Summary: great, but not the best
Review: This book was good, but I've read better. The author should have fit Wedge Antilles more into the plot, since he seems to be left out of most books. Yes, the "worst enemy the New Republic has ever faced" is a BIT over-used, but the villain was still cool. The only other recommedation would be that I wish there was more of the students at the Jedi academy in the plot. Besides the politics stuff, the plot was quick-paced, making the book a fast read. The plot started rolling right away, keeping the beginning unboring. If you like SW, you should read this book.

Summary: Why do they allow these titles anyway?
Review: Once again we have "the most horrible enemy the new republic has ever faced" kind of story and it is wearing really thin. I found new rebellion very slow and I don't know if it was the length of the book that made it seem like that or whether it was the writing but it certainly felt like forever for this book to get started. I found the political stuff to be absolutely pointless and the autho had absolutley no way of resolving it as was made apparent at the very end. Another thing that got me thinking after reading this book is that there has not been a decent villain since vader and thrawn. Kueller was so unbelievable and written badly that it was almos a joy to skip over his parts. Anyway I am dissapointed that i bought this book, borrow do not buy

Summary: OK, but uninspired
Review: Though I wouldn't go so far as to call this the worst Star Wars book, I can't call it the best either. The most fitting description is probably generic. The plot involves a former student of Luke's who turns to the Dark Side as a means of exacting revenge for the death of his parents. Following this, he concludes that the weakness of the Republic is to blame and thus decides (surprise) to take over the galaxy himself. Guess where this goes from there.

The writing is not terrible, though there has been better. Scenes on Smuggler's Run seem to drag and Kueller himself never seems to feel like a threat. Though he has the Dark Side power he lacks the haunting menace of Vader or the ruthless cunning of Thrawn, and the "dark jedi out to get the Rebellion" plot is overused, anyway.

Predictable though it may be, it's still a decent read if you need a Star Wars fix. And despite its length, some five hundred pages, it seems pretty short.

Summary: Better than a lot of other Star Wars books
Review: Well, I have to say that I'm surprised by how many people didn't like this book! I personally loved it, because it read like a REAL book, not a cheesy imatation of one, and most of the characters were reasonably well portrayed and developed, AND the plot was the first in a very long time (since the Thrawn Trilogy, really) that actually got me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering if everyone was gonna come out alive. This book had somewhat of a darker feel than a lot of the others, almost reminiscent of Empire Strikes Back in some ways... Anyway, this book takes place about thirteen years after Return of the Jedi. Leia is still the Chief of State, Han is still basically a house husband (YEAH! I'm all for that!) and Luke finally seems to be over the early mid-life crisis he has been in for about the last five books, ever since that witch Callista dumped him. (talk about stupid!) Anyway, suddenly and with no explanation, a planet is destroyed somewhere, but no one but the most force sensitive people even feel it, (Luke, Mara, Leia, the twins and Anakin, and a few others on Yavin 4) At about the same time, a bomb goes off in the senet hall and nearly kills Leia, and an investigation is immediatly started to find out the cause of these two catastraphes. Luke thinks it's one of his former students gone bad, and it turns out to be two of them working together, Brakiss (Young Jedi Knights, anyone?) and an incredibly force strong young boy named Dolph, (now calls himself Kueller) who has set himself up to be the newest menace of the New Republic. This may not sound all the scary, and if it were written by anyone else, it probably wouldn't be, but this author's fine writing talent really bring out this threat and actually had me worried for a while. Suffice to say this is one heck of a book that I recommend to any Star Wars fan. My one real problem with this book was that it kept on referring almost constantly to Children of the Jedi, as if it was the only important Star Wars book to take place before this one. If anything it was the least important, since nothing that happened in it had any long standing effect on anything later on. The Eye is destroyed, Callista dumps Luke about six months into their relationship, and while this basically turns him into a basketcase for the next three or four years, eventually he forgets she even existed and marries his TRUE love, Mara Jade. Speaking of Mara Jade, while I was glad she finally came back into the story, (she's been gone since Darksaber and I was missing her) I was somewhat disapointed with her portrayal in this book. Here she is not the strong, tough, intelligent, beautiful, dangerous, sarcastic, rude, smart, fun, stong-willed, force sensitive, red headed wild cat who plays by her own rules and will not under any circumstances take crud from anyone type of girl who I loved from the instant I started Chapter 3 of Heir to the Empire, but rather a somewhat two-dimensional character with no place in the story other than to be Karrde's sidekick, Lando's exgirl, and Luke's potential love interest. I understand that no one can portray her like Timothy Zahn (she's his character after all) but it can be a little frustrating. Though this one is a little more adult oriented than some of the others that is not to say that a kid couldn't read it. I'm fifteen and I had not trouble with it. Also, this might be a little confusing if you haven't read at least some of the books that take place before it, though it can be read on it's own without too much trouble. Anyway this is a good book that is definitely worth reading. MTFBWY!

Summary: a good book overall
Review: I admit, there are some things the writer could have done to make the plot a little more 'real', shall we say, but, regardless, I really enjoyed this book. The first thing I noticed was that all the characters (except for Mara Jade) were in character. Leia, Han, Luke, and especial Artoo and Threepio were extremely believable. Mara Jade, however, was not at all like we know her, but then again, she is Zahn's unique creation and hard to copy. I also enjoyed the humor in this book. The dialog was very believable and especially around Han and Chewie, whose conversations danced with his old roguish atributes as remembered from the epic trilogy. I found Threepio and Artoo's exchanges hilarious, as I always found them in the movies. I noticed that luck played a big part in this book and that bothers many readers, but think about it, the whole concept of Star Wars and all the movies thus far have revolved around lucky instances. Being in the right place at the right time is the back bone of the star wars universe. As for the inconsistancies and the thin villain and plot, that can be expected from any writer. After all, not everyone can be George Lucas.

Summary: Worst Star Wars book I have ever read!
Review: I have been reading star wars books since the original katana fleet adventures by timothy zahn; I have read almost every star wars novel ever written. This book was the worst one that I have read in my entire life. I'm always a bit critical of people who don't get some of the facts right, but with this book I was dumbfounded. It seems like the only thing she used for research was the movies and the summaries on the backs of other star wars books. I try to be lenient with these writers, but look at how impossible this plan is. Kueller was putting bombs in droids and set them off at certain times. First of all, this is a huge galaxy we're looking at! There are trillions upon trillions of people that could buy these droids and thousands of other, more established, droid companies that they could buy from. There is no plausibility in this plan at all. It would be a one in a billion chance that they would get those droids in the right place at the right time. Also I think that Smugglers' Run was very poorly depicted, but I don't have enought room to write about it. To finish up, if you have read other Star Wars books and liked them, I STRONGLY URGE YOU NOT TO READ THIS BOOK! YOU WILL BE DISAPOINTED!

Summary: Just To Inform You......This Is A Great Book!
Review: Just to tell you peoples, I never read. I remebered this book on my shelf and picked it up, having the best synopsis on the back. I read it five days, reading about 100 pagers per day. I was hooked! There is no way anyone could not at least give it a try! The plot is very likely. I mean, if you think about it, putting explosives in droids is so likely in that kind of series. Some of your favorite characters, aka C3PO and R2, could be a death wish to the humans they serve! This book is just so good and you can relate the plot to real life, like a bomb in a mail package for instance. It just has a very likely plot, that finally became a book! it keeps you hooked by every page you read. The first page grabbed me by the throat, and it slowly kills you until it realises you at the end, leaving an imprint on your neck!

Summary: This book not only had no plot, but it made no sense
Review: Not only did this book not make any sense, it was boring. I had no clue what happened in the battle at the end. And since when has Wedge commanded a small armada of Mon Cal cruisers? The Smuggler's Run was also poorly written. overall, this book was pretty much garbage

Summary: Unquestionably the Worst Star Wars Book Ever Written
Review: I have read a myraid of different Star Wars literature. This piece should never have gotten published. How in the world did this writer recieve the awards she has gotten and produce this garbage, for lack of a better word. I can write a better Star Wars novel in my sleep. She not only steals all dialogue from New Hope, to Return of the Jedi, but nothing is new in this book. It is beyond bad. The three children of Leia and Han are in this, for about two pages. I am in shock. I am in awe that they allowed this woman to publish this absolutely horrendous book. I could write one better in my sleep. Originality=0 Excitement=Blah
