Rating: Summary: One of the better single novel SW books Review: Their was plenty of action sequences in this to keep the book going and the author does a wonderful thing with cliffhangers. People complain about the inconsistencies of Lukes' power but I dont think thats a problem.(After all, he survived a exploding x-wing). Only complaint was that while I was reading it I had a weird feeling like I had already heard this story. I dont know if it was the movies or the many SW book I have read. But still a all-around good book.
Rating: Summary: continuing the saga Review: This book was one of the best star wars books i have read. The plot was interesting with many twists. Certain peope from the past come alive again to add danger and suspense. Luke is portrayed not just as a jedi but as person who is vulnerable to death and pain. Expect many climaxes.
Rating: Summary: The best non-trilogy Star Wars book written to date Review: I could tell within the first few pages that this was going to be an awesome book. The pages turned quickly and you were left with suspense that I've only experienced from Crichton novels (Well, Sphere anyway). The novel wasn't bad at all on the characters, and although it's been a year since I've read it, I remember it being very well written and the plot well rounded. The only misgivings I had about the book, I have about every book, and that is the seeming invincibility of all the main characters, no matter how badly they get beaten up in the course of events. However I realize that it would be even less enjoyable had any of the main characters died.
Rating: Summary: Maybe a part II? Review: This is a really good book from the Star Wars universe. And I totally agree on all reviews already here. But, I would like to add one thing; Cole's Force-Sensitive, maybe a sequel would be in order??
Rating: Summary: Good at times, but mostly stupid Review: This book had a good idea and ran smoothly. But the problem was that the author pictured Luke Skywalker as a PERSON not a Jedi Master that owns an acadamy, brought Darth Vader to the good side of the force, created Rouge Squadron, and played an important part in the destruction of the Death Star. By the authors description of his powers, he is a mere Jedi trainee that has just learned to manipulate the force.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Review: This by far is my favorite SW book.(Along with Darksaber) The villian was great and I was glad to see Luke get a good kick in the pants just to let him know he's not as powerful as he thinks he is.
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Read Review: This book can be described as many things, but to sum it all up, The New Rebellion was simply Great. It proudly holds the spot of my favorite Star Wars single novel (The Zahn Trilogy is my favorite SW SERIES). My favorite aspect about the books is its darker portrail of the Star Wars universe, and the villian, Kueller, was simply amazing. If you like dark tails infested with non-stop action, The New Rebellion is for you.
Rating: Summary: I'VE GOT A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS... Review: The nice thing I can say is the author had a clear understanding of the political elements, and former Imperials becoming Senators was an intriguing concept. There was also a nice interaction when Luke meets Cole. With that out of the way, it was disgusting how main characters lacked any dialouge beyond quoting a Star Wars movie. If that wasn't enough, characters not only spent great amounts of time remembering the past (I was ready to burn the book if Luke had ONE more memory of something Yoda or Ben said), but Luke and Han are introduced reliving movie scenes. The most disturbing thing is the author lacks understanding of the Star Wars characters. Han, for example, greets an old "friend" in a bloodthirsty manner by pointing a blaster under the table Greedo-style, and on the opposite end of the spectrum becomes a melodramatic sap whenever he's around Leia. Luke, who has been training as a Jedi for over 15 years, is once again a whimp, although by this time he would be the ultimate Force in the galaxy. * SPOILER * And one last question to ask yourself: How does the President of the Republic end up running up a staircase ALONE after an explosion in the Senate, when the Senate is located on the most heavily guarded Republic planet in the universe, and Leia is the most important diplomat?
Rating: Summary: Like the drum-weilding, pink bunny... Review: ...it keeps going, and going, and GOING...I can't wait for it to stop, and couldn't wait for the past 500 pages. I suppose I could go finish it instead of writing this, but I really can't motivate myself to do so. I find the book very boring as literature and either artistic or entertaining creativity...as a gazette of the Star Wars universe, it may be passable. But it's about as interesting as the Black Storm trilogy in regards to character and plot (which, I must admit, is pretty low). I can't even remember for certain if they were indeed named the "Black Storm" or not. While Ms. Rusch is not a poor writer, everything in this book seems very "pushed" to me, to make work into a Star Wars story. Why not slap another Obi Wan quote in to make all the rabid fans (of which I am one, cynical though I am) say "that was said X number of minutes into 'Star Wars' and X from the soundtrack was playing at the same time! Woo-hoo, I have no life!" The only part I found interesting was when Han was shot in the backside. Although he would say otherwise, it was amusing, especially in light of the Solo Trilogy by Crispin. I give it a "3" only because Rusch has good points when her authoring shows PROMISE of shining as literature (again, she's far from a poor writer), I haven't thrown it across the room, and I don't curse the loss of my coffee money at the local bookshop. Read it if you are an extreme Star Wars fan, skip it if you like good sci-fi.
Rating: Summary: Wimpy Luke Makes Book OK Review: At first after reading this I thought it was the bomb of all Star Wars books, but then I relized that the author portrayed Luke as a wimp. If you dont care about that you'll love it.
