying very much!

Summary: Luke was a wuss!
Review: When I read this book nearly a year ago I managed to stick with it mostly because I had nothing else to do and I wanted to read Darksaber (which was much better than this one, but not great). I'll start with the good: The Gammorean/troopers were pretty funny. Even though according to Mr. Aaron Allston (who wrote a much better SW novel), gammoreans don't have the vocal capability to speak Basic. Now the bad: Luke broke his leg, and from there on out to the end, HE WAS A WUSS! Crawling along or walking with his little cane! This is a Jedi Knight for Petes sake! If he gets hurt, he should go into the Bacta, come out of the Bacta, and be back in action in less than a chapter or two. His injury lasted the whole book. The best thing that I can say about this book is that it isn't as bad as Plannet of Twilight, wherein Hambly takes one of KJA's coolest characters (Daala) and has her turn in to a good gu-er-girl! I'm sure KJA must have agreed on it, but sheesh! She talks with Han at the end like she never tortured him and tried to kill him or anything! Stick with Stackpole and A.C. Crispin!

Summary: Who shot who in the what now????????
Review: P U the writing in this book is awfull. Can somebody tell me exactly when luke falls in love with the ghost of jedi past? Can sombody tell me where the children of the jedi are(besides the title)???? The idea is ok (Eye of palpatine,Another Emperor's hand, possible heir, luke finally gets a girl) I mean, the Holy Triligy is a Love story!! But her problem besids the fact she simply can't write is she is gutless!!! Every one of her cool ideas is maybe, sortof, kinda ruined Because she terrified of changing the storyline. Callista becomes Cray and than she runs off(if luke does marry her is he cheating on her with Cray during the honeymoon??)Roganda is only maybe another hand, and irek is only kindof the heir to the throne. The star wars books are amazing all are very good with the exception of Hambly My final question is; Can somebody tell me how the let her write another book???? PS the header is a quote from THE SIMPSONS Jasper said it in the who shot Mr Burns classic

Summary: out of one mess and into another
Review: I thought I'd enjoy Hambly but her style was to slick for me. She jumped around way to much leaving me totally confused and in the dark(just like the ship luke was stuck on). I could of swore my bookwas missing a chapter, how the heck did Luke realize he loved Callista? My best guesse is his horphmones kicked in late or somethin. After i finished that I read Darksaber wich seemed like the light at the end of the tunnel even though he' really not that impressive (after Hamblys book anything would seem as refeshing as Zahn). Then because I've dedicated myself to reading ever novel and in order i might add, I forced myself to choke down her second book (or try anyway). I was hoping she would improve but shes only gotten worse. I gave this a 2 only because I'd give Twilight a 1.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: Hambly explores why people act the way they do. I think she also understands the Force better than any other author in the SW universe. It was very refreshing not to have to endure yet another space battle, super-beings trying to quash the universe and everyone acting perfectly perfect. The interaction between Han and Leia was wonderful! She also develops and strengthens Leia's character. (Thank you!) This book is _not_ Pulp SF.

Summary: Ouch
Review: Well, here we go. Luke keeps passing out all the time, the plot is boring, Mara and Lando together are disgusting, Luke and Callista's love story is impossible to stand, that story about the Emperor having another Hand was also hard to take. So, the reason I didn't give this book a 1 is because of the part where they talk about the Jedis and all that stuff, I liked that. But still, the book is bad and boring.

Summary: Boring!!! Pointless!!! Puts me to sleep everytime I try to
Review: read it. It's been almost 3 years and I still can't finish this piece of blasphemy. How can anyone call this ... this... this book a Star Wars Novel. Where is Timothy Zahn when you need him. I decided to finally give up on this piece of unreadable nonsense and read Darksaber (which was pretty bad too, I might add). At least I didn't have to waste my time trying to figure out what happened at the end. Not that it mattered anyway. The only reason why I bought this book was because of the dazzling cover by artist Drew Strutsan. (I shouldn't have judged this book by its cover) A note to Barbara Hambly: Please do not write anymore Star Wars books. It is very painful to see the once-great SW books fall into a mediocre Star-Trek-like book series. Don't mess with the Star Wars characters. Write about Spock and Co. if you will, but not about Luke, Han. Leia, Chewie, not even the Jawas. Thanks.
