Rating: Summary: When did Star Wars become melodrama? Review: This was a poorly written novel to say the least. I understand that a sci-fi writer is allowed some dramatic license when s/he pens a novel, but, c'mon. The least s/he can do is stay true to the title "star Wars". I can follow a tangent as well as the next person but enough is enough. She jumps topics and does not 'bridge the gaps' between what was and what is.
Rating: Summary: More realistic-emotionally written than most Star Wars novel Review: "Children of the Jedi," is a good Star Wars novel, integrating emotions that we usually don't see in Star Wars. Even though it tends to be slightly confusing and has an ending that's disappointing, it is still worthy of the five stars that I gave it. Callista is an amazing new character, we need some more female Jedi Knights!
Rating: Summary: This book was soooo boring. Review: I bought this book, thinking it would be good. It sounded good. I was WRONG! This book was incredibly boring! One or two things were okay, but I think overall, this book is thumbs down.
Rating: Summary: HUH? Review: This book was the worst Star Wars book by far. I did not understand the plot and I my mind kept wandering while I was reading, it was that boring. And where did Callista come in? Luke couldn't talk to her one chapter and she suddenly had a voice? The whole thing was just unrealistic. Even if she was a Jedi. How can you be trapped in a computer for so long and not have made your presence known? And why was Luke the only one to snap out of the brain-washing thing? And there was another Emperor's Hand? I would think that Mara would have had SOME clue about that, she can't be that brain dead. The book sucked, big time. Don't bother reading it, it's a total waste of your time.
Rating: Summary: The BEST! The BEST OF THE BEST! Review: I think you must understand more than just english to understand this book. This book is one of the best books (not only just SW) i've ever read! and i belive it will be the best i ever have read! it has a lot of stuff on the Jedi, something most of the newer books seem to leave out. there isn't as much political junk as some of the new ones. Callista is the best new character i've seen so far. i don't care what you idiot's think, this is the BEST!
Rating: Summary: Things fall apart, the center cannot hold... Review: ...especially when the center is a character named Callista. What can be said about Children of the Jedi? It begins with an unpleasant page and a half of drivel, meanders through a torturous plotline with far too much focus on Luke's side for its own good (*he* doesn't have a clue what the heck is going on well over half the time; how does Hambly expect the reader to?), and ends with the biggest cop-out in the entire SW series (and considering that Kevin J. Anderson's Jedi Academy trilogy let a mass murderer off with a slap on the wrist and portrayed it as a good thing, that's saying something). Hambly's marquee original character, Callista--ghost-lover and new girlfriend for Luke--is not worth the time, or the focus of this novel, whose plot seemed, particularly in light of what it has in common with its "sequels," to be merely an excuse to get the two together. Far more promising characters such as Irek and Roganda Ismaren take a drastically reduced second stage because of this, and have regretfully faded into the mists of obscurity in later novels as they have been neglected by other authors. Hambly's utter failure to put together a coherent plotline is particularly perplexing when COTJ is compared to her other Star Wars book, Planet of Twilight, a relatively easy and enjoyable read. In fact, I would strongly advise skipping the first two books of this "trilogy" (COTJ, Darksaber) altogether and simply reading Planet of Twilight; Hambly brings the reader up to speed on the important matters from the last two books (i.e. the Luke/Callista situation) during Luke's first appearance in the book, an almost certainly unwitting public service for which she should still be commended.
Rating: Summary: YET ANOTHER SUCKY BOOK BY HAMBLY Review: This SUCKED beyond comprehension! Who cares about every bit of Leia's dress? Then Luke and that ship....it was just confusing. (Oh, to those people who say I can't understand English...I'm in an advanced course. I know the language. Maybe you should try it.)Jawas and Sandpeople and Gamorreans? OKAY!?! Then we get the most boring and worthless character ever-Callista. Waa waa, she's stuck in the computer. Good for her. (she's a whiny leech, feeding off people's emotions)It just seems like we'll throw in a girl, make her Luke's lover and we have a happy ending. She's the one who brought him down. What did he see in her anyway? The plot was totally whacked up and lacked effort EVERYWHERE. There wasn't even a good point in the story. Luke was a stuck-up whiny brat in this one, too. He reminds me of some gay guy in an apron running around screaming, "Don't touch that! I just dusted it!" (in reference to the Jawas destroying the ship. It's going to blow up or something, so who cares?) The book just dragged on forever. The characters were underdeveloped just like this book. In other words, IT JUST PLAIN SUCKED!
Rating: Summary: Children of the Jedi is a horrible novel Review: I thought this book was the worst I ever read. I wasted my time reading it. It made no sense what so ever. Where did this writer learn to write Star Wars novels.Children f the Jedi is a dumb title. I didn't like the character Callista, Luke deserves someone better. In some of the Star Wars novels I've read Luke meets better women that might suit him better besides this dumb Callista. But Luke never ends up with them.I thought some parts were good, but then it got boring again.I wasted my money.I wouldn't read it again!!!!!
Rating: Summary: To say it lightly this book sucked! Review: I read this book because I thought it would be fun to read because Luke falls in love finally!I mean I love HaN SOLO like all but I kinda felt bad for Luke.Any ways THIS BOOK STUNK!First of all being only 14 this book seemed to grown up.Well to Grown up for Star Wars.It was grown up because number one the plot was confusing(and boring)and because it was all lovey dovey if you know what I mean.(I really dont feel like saying it on-line-)but I dont want to trash this book any more because even though I disliked it a lot,I enjoy the character of Callista and it was nice to know there was somebody out there who fixed Luke up with a nice girl!
Rating: Summary: HEY , TH IS BOOK IS ONE OF THE BEST! Review: I first want to say that all u people who didn't understand this book , well, had to not understand English, this book has a great plot , and it has some really good carracter, i especially like the Jawas
