Rating: Summary: A great read, but be prepared for a disappointing ending Review: Darksaber is one of the better Star Wars novels out there, with original ideas that manage to tie right in with movies and other novels. If you want to get a sampling of Star Wars fiction, read this book!
Rating: Summary: This book RULES! Review: This is an excellent book. Kevin J. Anderson can write very well! I couldn't put the book down!! It was suspenseful and the Durga the Hutt was cool! I liked the way Kevin J. Anderson combined Daala and Pellaeon. Read it. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Anderson is amazing! Review: Anderson has woven an extraordinary tale. I absolutely love the style of Anderson's writing, a mix of action, adventure, romance, drama, and even a little humor! This fantastic story is one I'd read forever, and never tiring of it! And I was full of emotions when Callista..... well, I'm not telling you that! This is a fantastic book. It's a classic.
Rating: Summary: Best Book in the Star Wars Universe Review: Reading this book was like watching a movie. The visuals that Kevin J. Anderson creates brings you directly into the action. This book was fun to read, moved fast and made me cry - Kevin has a way of connecting the reader to the characters.
Rating: Summary: Stay Far... Far... Away. The worst author in the SW series. Review: Star Wars worked as a story and a movie because of its rich characters. Action sequencies and special effects are meaningless without solid characters. George Lucas said it himself... Kevin J. Anderson wasn't listening. Anderson is lost when it comes to writing characters. I think he knows it too. He seems to flee from character development in each chapter, creating an unlikely action sequence at every turn just to fill pages. He must hope that if he keeps his books (Darksaber, the Jedi Academy Trilogy and others) packed with enough action, we won't notice that he can't write characters. This strategy might have worked if it wasn't for one thing:Anderson can't write action sequences either. Darksaber, like all Anderson books I have read, features the most convoluted, inaccurate and maddeningly illogical action scenes imaginable. On every page someone is getting attacked by Imperials, snowmonsters, crazed bat creatures, whatever Anderson can throw in there. Stuff just comes out of nowhere... usually for no other fathomable reason than to fill white-space. The battles themselves are ludicrous. My favorite example is a Wampa attack. Luke and Calista go to Hoth and run into a Wampa. Next thing you know, there are dozens and dozens of Wampas attacking. And OH NO! The Wampas are organized! They are working together to foil our heroes! And could it BE?? Their leader is a Wampa with ONE ARM!!! Holy Corellian Cruisers! The One-Armed Wmapa is out for diabolical revenge! Who woulda thunk it? It makes one wonder whether Anderson has even seen the Star Wars films, let alone the more in- depth material. The ice planet of Hoth, on which virtually no life exists, is now home to hundreds of huge snow creatures. What do they eat? When did they become sentient? Was it dull for them, just waiting around on the frozen tundra on the off chance Luke came back to Hoth so they could take sweet, sweet revenge? Every action sequence he writes is equally stupid. How he ever got these manuscripts cleared by the Lucas powers-that-be is beyond me. Kevin J. Anderson is just a hack Sci-Fi-Fantasy writer trying to make a buck by exploiting the Star Wars name. To him Jedi are Wizards, Wampas are dragons and the chracters we all know and love are just cookie-cutter knights, princesses and evil kings in a tired plot device more reminiscent of a Mad-Lib than a Star Wars novel. Anderson does not have the skill, knowledge or creativity it takes to enrich the Star Wars universe. His presence only detracts and distracts leaving the true Star Wars fan feeling empty and frustrated. It's too late for me, friends. I have already read Anderson's drivel and will be forever haunted. You must SAVE YOURSELF (and your 5 bucks). DO NOT buy anything with this man's name on it. He is the "dark side" of Star Wars novelists.
Rating: Summary: Positively, Absolutely, Wonderfully GREAT! Review: Darksaber is one of the best SW books I have ever read. It is captivating and I felt like crying when Callista died(or appeared to). It was nice to see Luke finally find someone who loved him and that he could love, you know what I mean? KJA is a wonderful writer and did a FANTASTIC job on this book. Emotions are portrayed very well.
Rating: Summary: The best Star Wars book Review: This book is the best Star Wars book I've read. It has a lot of action and a good story.
Rating: Summary: Repetitive and boring... Don't bother, you'll quit half way! Review: Anderson isn't even close to 90% of the SW writers out there! Darksaber was babyish, the Death Star thing was dumb, and to all the good characters are killed. Callista's personality must have gone through a scrambler between Children of the Jedi and Darksaber- since when does she rely on Luke for everything? And if the Jedi Knights can repel 17 Star Destroyers with the force why don't they do something like that in every fight? Darksaber wasn't worth the money at all. Anderson cant write without stealing other authors' characters and either killing them or messing them up!
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good..... Review: It was an okay story, but with all the Death Stars and take-offs, they've lost their touch. I wish KJA could've found something else besides a Death Star....the only part that bugged me to death was the whole Luke and Callista mess. She should've died! She was introduced in a tasteless book, and KJA should've finished her off. He made Luke look like some whiny jerk, flaunting his powers. On top of it, Callista was a whiny jerk too. That Death Star should've zapped her to dust.
Rating: Summary: A really good book Review: This book was very good.Anderson is the best writer in the Star Wars Universe.the only part I didn't like was...There is another Super Weapon in it.And he didn't kill Callista (Dang).Other than that it was great It isn't as good as his first series But it was good.
