Rating: Summary: Force of Arms Review: This book contains the most pivotal point in the Robotech storyline within the Force of Arms section. It is an intense story of the greatest confrontation between humans and the invading aliens that will leave you glued in place until the very end. This book is a must have for any fan of sci-fi, mech-based stories, or anime.
Rating: Summary: Robotech : Genesis/Battle Cry/Homecoming Review: This book is fantastic. A friend recommend it to me and I bought it and lost the book, to find it a year later just as something to read in my spare time at school. Soon thereafter I was hooked. The characters are so likeable, and the chemistry between them is very intriguing. For a fan of the Robotech anime, or sci-fi books, this is a MUST.
Rating: Summary: one of the best books you could ever read Review: This book is truly amazing. It is everthing you could want in a book. With awsome battle descriptions. I have read all of the robotech by Jack McKinny and this is truly the best of all.
Rating: Summary: A primer on how to write a kiddie book Review: This book was written for a 12 year old, with 2-dimensional characters that are unbelievably juvenile and action scenes that are superficial and disjointed. Too say that this book's boring would be a gross understatement. SDF-1 is crewed by bickering, self-possessed teenage girls and commanded by an incompetent old fool. How earth survived the Zentraedi invasion with these fools is totally beyond me. Save yourself the trouble and just watch the anime series instead.
Rating: Summary: Well done Review: This compiled, first three books of the series contain most of my favorite episodes of the cartoon. Jack Mckenny did a nice job of putting the Robotech world into novel form. The childish dialog and impossible physics of the cartoon, were explained in a way that allowed the reader to believe in them. I'm glad he didn't just try to explain everything away though. In the cartoon, when Rick was watching the Miss Macross pagent, and the bridge paged him over the intercom, Mckenny changed it to his personal pager. I would recommend this novel to all Robotech fans so that they can see one of there favorite universes in greater detail.
Rating: Summary: It's the book that made want to read them all. Review: This is the best book I have ever read, and i have read almost every Robotech book. The story flowed extremely well. All character developments were subtle but noticeable. Jack Mckinney is the best author in the world. In my opinion he is an equal to J.R.R Tolkien. The paragraphs befor a chapter can tell you about the future of the siries. This book can suck you into their world if you get into it. All the characters were in some way weged into the story with the plot and development of the story. I have herd some people say that the book isnt all that good, and some said that they would give it one star. But these people didn't read science fiction much. The people who gave it four stars, I would have given it four stars but sence I read th rest of the books I changed my mind. I do admit that the story did drag hear and there but It was a great book.
Rating: Summary: A thought provoking, well written, chronlogical stories. Review: This series is an excellent adaptation of the popular Japanese animation show "Robotech". The show was ground breaking in its animation, violence, and entertainment. No cartoon show that was around compared to the harsh realities of combat and the real emotions that the Robotech show offered. In a sense it was the soap opera for children. Once again, it is. The Robotech books "Genesis" "Homecoming" etc.. is not only as good as the television series but better. More detail, more history behind the storyline, and more character depth offers the reader not only a nostalgic sense but a window into the imagination. Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes, Minmei, Kyle, the bridge bunnies, Gloval. They are all once again alive thanks to the creative talents of the dynamic duo Jack McKinney(is a combination of two different writers). After each page, chapter, and book, it still leaves you wanting more. Somehow the writers have written in a way that all ideas that "this is just fiction" slips away and soon the reader is deeply involved with the characters. The television show opened up our eyes and imagination to the wonders of Robotech, but the books opened up our minds and thoughts. This is why I give this book five stars.
Rating: Summary: One Sweet Series, at a good price too Review: This series realy should be on the best-seller list, too bad it is so old. It still is well writen, and exciting. Get this, along with the 4,5,6 book, the 7,8,9 books, and 10, 11, and 12 singles. The sentenals are OK, but only because the origonal charecters are in it. I LOVE MS. HAYES
Rating: Summary: A Quest for Love Review: To me , all that Robotech really is , is a quest for love. It was love that vanquished the Zentraedi in the First Robotech War . It was love that made Zor Prime rebel against the Robotech Masters , ultimately killing them .It was love that made the Invid Regis change her mind about destroying the human race . This is one of the greatest sagas ever made.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Adaptation Review: Very much a blow by blow of the TV series, this book does add 'some' background to the characters and the story of Robotech. Worth buying.
